Does anyone know are Stockport Town anything to do with Woodley Sports, who we played in our first CFC season? I can see that they're based in Woodley and were formed about the same time as Woodley Sports were dissolved, so it seems likely.

I can see that they're based in Woodley and were formed about the same time as Woodley Sports were dissolved, so it seems likely. History Stockport Town was founded in 2014. Based at Stockport Sports Village, the club began with ambitious aims to begin life at the tenth tier of the English football league system. Stockport Town suffered a setback in their plans after being unsuccessful in applying for the league. After positive meetings, the FA told Stockport Town they were not convinced that the club met the required standards for a new club attempting to join the North West Counties. Despite this, the club board were convinced that a year of development would only benefit the club's application chances. On 29 April 2015, three of the club's representatives travelled to Wembley to meet with the Leagues' Committee. They highlighted how the club had been successfully run over the past year, with encouraging results against some high-profile clubs from the region.[2] On 14th May 2015, it was confirmed that the club's place in the North West Counties Football League Division One for the 2015–16 season was accepted.

Woodley Sports changed their name to Stockport Sports, but this club was expelled from the NW Counties League for continuous breaches of regulations in 2015. Stockport Town is a brand new club, but they play at the same location, Stockport Sports Village in Woodley - where Chester had a 1-1 draw in 2011. Surprisingly enough, Stockport Town effectively replaced Stockport Sports in the pyramid in 2015, joining the NW Counties League Div 1.
