Defender Jon Moran has joined Hednesford Town on an initial 28 day-long loan today. To be honest I wouldn’t have thought he would leave as we don’t have many defensive options, and say somebody got injured tomorrow we wouldn’t have a backup. Jon has looked decent for us so far and I’m sure this will aid his development. Good luck Jon.

Says to me that the duo rate Matty Waters and Matty Thompson as better prospects.

Says to me that the duo rate Matty Waters and Matty Thompson as better prospects. Well Jon Moran is a CB and not a natural full back. It's a weird one for me as he's done well in the games i've seen of him, just found it hard to start ahead of Howson and Livesey/Grand when they are fit.

Can’t compare Moran to natural full backs, he’s just been filling in there best he can when called upon. He’s a centre back all day long. I’d like to think he’s in our plans long term and playing week in week out at Hednesford will be more beneficial than sitting on the bench. He’s only 21 but he’s less hyped up because he isn’t an academy product.

Bit of a strange one but Howson and Livesey have both been superb in the centre back positions for the large part this season and Moran, at 21, needs regular football.

Quite like Moran, he’s just not good enough to replace Howsom or Livesy in the starting 11. Like sanders says at 21, he’s got potential to play a part for us in future so it may benefit him to get some match time. I hope we have ability to recall immediately should we get injuries.

I know what you mean about our academy products - sometimes people are overly keen to praise because of where they have come from. We should want to produce our own, but we also need to be realistic when assessing them and whether they're ready. Disagree about Moran though. Seems a nice lad, but he's bullied by centre forwards at this level. There's not enough aggression to his game and I'm not convinced by his positional sense either.
