Quite frankly this is not what I voted for at the Guildhall. The club is in crisis and the board are fight8ng like rabbits in a sack behind the scenes. Talk about fiddling while Rome burns. There needs to be an Emergency AGNM. where these differences of opinion can brought into the open and a new board elected.

I'm missing something here. How can anybody other than the board offer someone a contract? It wouldn't be a new occurrence - Liam Davies was offered a contract extension without the approval of the board, as was Evan Horwood. Jon McCarthy was "unanimously" removed from his role without three board members even being made aware of it. Make of that what you will. Surely this all comes down to governance and our old friend Richard? Clearly many of our issues lie in the fact that there either isn't protocol in place or people aren't following it. I would quite like to hear an update from him at any EGM as his work is crucial to ending this kind of farce.

As much as I'm gutted they're gone, and the club is much worse for it, SO and MH need to stand up and come clean on the real and full reasons they've left. It's completely unacceptable for this to a) continue, and b) for fans to be kept in the dark..... FFS, I'm pi**ed off!!!!

Where do we go now? EGM and a full clean sweep of the entire board - nothing else will do now.

Shall we just all pack up and go home? What is the cancer that sits within our club that causes this? I spoke to our club chaplain last week and asked him if he does exorcisms and he laughed, but I wasn't joking. Have we got Freemasonry in there?

Really worrying times. Doesn't really surprise me after reading a lot of venom on here and on social media.....seems that you need incredibly thick skin to be a board member of our club. We expect miracles of people who give their time for free. I know we’re in a different situation than most being fan owned but I don’t understand why they’d step down because of all the crap that’s posted everywhere. It’s the same at every other Club. Bloody hell we've got some sensitive flowers if they've resigned over online stuff. I would think there's more shit to come. Fan-owned is rubbish.

To be fair to Richard, most of the governance is in place, it just isn't followed - there aren't really any consequences for not following protocol and therefore it gets abused by people who think getting elected to a board of directors allows them to treat the club like their own plaything.

Why would 'the media' run that line though? All part of a power grab move. Someone within the club wants CH out and FWG brought into the Ops board. Board reject the proposal. Someone resigns over it. Another person resigns over the treatment of CH. I don't give a shit now, too many people treating this football club like a piece in a game of chess. Too much backstabbing too many people with agendas of their own trying to outdo one another. This is not what I signed up for at the Guildhall. We all expected and wanted something better, where supporters worked together to create a fully inclusive football club for their community. What have we got instead? A board at odds with each other, and more resignations. When we look back in a few years time and ask where or why it went wrong for us, remember tonight. Tonight was pivotal in the downfall of this supporter owned football club. Who is FWG? Sorry if I've missed something obvious. Cheers!

Driving people who know what they’re doing off the board. God, our fans are fucking idiots. It’s embarrassing. Presumably the usual critical suspects will be stepping up to the plate to fill these vacancies? Stupid, ill-informed comment. The fans are not to blame. Please consider what you're saying before you type.

Spot on. As board members are volunteers there are very limited consequences of non compliance...so things happen that perhaps shouldn't.

Calvin and Mark can hold their heads up high in all of this. How do we know this if we don't even know what the argument is about? I'm feeling completely in the dark about what the issues are in all this and it's incumbent on SO and MH (who both seem to be serial resigners)to say exactly what the differences are. Until then, how are we expected to know who to support ?

So as far as I am aware, and I note I posted this a while ago when the financial side came out. I believe there has been a bid to buy the club involving legard, mcquire and possibly Tony allan. I believe there was a vote yesterday and the remaining board members from the old board all voted in favour and this has led to the resignations. IF this is true which needs confirming it absolutely stinks of a board deliberately running the club into the ground to buy it on the cheap. Really hope I'm wrong. No it's not true.

Contracts have been offered without board approval. Football working group is causing havoc it seems, and the lead of that group is Calvin Hughes. Make of that what you will. This is half the problem (no offence to you Danny), why is this being posted by a fan who is not part of the board. Too much in the know whispers instead of good communication from the club. This is why people are sick to death of it all. Sorry I thought Danny was the club Press Officer. How is it that he gets to know things before everyone else. There must be leaks from a board member or someone else at the club.

