Nice one RCB. Really refreshing to have a good debate with someone on a forum. Debate is good. None of us have the answers, but we ALL have the best interests. Up The Seals. I 100% agree.

Of course we can see the potential for a facility like this and how having the CT branding may assist in encouraging people through the gate but in terms of funding it, theres only a limited pot from the same fans and the same businesses and so this £300k must divert funds from Chester FC 2010 Ltd. It seems clear and obvious this will happen. The fact this MAY be beneficial in the long term doesnt change that. Whilst there is a strong link to targeting the loyal fans once again, this would surely be foolish, given their already excellent commitment, so I would hope this is recognised as a community scheme in the wider sense and not just football specific. As such I would expect fundraising to be targeted at the wider community of Blacon, beyond the normal football fans pot. In short, extend beyond the football fans and businesses, thus getting funds and hopefully new fans. Convert a few non-football people at the same time. Win-win.

I am sure we will be able to give more detail soon, but there are three main strands to meeting our financial target for the project: donations; fundraising events; and commercial. Of course we would encourage Chester fans to be part of this but recognise this may not be possible for everyone and that many will already be supporting the club in other ways, so the appeal is very much aimed at the wider community. Hopefully there will be some updates on this in the next couple of weeks.

A special fundraising match took place at the Swansway this afternoon where Chester Supporters FC lost 3-0 against Supporting Charities FC. It wasn’t about the scoreline though, as a fantastic £905.28 was raised which will all go towards the King George V Sports Hub. Well done to everybody who attended and donated at today’s event. Below you can watch my match vlog which shows you all of the action:
Hope you enjoy!
