Great result. Are we now 2nd on 31points? Not sure if BBC table is up to date. Bradford v King Lynn kicked off 45 minutes late due to traffic. Bradford have Just retaken the lead 2-1

I bow to your superior knowledge SB but with pessimistic fans like him who needs opposition? It’s a prediction thread. I thought that would be the score, it wasn’t, I’m glad. That ok? Yep...but why so pessimistic ? Be positive...have to be supporting our team...😂

We’re used to disappointment. Good win today.

Fully deserved the win today. It was a rotten day and the game suffered for it, but Alfreton never looked like trying to win that game and we looked comfortable throughout. Grand and Livesey were impressive, and also thought Gary Roberts got through a lot of dirty work. The main thing on a day like that is the 3 points, and it was crucial we did given our recent results. Fair play to everyone who attended today, it was bloody cold!

Expected Kings Lynn to win today, but frustrating that BPA collapsed so late on. I’m glad we’ve got them next home match.

Seriously cold day down there today. The conditions spoilt any chance of a half decent game. We did what we had to do. Deserved the win and it was much needed. Nobody really stood out but nobody performed badly.

Up until we scored I thought they were the better side and I was slightly concerned that we just couldn't seem to get going.
That first goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of them a little bit and after that they never looked like they were getting back in to it.
At 2-0 we were remarkably comfortable and managed the game well. The 3rd goal was a bit bizarre, I think a few people around me were still celebrating the disallowed goal while Elliott was slotting home after the restart.

Sounds a pretty clinical performance. Its to be expected teams coming to the Deva will have a go and look good initially. Think of Southampton at Man City. as a Premiership example. After they run out of puff and ideas the home better team wins. Just need that to be the case every home game until the end of the season!

A very professional performance, in difficult conditions. Main criticism first half, is the both Gary Roberts and Glendon, sit a little too deep. Which means the forwards need to drop, into the midfield, to link the play. We looked better and got more space, when Alfredton needed to push out. In Asente's absence we need Dudley, Hughes and Elliott to chip in with goals. SO, glad he got one today. Waring, who got through a lot of the ugly stuff today, is slightly different. In that he is a targetman. So if he could get 8-10 goals, I would be happy.

The 3rd goal was a bit bizarre, I think a few people around me were still celebrating the disallowed goal while Elliott was slotting home after the restart. This is pretty spot on. It was a dire match to be honest despite the 3 nil win. Conditions were horrible and it was bloody freezing in the stands. The third goal was very odd. It seemed that referee had signalled for a goal initially, I think even a few of their players had thought that and then they made a complete arse of the goal kick . Quite an amusing moment at the end of a forgettable 90 minutes. 3 points though and that is the main thing. Alfreton really were a dirty bunch who seemed to kick the ball away after every free kick they conceded. Nice to beat such an anti football team.

I presume he only came on in the second half for a bit of match practice ahead of filling in for a presumably suspended Roberts next week.

Think the ref provided the most entertainment today. That last goal was farcical. He’s up there with the worst so far this season.
I guess today was one of those “ugly wins” that you need to “grind out”. My only concern is when we play Wareing all we do is play long, with pretty much no variation. The vast majority of the long balls today were lost - we may as well just have passed the ball to them. The thing is that our good run earlier in the season was not based on Wareing and long balls, it was on moving it quickly through midfield to feet. Now we have Wareing, he gives us an option but I wish we didn’t forget the quick balls to feet as well - especially against physical defenders who looked pretty confident against long balls in the air. After the subs today we started to do it and ripped them apart because the variation gave us the edge and they could predict where they needed to be to defend against us.
Also I think we need to start with Stopforth. Glendon and Roberts sit too deep and slow things down. A lot of Roberts’ game today involved standing on the ball, slowing things down and passing backwards or going long. To be fair sometimes he had no choice due to lack of movement by our midfield and attack. But. I think with Stopforth and Glendon we’d get the variation I mention above.

First game for a few weeks & it wasn't great, bloody cold & a bit dull at times. Brief summary, Hughes & Waring don't link up well & Waring wasted a glorious chance but blazed over from about 8 yards. Livesey was very solid at the back but no one was amazing. Alfreton were very poor although Morgan Smith looks decent albeit a bit of a drama queen & it was just a very bizarre game we totally dominated without creating that much & yet I still think 3-0 was a fair scoreline. Not to sure what happened with the 3rd goal I was up then down then up then down but very deserved 3 points in what were horrible conditions yet the pitch looked amazing!!(cracking job with that).