Unbelievable. Our club is hitting a new low as the day goes by. Where are we going to pick up from now? Who is going to join the board? What is going to happen to our fan-owned status? Why have we got board members leaving the post after two months? How is this happening?? Really gutted for Mark and Simon, as right now I believed that we had a strong board who would finally get the fan-owned model correct. Firstly I applaud them for stepping onto the board during the most difficult of times, and they are both good people personally. However, we need a full inquiry onto what is happening. Obviously the sniping over the last week or so, apathy amongst the fan base, split opinions about fan/private-owned status and the Charlie Croasdale comments haven’t helped this at all. I honestly don’t care if Croasdale was on a night out. What he’s said, and the publicity it is now getting could damage our status. I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Calvin Hughes steps down over the coming days. I usually enjoy reading his match reports but he seriously needs to take a long, hard look at himself now. I am genuinely kicking myself now as I honestly don’t know how we are ever going to push on. I was at the open meeting at the start of February. As soon as I came home, I said to myself that ‘’at last our club has got a bright future’’. Our board all introduced themselves properly and said what they are going to be working on. I was pleased at the time and excited to see what will lie ahead. Now though, if we have members of the board arguing on Twitter etc. and not posting on DC as much then we won’t have much of a future. Also, surely there is more to the current meeting being cancelled ‘’due to it being Easter’’. That excuse is pathetic because it’s not like that Easter has just came from nowhere, so these problems must’ve been known a week or so ago. I’m coming to the point now where I personally think that we may not have a club one day. The Academy and Community Trust are both working wonders for us. They are our bright lights. However, on and off the pitch, this season in particular has critically killed us. If it was July 2017 now, who on here would’ve thought that it would get to this? Nobody. I can’t put into words how traumatic this campaign has been, both on the pitch and in the boardroom. I do fear that it will get even worse before it gets better, but I’m stunned with this news. I must thank Simon and Mark for trying their best for us in the toughest of times. Now though, questions need answering. The upcoming close season will be massive, and I mean that. Rio 6 of the board members who are responsible for this mess are still on the board including the financial director.

Back at THE meeting in January Jon Legard tweeted: Jonathan Legard is ready: This is a time to acknowledge that there is a strong group of determined, successful, highly motivated, well connected Chester supporters ready and willing to apply their skills and take whatever tough, unpleasant decisions are necessary - as in any business - to give the club the best chance of surviving this season, ideally in the National League, and well beyond During the meeting he Tweeted: One of them talking now - and should be taken on tonight to lead the fight As I was viewing online at the time it was SO addressing the board. Together with Simons comments since regarding never going back to ask the fans to bail them out again and the need to listen to what all the club fans wanted CFU or not, IMO he feels that investment is the way forward and reading between the lines this is where the board split is. Clearly the fan owned model for our club has its limitations which have been spectacularly laid bare due to recent events. Whoever you feel the need to single out, McCarthy, Maguire, the Board, the Fans, we simply do not have the fan base or expertise to continue with the status quo. Yet again, the Chester obsession with going back to move forward, Managers, players and now Board members has backfired

Here's the problem. We're all trying to run a football club; when no-one actually know's how to do it. Many of us do/could/have run businesses, but football clubs are unlike any other business, bar the exceptional few, they are all run almost intentionally as loss making entities. We've bought into this new model 'Fan Ownership' and hailed it as the future of football, yet we continue to operate in exactly the same manner as anyone other club. As the old adage says 'If your not different, your the same. If your the same, you better be the best' We are neither different nor the best.

Just said who Al. Simon popped up in my twitter direct messages last night after I sent a tweet to him asking what had changed since his last tweet, which was a positive tweet about the board working and working groups working to get the club into shape. He’s explained himself and I’m going off that information on my posts.

I am on holiday but I just popped into WiFi land to look at the responses to yesterday’s game to be met by these bombshells. We know all about on field problems but it’s a real shock to see all politics and fall out off the field. After the emotional shock of all this settles a bit I am sure the level headed fans we have will start the ball in motion to arrange the meeting we need to have, keep the faith it’s a war we need to win and we will.
