Dudley should under no circumstances be dropped, he was our top scorer last season & has been playing well those season albeit slightly out of position. Mahon on the other hand hasn’t had a great start to the season, he works hard but he’s running into brick walls & giving the ball away too often. Waters LB with Taylor playing a bit further forward maybe? Spot on this, with a fit Murray challenging for Jackson's position or the 11 shirt. We are blessed with 5 forwards ( when fit ) who can all probably play 9 or 10, but none of them except maybe Elliot seem to thrive playing at 11. I like that Grand and Livesey chip in with goals, and still believe Roberts deserved a contract as worked really hard last season, but we really need a McNulty or Higginbottom type player in there, who can really sort out some of the sloppyness and lack of discipline that costs us so often. After that we should be sorted!

After that we should be sorted! Honestly though, our centre backs haven’t been bad at all. They’ve won most duels and maybe suffer from a lack of pace but that’s something a Higgy/McNulty type would many solve anyway. We’ve got more than enough experience in the side to cope with sloppy discipline in theory. I think Jackson has been our standout player in the first four games overall, huge threat and willing runner. He gets us out under pressure and wins us a throw in right up the other end countless times. I’d sooner see Murray for Dudley and push Dudley up top ahead of Waring. Waring is quality but for some reason we can’t get players around him quick enough and maybe Duds deserves a change in his best position.

Jackson our best player? Jesus Christ. He said himself his first two games were poor, puts in a great performance at home to Farsley Celtic and everyone is wetting themselves. A bit of balance please

A bit of balance please First two games I felt he was playing within himself, now he is flying. Massive threat with a quality delivery, long may it continue

A bit of balance please Key word was “overall”. First home game I couldn’t attend so cant comment but he’s been very good in the last two and he was hardly awful first game just didn’t get on the ball enough. Think he’s a player with big potential, he’s a big reason we got a point at kettering. Nobody’s stood out massively in the opening games, but we’re unbeaten so maybe that’s even more impressive.

Wouldn't say Kettering were robbed, but there were a few 50/50 decisions that maybe went in our favour.
The tackle by Elliot at the end that the commentators are moaning about wasn't even a foul.

A bit of balance please Certainly our most direct player, paciest player, the player who looks most likely to get the supporters off their seats when he has the ball, ok the final ball isn't always the best but I wish we had a couple more like him in this side! Personal opinion mind.

What I like about Jackson is that I rarely come away from a game thinking he was poor. He's consistently alright, with some games where he's really good. Consistent wide players at this level are a bit of a rarity, so I do think he was a good find by Bern and Jonno.

Jackson is a cracking player, Mahon has been here for 3 years to long. Cut out the silly own goals and we should be onto a winner. However listening to Stopforth on that podcast, he doesn't seem to think we'll be going up this year. However going to the Deva this year so far doesn't seem like the chore it used to be like last season and season before.
On a side note can we swap Rio for the Bootlegger?

Own Goal has been our most effective player in my opinion - just at the other end!

On another night Waring could have gone for the elbow, Stopforth could have got a red for not making an attempt to play the ball for the penalty and we would not have got a penalty. Used up a few of our nine lives there and the point shouldn't gloss over the deficiencies. Those own goals aren't just bad luck...terrible body shape by Roberts. About the only thing the ref got right was not sending off Elliott. Wasn't even a yellow. Those commentators are clowns.

We certainly got out of jail with a point last night. Fantastic travelling support at 300 or so. They Certainly don’t deserve that sort of backing on last nights showing What on earth does this even mean? ‘They certainly don’t deserve that sort of backing’ hell fire! Ian btw I think your other post sums up the game rather well. Given a lot of teams in league 2 only get 100 or so away support. The generally quality of football was awful. Yes I get the coach journey and a poor surface. Worst surface I’ve seen in August for some time. I get with have a hardcore who will always follow us out of genuine love for our club. I just feel it’s sad to see where we are at only an opinion.
