Agreed. Why was he on the bench yesterday? Is he still carrying an injury and if so he shouldn't have been on the bench Our best midfielder for me. Must be fit as was on the bench against York too. Not sure who would step down to fit him in? Stopforth started against York, but was subbed in 2nd half.

I think it should be acknowledged that Stopforth hasn't made it easy for the managers to give him the benefit of the doubt. Is he making training at the moment given that he now can't drive?
As for the old "if he's not fit, why is he on the bench", well, maybe he's considered fit enough to come off the bench for the last 20-30 minutes, but not fit enough to play a full 90. Seems sensible enough to me.

Stopforth gets injured last season Chester’s form dips. Stopforth gets injured this season Chester’s form dips. It’s not a co-incidence at all. Best midfielder at the club. Should be the first name of the team sheet. Agreed. Why was he on the bench yesterday? Is he still carrying an injury and if so he shouldn't have been on the bench Part of him getting match fitness - you can’t risk making him do a full 90 with his knee injury history. So some time against York and more yesterday, I bet he’s in the lineup for Saturday

I was only answering a question from someone who asked me whether he will still be out or not! It wasn't you I was having a go at Rio. It's these fans who seem to think they're being left in the dark about Asante, when there are plenty of updates out there.

I have experienced far better times with the club. Away at Tottenham, Villa etc. I have also contributed to the club. I find it depressing that younger fans (and older perhaps?) seem to accept lower league football. I regard Chester as a National team, not a local one. We really need to expect more from the club and management. If we don't reach promotion, so be it. But aim for it.

Game of two halves, they had the better of the first half and were on top in the second half. Could have gone either way really so the end result is probably the right one. Other than the two goals not much happened in the first half. Jackson’s goal was really quite lovely, placed in to the top right corner form the edge of the box. Their goal came from Audel taking a shot with his right foot just inside the box on their attacking left which Waring blocked but he couldn’t get up quick enough to block the follow up effort. Just describing it, not Waring’s fault, he did what he could but needed help. We were much better in the second half, Brackley probably had the more clear cut chances forcing us in to two goalmouth scrambles but we had far more possession and were the side generally in the ascendancy pushing for the winner. Difficult to pick a standout performer, nobody really excelled but everyone did their jobs reasonably well. I suppose Griffiths did well when called upon, Kev Roberts stepped up and Waring held the ball up well if I were to pick some out. Personally feel that Stopforth is the ideal partner for Glendon in the middle of midfield. If Glendon is going to sit deeper to get on the ball then it gives license for Stopforth to go running around like a nutter in front of him. Issue with today is that both Glendon and Roberts sit deeper. Roberts struggled a bit for me, everytime he won a header it just ended up going anywhere. Got nothing against him but who on earth was voting for him as man of the match on the twitter poll? Must have been the Blacon fan club who weren’t even there standing out in the rain with us, there were certainly more votes than Chester fans at the game anyway. Baffling. Likeable little double act between Taylor and Waters on the left, at home in particular I think that could cause damage. Anders your summary is an excellent assessment of the game. I personally felt they had the advantage of the strong breeze first half. Second half it seemed to die down and left us with just sideways rain

I like Taylor but his delivery into the box was again poor. If we are playing Waring then we have to work on the crosses. Probably a point gained yesterday but no doubt we struggle without a fit and firing Asante. Not sure Elliott is the answer and maybe time to shake it up a bit and go into the loan market. All looks a bit flat and predictable. I see Mahon wasn't even in the squad, so can't see he has much of a future now. Their keeper picked the ball out the net and made a save from a soft shot from Waring but I can't recall him being troubled otherwise. Fantastic goal by Jackson, he could be a real talent. Without wishing to single out Gary Roberts I do wish he would just play the simple ball more often. No criticism of the effort and as Danny noted the keeper definitely seemed to be more vocal. Griffiths had a sticky spell but the last two games he's been solid and his kicking much improved. I know we are where we are for a reason but depressing watching us play in front of less than 500 in a ground like that. Two portaloos behind the goal and a glorified bus stop for shelter in the rain. Bleak.

