There won't be a squad if they both don't actively seek out other clubs. Hannah definitely sounds like he's hoping for a payout. Particularly seeing him mention the money that might be coming in.. If they both stay then what, we'd be looking at trying to get an extra 17 or 18 players in for a combined 150k per year?? The plan can’t just be that if they don’t move, there’s no squad though. We have to plan for the possibility that we simply can’t get rid of them. As has been said, they haven’t done much to market themselves. It might be that we have to start the season with them in the team, hope they bust a gut and increase their market value, and then get them off the wage bill. Reading between the lines, I think that's the problem for the new Managers. Until they know whether they can move them out, and at what cost, they can't put together a squad. Don't want to sign a bunch of cheap players to balance out their high wages, then find they've gone and we could have signed better ones. Equally can't assume they're going either. Expect they'll be a load of signings just after we know. Problem is, if they hang on as long as they can waiting for a deal, it's worse for us. Can't put together a balanced squad while in this position. This could get nasty. Football is a different profession to almost any other. Contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on and are often broken. Players and Managers almost expect to break them. Wouldn't happen in any other profession.

They are well within their rights to stick around on evidently very good money.

I think the best result we are likely to get is that they move on to new clubs and we pay a percentage of there wages for 12 months unfortunately

We may be surprised and the new management team get the best out of them.

We may be surprised and the new management team get the best out of them. It's not about getting the best out of them, it's about the ruinous cost of paying their wages. Moving both on is the biggest challenge facing the club and we can't really plan for the season until this mess is sorted. Understand they signed a deal and are entitled to sit tight, but not in anyone's interests that either stays. Apart from the financial cost it leaves the stench of last years failure hanging over the club. I doubt either player wants to be here, but don't see a rush to sign either on anywhere near the ridiculous money we shelled out. Sadly, I agree that we will end up paying a percentage of their wages while they play for someone else.

It probably doesn't help that people are demanding new signings straight away to help them decide if they should get a season ticket or not, it puts pressure on the managers to make signings before the situation has been resolved

Hi all newbie here. Followed Bernard and Johno since their Rammy days watching most games home and away in that time. Will certainly be trying my best to get to the majority of Chester games too with what I’m guessing will be quite a following of people who’ve watched the managers at both clubs. I’d hazard a guess that there’ll probably be a number of former players who the managers will bring in as they do create a fierce loyalty towards each other. The likes of Richie Allen, Gary Stopforth and Steve Howson will probably be on their list as they’re now free agents but Brad Barnes and Chris Lynch have recently signed at FC Utd who I also thought may be targets. I wouldn’t be shocked if they tried to bring in lads like James Poole and Jordan Hulme who scored 30+ goals for Altrincham last season and dare I say Scott Burton a huge fans favourite at Salford City although he still has 12 months left on his deal their so probably that one may be a little far fetched and he will probably want to have a go at the Conference. One things for sure is that whoever they bring in will be absolutely 100% committed and will run through the metaphorical brick wall for each other. Enjoy the ride! I so hope your second-last sentence is true. I'd love to see that after last season. We don't expect Messi but we do expect effort.

Alex Lynch and Marc Williams have both left Llandudno F C. It wouldn't surprise me, to see them both drop down to the Cymru Alliance.

I don't think we will see many Salford players personally, as they were on a full time wage. Hoping Mr Murphy has put some money to one side for the playing the budget.

With Jonno back yesterday, hopefully the retained list can be released soon and signings can be made to boost season ticket sales.
Also hoping James and Hannah can be sold soon so we know what budget we have for new signings.

Spearing won't drop down 2 divisons plus several EFL Clubs are looking and don't forget were skint!

Spearing talks are probably a sign that the newfound CAPITAL could be imminent. Would expect our playing budget to double.

He has said he wants to get into coaching academy players as he’s currently doing his coaching badges. Player coach maybe ?

Hope not, that would mean we'd be back to the budget we had last season, maybe more and as we know it's not sustainable. The investor has gone on record as saying we need an instant return to the Conference, which is why I would think he will be parting with some serious wedge to this forthcoming seasons playing budget as well as the infrastructural funds.

Touray was not a bad player .like many others stuck out of position on left wing remember the guy bignot brought in shep mbedzi or something like that he got slated after half a game yet went on to play well in conference north .think our managers created bad players

Touray was the first choice left back at Salford last season so would definitely be happy to see him return.

Let's remember Toure was only 19 or 20 when he played for us. The fact that he was a regular for Salford last season will do for me.
