Just giving this a plug and urge anyone who can to get along or if you can't (like me) view the meeting through the webcast. Possibly the biggest news for the development of the Club in the community since the opening of the Deva Stadium. details

The name associated with this new facility has to be after Stuart Murphy some how, none of it would be possible without him and his love for this club.

A lot of hard work has gone into acquiring support from a variety of sources from private individuals, football and sports authorities and of course the council (without whom this would be a non starter). But there is still plenty we need to do ourselves and on Wednesday we will be setting out how everyone who wants to support this great scheme can help - not just by giving money (and yes we will still need to raise some of our own) but also by donating time, commitment and just helping to promote it to others.

A reminder there is an open meeting this Wednesday (20th March) to provide an update on plans for a community sports facility.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm in the Blues Bar. I understand it will be streamed live for those unable to attend too.
Thanks, Jim.

The plan - 'Chester FC Community Trust has unveiled its vision for a new £1.6 million community sports hub in Chester. The charitable arm of Chester FC is collaborating with Cheshire West & Chester Council on plans to develop King George V playing fields in Blacon. Subject to planning, the scheme will include a new full size floodlit 3G pitch, improvement of the existing grass pitches, a new Clubhouse with changing rooms and community facilities, refurbishment of the existing Pavilion to include an education suite and additional car parking and access to the site'. www.chesterfc.com/2019/03/20/breaking-vision-unveiled-for-new-1-6-million-community-sports-hub-in-chester/

This is absolutely fantastic news, something that, as a reformed club, has been one of the objectives since the start. All credit to Jim Green and the Community Trust in driving this forward.

This is great news and exactly what we’ve been missing for a long time!
Kudos to Mr Murphy for donating £200k towards the project, not sure if this is taken from the £1m donation or additional, but it’s up the club and fans to now raise £300k towards it too.

This is amazing news after where we were 12 months ago. To think we are even talking about this shows why we deserve a football club in Chester. Brilliant work from Jim Green and the Trust and many thanks to all those involved in supporting this financially and logistically.

When will it open? The scheme will be developed in phases and it is anticipated work will commence in summer 2019 with the facilities available to the community in 2020. Will Chester FC’s first team be using this facility?
Peak time (evenings and weekends) access to the sports hub will be prioritised for the community with the facilities available to partner clubs and leagues, grassroots teams and individual or group bookings. During the daytime, the Community Trust will be based at the site and deliver a range of initiatives, including a BTEC education programme for 16-18-year-olds, disability sport sessions and activities for older people. The first team may also hire the facilities for training, however the site will remain fully open to the public at all times with the local community welcome to watch these sessions. kgvsportshub.co.uk/faq/

A huge well done and thank you to Jim Green, and to everybody else who has managed to put together such an exciting project. This goes to show how far our Community Trust has grown in such a short space of time. An enjoyable meeting this evening and I’m looking forward to seeing how this develops. Let’s all get behind this as a club and as a community. It is in our motto ‘Our City, Our Community, Our Club’ so let’s all utilise it as one big family.

Most of the financing will come from FA grants, we'll save that gesture for when he builds us a new ground 😉 I rest my case, the FA is the FA and should be supporting this, he is an individual who continually keeps backing our club with his own money, now another £200,000. Thank you Stuart. The rest is up to us.......

This facility would be fantastic for the community and the club. But the fact the club and supporters have to raise £300k worries me. Not that long ago we were nearly going bust and had to raise money just to stay alive. With fantastic efforts, we along with some generous donations and the all star game managed to keep the club alive. We are now a part time club with a small budget and rely heavily on our supporters to keep us going. So to expect this amount of money to be raised by the club/supporters to me seems pie in the sky. Hope I'm wrong and the money is raised but it won't be easy.

Great effort to get the proposal but sadly can't see it happening, £300K is an awful lot of money to raise from people who already chip in re season tickets and squad builder etc. The rest of the City isn't arsed.
Also read that building is to start in 2019 so how long do the club have to put the £300K on the table (if it was achieved)?

Just what we need, in an excellent location.
Moving forward when we look to attract the kind of players that will take us to where we want to be, a proper training facility like that will be a good selling point.
We lost our footprint when the ground was moved to the middle of nowhere, this helps to restore our visibility.

£300k sounds a lot of money but don’t think this is the insurmountable tally some have suggested earlier in the thread. The grassroots nature of the project means I can see certain businessman being more willing to chip in for this than they would be to just give the club money - and the involvement of Stuart Murphy will almost certainly help in that regard too.

Were you not listening when they said that money would be fundraiser via normal channels AND donations from the local business community? This is a facility for the WHOLE community therefore responsibility for raising the funds is on all of us.
