I’ve decided to make this thread so that all of the key dates and information in our preparations for the new season can be posted on here.
Anyway, our first pre-season friendly has been announced today where we will host Carlisle United at home on Tuesday 16th July at 19:15.

Very basic facilities at Barnton, nothing like Winsford.

quite simply a poor choice of pre season friendly Why? A local club only three levels below us, and a fellow phoenix club in fact. Seems a sensible enough choice to me.

Have you even been there? I have to agree with Uptheseals - I've played on it a couple of times and atmospheric is not a word I would use to describe Winsford's ground Grim would be better

I've been there a few times, most recently for our Cheshire Cup game and as the second half began I strolled round the perimeter. I met different supporters some I knew, some I didn't and enjoyed the quirkiness of the ground and the way the lights framed the playing area. Superb!

Something about the old greyhound tracks are very evocative. Winsford, Bradford Park Avenue spring to mind. Also one during our early years in an Evo Stik cup game (Newcastle or Leek?). Just being miles away from the pitch isn't great, but the old blowers, the lights and the opposite stands make them interesting. Always good food at Winsford too, always essential for a straight from work night match.

We had to go there twice because although the Hipkiss arrived the team bus was stuck in traffic on the M56. It was a rare loss too in one of the minor cups.

I didn't go, but I remember reports of the home fans singing "Ooh Ooh Chester Zoo" at us, which made me chuckle
