It looks like we will be without the services of Stopforth for a significant period as an operation is required. Asante has suffered a setback on his road to recovery and is at least four weeks away as his injury requires rest and rehabilitation according to the Chron. Really bad news this for our promotion prospects.

I still think a priority, if the 'Murphy money' is going to be spent on anything, is treatment and injury facilities, and perhaps a pool of funding for private operations. I won't pretend to know much this would cost though.
Another player was injured warming up last night, how many times has that happened this season? Even Messi and Ronaldo would be no use playing for us if they are injured, and it does seem that we are either cursed with injuries or that there is some reason why we get so many of them.

It is a new injury that was caused when a player kicked him in the back of the knee whilst playing for Chester if you remember. Could happen to anyone. Medical thought it was a grade 1 strain (10 days) It is in fact a grade 2(4 weeks) confirmed. No operation needed just rest and gentle exercise. So don't panic. Should be concentrating on how well the youngsters are doing whilst the main players are out.

Yes, I think people misunderstand what a medical entails. It’s not an assessment of whether the player is match fit, it’s whether he meets the fitness standards deemed adequate by the club, eg weight, body fat etc. Put another way, I don’t think we would’ve been happy if the club had said “sorry, he’s injured at the moment so he’s failed his medical and we’re not signing him. Definitely need some reinforcements to cover these. When is Scott Burton back? He’s a blooming good replacement for Stopforth when he’s at his best fitness wise. It’s Asantes goals we may struggle to cover, Hughes already a huge miss in that area.

Any news of the Lloyd Marsh Hughes groin strain? Was he pulled from the starting line up as a precaution?

There is no coincidence that over the last 2-3 years our injury record is shocking. Inevitably all teams get injuries and some of these are just circumstantial and we take the pain. However, to have so many injuries has got to lead the club to question the standard of physiotherapy and general advice in this area. How many times have we had players picking up injuries in warm ups? Just as Lloyd Marsh Hughes looks like breaking into the team he gets injured and we are back to square one. We are going to struggle to field a team on Saturday.

It beggars belief you should pull a hamstring in a warm up !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like our star signing is still going to be spending more time on the bench than on the pitch..at least he's true to form..

Gutted for Gary losing him is a massive blow not only for the fans but the whole team
He's been in the wars a lot over the last couple of Months Alfreton tried to kick him off the park but he just got on with it

It’s obviously disappointing news this with three injuries. One out indefinitely another we don’t know about as yet and our main goal threat missing for approx another month. We have managed to hang on in there with the win at fc . We could do with a couple or three loans to tide us over for at least a month possibly two? It’s asking a lot for what we’ve gott available to keep us up there challenging. That said we should really be winning these next two home games. With marsh Hughes now missing who looks promising I think we are rather light up front. Without mentioning the middle of the park.

We need the squad to be strong for the run-in. Last 10-12 games plus possible play-offs. So not time to hit the deva-chat meltdown button just yet
Some interesting points about physio and conditioning. In terms of infrastructure invistment that should be a focus. Not just for the first team but for youth and development teams as well - teenage years are a crucial conditioning and physical development phase for players.

I don't know much about physiotherapy and the current provision at the club - but I'm sure there are other factors at play here too.
The amount of running / pressing the players do at the moment is markedly different compared to last season. It's like watching a different sport at times!
Also, luck comes into it. It sounds as though Asante and Hughes just received knocks.

Hopefully Scott Burton coming back in will be like signing a new player. Will run through walls for the cause.

Not sure if true but I know we used to train at Chester university on artificial pitch, Is this still the case? Maybe this is not helping regarding injuries,. Maybe we need to train on grass only!
If we already train at the deva that rules my theory out.

We had an open training day at the start of the season in which fans were invited to attend. That was at the stadium.
