Keep expecting Tamworth to implode but they keep on winning and proving me, and many others I expect, wrong. Mk

Keep expecting Tamworth to implode but they keep on winning and proving me, and many others I expect, wrong. Mk This tbh. Makes you think though doesn't it, one team every season will just gel and get the job done, with or against the odds. So unless it's your turn it's play offs which is a lottery. I reckon we could beat them home and away this season and lose to them in the play offs, not being pessimistic, it's just the football/Chester way.

Chorley and South Shields doing us a favour tonight. Think Hereford are in a bit of a false position maybe. South Shields are more likely than them to make the playoffs I'd say. Alfreton are always there or thereabouts and are a bugger to play against. They always seem to have games in hand as well, although partly because of a decent Cup run this year.

Keep expecting Tamworth to implode but they keep on winning and proving me, and many others I expect, wrong. Mk Strange how much better they've done compared to Bishop's Stortford even though they got promoted from the same level and both won their leagues. I think maybe the South East/Isthmian feeder leagues (which Bishop's came up from) are not as strong as the Northern and Midlands ones. There's a really high concentration of clubs around there and attendances seem comparatively low from what I've seen in the NLP.

What’s particularly surprising with Tamworth now potentially pulling clear at the top is they only just won their league last season. They had virtually an identical record over the season to Coalville. Saw it said on here when he took the job that Steve Watson would definitely keep Darlo up. I wish him well and he may well do so, but it looks like they could run out of games. Seven points adrift of safety and they’ve played more games than the two sides immediately above the drop zone. Their next few games are all against sides in the play-off picture as well. Darlo ultimately backed the wrong horse in giving Gowling the job earlier in the season.

Seems a bit of similarity between Darlington and us under McCarthy. They fell like a brick in the second half of last season but kept the same manager, gave him a budget (which their fans boosted), but the manager bemoaned the budget and they took their bad form into this season. They're now presumably paying off two managers and stuck with underperforming players on big wages, so Watson will have to beg, steal and borrow to get a team together. I'm not sure on what basis anyone can be sure he'll keep them up. I like the guy and I think he did leave us in pretty good shape at the end of that season, but it wasn't an overnight success and I think I'm right in saying he didn't improve our league position.

Can’t believe how low Rushall are. Looked a decent outfit when they beat us. They came with a plan and they executed it perfectly on the day. Still say it's one of the worst Chester performances I've seen in a long time though.

The teams are incredibly bunched in the table with so many still in the scramble for playoff places, and that’s without someone making a Kidderminster like late run.

Watched that last night, funnily enough. Hopefully our own Mr Norton can get the better of him in March.

Couple of games on tonight that could have a big effect on our league placing.
Probably want a draw between Alfreton and Southshields.
Then Spenny to beat Chorley. Probably unlikely.

Spennymoor 1 up at Chorley at the moment. Alfreton 1 up too and breathing down our neck in the table, so a draw there would be very welcome.

Chorley with a couple of games in hand so if they drop points here at least that’s something.

Mansfield 9-2 Harrogate in Lg 2. That's a reassuringly old fashioned result.
