Would agree with most of the above. We essentially played a 442 but with the individuals used it was pretty much a 3412, but Taylor and Jackson dominating the flanks, and Dudley coming inside as a link.
Out of the strikers so far, Hughes and Waring seems the best partnership. Waring will miss the odd chance, but Hughes' movement and work rate means he's the perfect fodder for Waring's flick ons.
Whilst we may not have the most depth in central defence and midfield, our depth in the striking department is frightening for oppositions. Bringing Asante and Elliott on, they're evidently not a partnership - they were standing around 40 yards apart compared to Waring and Hughes - but they are goal scorers and will bust a gut against tiring defenders to get a goal. Asante won't play 90 minute games, but 2 goals in probably about 30 mins of game time (don't quote me on that) is pretty darn good option off the bench.
I really don't get the negativity about Dudley, after Stopforth he's probably our most selfless player, and a classy one at that. It was the same last year in parts, he's happy to come deep to help the team out, a couple of times today he ran back to help cover in defence. He does a lot of work in terms of positioning and link play which probably gets missed in the bigger picture. Whereas last year when he started he was our main goalscorer, I think he's adapted very well to playing more of a supportive role.
Anyway, 2 home wins in a row... Fortress Deva is rising 🔵⚪

Fortress Deva is rising 🔵⚪ Really good balance to that team. Roberts covers for Jackson. Dudley comes inside to help out, and Taylor overlaps. Matty Hughes ran the channels when needed, and dropped in when needed. His and Stopforth energy were missed last season. Good sub options too. Problem will come when we get injuries and suspensions. There isn't a lot of like for like cover in the other positions.

Can’t believe anyone is criticising Dudley. He plays such an important role linking the play between the forwards & midfield. We don’t have another player who can do that apart from possibly Murray who, as talented & hard working as he is, is probably not ready to be starting games regularly at this level. I think I saw Duds lose the ball once today. Great player.
Matty Hughes is looking better & better, so glad he seems to have gotten over a serious injury & looks to be getting back to his best.
Waring & Jackson both class again.
CBs looked solid & never looked threatened.
Joel Taylor was my MOTM though, signing of the season for me. So quick, great on the ball, decent crosser.

I am really made up that Matty Hughes seems to have made full recovery as he is one hell of a player and we missed him last season. Today was an all round team evert and it was so refreshing looking at the talent we had on the bench, it really filled me with confidence that we could take players off and rest them and reduce the risk of injuries. With the new signings and the team we have I am in no doubt we will do well this season they will only get stronger and harder to beat, lets face it without the own goals we would be top of this table.

I would echo what others have said about Dudley, thought he came inside and linked up the play well, crucially leaving space for Taylor to overlap, who is quicker and more direct, than Mahon. The pleasing thing yesterday, was that,we had pace down the flanks, with Jackson and Taylor and through the middle, with Hughes

What we did today as opposed to Tuesday was to move the ball quickly on the floor. This was perhaps in part due to the pitch at Kettering, but more to do with Matty Hughes who was MOM for me. He gave us options that Mahon doesn't. A result at Kidderminster and the me, the most pessimistic fan might be glass 2 thirds full. We did try at Kettering. Jackson had a few flying runs on the right but, you are spot on, the heavy or longer grassed pitches don't help. Same at Boston where we also struggled. I've been saying for ages that we will be a much better team without Mahon. No problem with him on the bench when he might get some joy against tiring players but he just doesn't create enough or have any pace.

I believe Hereford asked for the full away allocation last season (before the postponement) as they were confident of selling 1,000. With the indifferent start they’ve made I’m not sure they will this season. 3,000 total would be great. They’re 4th in the league. Took 1000 to Gloucester on a Tuesday night. Reckon they’ll bring 800 here easy. They took 1,000 to Gloucester, who I think play at Evesham this season . . . and 66 to Blyth yesterday . . . so probably somewhere in the middle, depending on the Saturday results . . . 450 perhaps?

Really pleasing result yesterday. If we can take 300 to Kettering on a Tuesday night surely we can take 400 plus to kiddie on a Saturday?

Really great day at the Deva yesterday. As others have said, Dudley put in a great performance amongst many others. The only thing i’d like to have seen was Matty Hughes slotting one home - after last season and his performances this season he really deserved one. Hope he gets one soon, his commitment to the club is top drawer.

Superb performance. Bern and Johnno have been very clever in keeping the best players from last year (despite typical calls from many supporters to release all and start again), identifying the issues and recruiting well. This team is very capable of doing well in this League and I'm sure a few more results like this might well see a few more added on the gate.
There have been some very impressive performances from individual players so far this season. George Waring is a massive bonus, what manager wouldn't want this kind of player up front. Tall, strong and with an eye for goal too. How long have we been desperate for a player like this. The fact that he is a Chester lad with a family history of supporting the blues is a bonus. Stopforth, Roberts (both), Jackson and Taylor also standouts. And we have strength in depth in key areas. Matty Hughes was immense on Saturday. And Asante and Elliott can't get a start! This League should certainly respect us because we will be competitive this year.

I don’t think the highlights did justice to how well we played we moved the ball around passing forward and not just sideways and backwards, our movement was also very good but non of it showed up and only the second goal was was a result of a decent move.