That said they all need to work on the quality of balls in on the basis of what I have paid to watch over the past couple of games. Don’t like to single players out for criticism but I’m not sure DE offered much yesterday. Griffiths did struggle a little 1st at half with his kicking but I feel that most keepers would of kicking into that strong breeze we had to contend with first half. Otherwise he was very vocal and made some very decent stops which probably earned us a point. Couldn’t have done anything about their goal. Let’s hope for a home win next Saturday

If you've spent most of your life watching us play in the FL and watching us be in the first round proper of the FA/League Cups every season I totally get why some feel a bit down about where we currently are. Clearly it won't last forever and I agree we're at this level for a reason but nevertheless I find views like tonya's understandable.

The managers have done a fantastic job in assembling such a competitive squad with the peanuts budget at their disposal. At this level there will always be errors and disappointments unfortunately. I think Asante has contributed far more this season than I originally expected, so we really need a better plan B for games without him. I think experience on the field is essential, but that needs to be supported by pace, and in such regard I am happy with either centre back, but not both. Most teams concede silly goals at some point, but generally at 3-0 up. This season I think all our silly goals have resulted in dropped points. Seven draws, of which five could easily have been wins, and the York match could have easily been a draw, there’s 13 points over York, so we could have been walking this league already. Good cause for extreme frustration, particularly for those who have long followed a FL team. However, we are where we are, and we need to ensure we will be the in-form team come the playoffs, if we can’t win the league. We need to offload players who’s best days are behind them, or won’t quite get there, so as to release funds for what we will need for the run in.

Only at Chester could a player win MOTM 3 games in a row, yet be the one blamed for a winless run! Talking of MOTM, I'm on Devachat so I'll whisper it quietly, but Russ Griffiths was picked yesterday; the loudest player on the pitch yesterday commanding his team and some massive saves... I think so far this season the only players not to have been scapegoated on here are Stopforth and Taylor. Griffiths- check K Roberts - check Livsey- check Grand - check G Roberts - check Jackson - check Glendon - check Burton - check Dudley - check Mahon - check Waring- check Elliott - check Asante - check Nearly a full house, bravo If you put 100 fans of any club together on a forum, they'd be criticising their players. Doesn't matter if it's Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, it would be the same. Maybe Liverpool fans may not at the moment, but you get my point. Bern and Jonno may not like the negative comments. I wouldn't if they were aimed at me. But they will appreciate the frustrations, that is what most negative comments are, as they are genuine football fans themselves. We care about our club and we are desperate for us to do well. They do too. I don't agree with many of the comments on here, as people wouldn't with mine. I have agreed with many of your posts. However, you're a little too sensitive and protective at times. Any fans forum at any club would be the same as this one. It's the nature of the beast, and social media in the 21st century. Get to know which posters to ignore, or block, and which ones seem to have a balanced view. Works for me.

My preference would be Livesey. Grand is solid enough in the air but was another on Saturday who let himself down with his distribution. I feel we are at the stage of the season where the side needs a little tweaking if we are to kick on. Not doing badly but this run without a win has gone on too long. Disappointing that Jones hasn't managed to seal a place in the side. By all accounts he was very good at Boston on loan last season. Is he injured currently, or just not in the squad. No apologies for setting the bar high, as we've shown we have the nucleus of a good side.

I do understand and my response was a bit more stuffy than it needed to be in hindsight. We all want to be playing higher than this, ultimately, but we can all help the club move forwards in our own small ways.

Why can’t you ever be bothered to check facts?!? Check facts before posting on Deva Chat? Don’t be bloody silly it’s never done... I relied on info from a friend as I was unable to attend the game or listen in on Seals live so please accept my most humble apologies and I shall refrain from ever posting again.

A Crowd of 476 there today, How on earth can they be a decent side going for the Play Offs on that. Seems like a section of the Southport fan base are boycotting games at the moment, don’t know why but it’s not a happy place at the moment considering the teams position in the league. Think you've got your wires crossed, that was Brackley's attendance not Southport's. For what it's worth, this is the first time in my twenty years supporting the club where there has been no boardroom dissent whatsoever! Long may that continue. See you all over the Christmas period, hopefully Merseyfail will pull their fingers out for the Boxing Day service and you'll have an easier trip.
