Great fighting spirit from the boys today. Great result.
Seriously though, what’s with that away end? Bizarre for a new ground...why not just step it a little at least? Definitely not a little Bobby Dazzler.
“Don’t worry, I’m not happy”

No way was that a sending off in fact I thought George was fouled first still a good 3 points away from home and a bloody good finish from Gary

I thought at the time our first looked like either a really well placed header or a terrible bit of goalkeeping! Still haven’t really seen it from an angle that confirms it either way.
I think Green was a bit unlucky. A foul, yes, but is it really necessary to send someone off over something as innocuous as that? It wasn’t violent, and didn’t deny them a goal. Thought overall the ref wasn’t too bad though.
It was a really well-managed game from us - the sort of game we’d have lost last season. FCUM must have had 75% of the ball and knocked it about well, but they were the definition of no end product. I’ve rarely seen a team overhit so many crosses and through balls. I think we realised that and let them have the ball, sat back and defended well, and the often maligned Shenton had a great game and deservedly had his name chanted at the end.
Good away day when all is said and done. Smart ground from the outside but it does look a bit unfinished on the inside. I can never quite make my mind up about FCUM. I still think they should just pick an existing local team to support if they’re fed up of the Premier - that’s what I did at age 13 and is why I now support Chester. Saying that, they’re exactly the type of fans I like, being passionate, principled, friendly and never stop chanting, plus they helped us when we reformed. They’re a force for good overall.

Decent ground, cracking bar in home end which runs the whole length of the end behind the goal, plenty of teles as well, decent real ale bar in the main stand plus huge bar behind the press in main stand where I had a chat with asante, there fans were saying stupid that there was no bar in Chester end and a steward said they did that as they were told trouble at curzon and Stockport! They were told 100 riot police at Stockport! How mahon missed a complete open goal beggers belief, should of been game over at half time, there keeper was dreadful, even the utd fans were chearing when he made a save, Shenton man of match by a mile, pulled off 3 or 4 world class saves in 2nd half.

I know FCUM wind a lot of people up, but I've got no problem with them. They seem a proper community club, I took along a few old coats for their collection for the homeless and thought it was exactly the sort of thing we should be doing on a match day. Really nice people. Also saw their community trust had a cabin on site, where I presume they run activities and events for local people? Brilliant.
Also, you cannot knock their variety of songs and atmosphere they create. It's top drawer for this level.
The ground is clearly half finished and they've prioritised the home end first. Fair enough I suppose, but they really need to put a few steps in that terrace because the sight lines were really poor.

My match highlights: Enjoy fellow blues! Looks like we hardly got out of our own half in the 2nd half. We were under the cosh but at the same time we were reasonably comfortable. I didn’t think they were going to score. Can’t remember many shots on target for us other than the two that went in.
