7 hours since a home goal. Biggest 2nd half of the season and we bore a 2,500 crowd into emptying out at half 4. Struggling to be positive here for next season. make your mind up you were licking his arse last week

Management Change for next season, Mahon from Curzon would be a great option, also try go for Stefan Mols ( 10 goals) & Connor Woods ( 14 goals) players from Curzon & Warrington respectively both contracted till the end of the season and would NOT cost the earth. yes mahon would be good choice but lets be fair hes done it with lakelands players and they have a bit of money i would like him though

I can't be bothered mentioning the tactics/Calum as there's nothing left to say. We reverted to type after a faily bright opening.
Gutless effort from the players. Burton was decent and Norton was when he came on but otherwise a seriously bad effort all round. Alfreton outworked us.

And why are the tactics suffocatingly negative? Because he tries to accommodate an extra Weeks which he doesn’t need to do, ends up playing Weeks out of position and ruins the shape of the team and the creativity of Weeks. Thought he’d seen the light on Friday. Also, that’s the kind of ‘performance’ from a club captain that gets you sacked. Even by his pretty regular weekly disappearing acts that was David Copperfieldesque. The football’s dour, but heaven forbid look at the personnel. Your opening question is one for the manager? There’s literally no point in your opinion on George Glendon again. I agree, he was terrible today. Like all the others. Because they’re playing football in a straight jacket. Cal has completely sucked the life out of all of them with his statistic obsessed football.

Let’s be honest, no excuses re budgets etc, just not good enough tactically, physicality or desire.

Fair play to our “toxic” fan base today. No goals scored at the Deva for hours and hours and yet 2600 in attendance. You deserve so much better than the rubbish that has been given to you since the turn of the year.
Absolutely no acknowledgment from Calum to those who stayed to the bitter end which is an absolute disgrace on his part.

I'm really excited about renewing my season ticket for next season, getting to watch these brilliant performances at home week in week out, can't wait.

On one hand I think he feels it more than anybody else but on the other if he’s staying he needs to start carrying himself a bit more professionally. He looked lost out there today.

Shall we all just accept the fact we will be a national league north outfit for the foreseeable? Without financial backing, we are going nowhere. The play off place was there for the taking. Just wonder whether there are problems behind the scenes but the performances over the past 3 months have been pathetic. Calum must take the responsibility and has been found wanting both with his signings and his tactical ability. There is more to being a manager than being able to talk BS when being interviewed. I will be renewing my season ticket regardless but I wonder how many won’t bother.

That has left me very very low. We deserved nothing from that game and were lucky to get away with only 2. They were a stronger, quicker, fitter and better organised side. But what was most depressing was that we didn’t seem to care. It was like the season was already over, not the start of 5 games of what were basically cup style matches that we had to win. Other than Burton, our players just went through the motions - and that left me feeling really let down by the side. Why didn’t we start like we did at Buxton - the first effing game we had won for ages, a different set up and a glimmer of hope for playoffs??. How does Cal not compute that that change needs to be perpetuated. But no, as soon as we are back at the Deva it’s business as usual. I don’t know if Cal’s tactics have sucked the life out of the players but they’ve definitely sucked the life out of me.

We should never accept that as good enough…this league is so poor, not only from an away day perspective, or a moral sapping home experience, lots of these clubs are little better than Sunday league jobbers, our recruitment is a shambles obviously. We should be able to attract much better experienced players.I can’t accept a player would prefer to play in front of 250 fans at Farsley for example,

To be fair to Cal this is the first shocker of a season he’s had. Even when we were on an extended unbeaten run there was an accompanying sense of freefall. It has been odd. Hopefully ell learn from it. He’s not learnt nothing if he had he’d changed up his tactics weeks ago when it was clear it wasn’t working Way to stubborn and yet again has cost us yet another season in this league Dread to think how much we’ll raise for BTB next season…

That the first time Alfreton have defeated us since March 2014. We seem to save our worst performances for the bigger games.

The stench of failure needs bleaching out of the club. Players who've been here for a long time now need clearing out. They've had enough chances, enough seasons and failed to get the job done under multiple managers. Another miserable summer awaits. Agreed. Get them out, it's just absolute failure.

Nothing wrong with that at that level but doesn’t work in National league north which has been blatantly obvious. Unless Cal calls it a day then the club financially can’t afford to dispense with his services. He has to learn from these past two seasons and as you do at all levels get a solid spine and build around it. If he carries on with same type of players then it will be again a frustrating next season.

That was so poor today. Shambolic at times. The life and confidence has been completely sucked out of these players. Calum may well have taken us as far as he can. Got to agree about Calum unfortunately. Inexperience has come home to roost. I wouldn’t want to see him leave but I think he would benefit greatly from an experienced “Director of football” over him. Of course he is so arrogant that he would never allow that to happen. I can’t believe the Blues Live commentators think the play-offs are still on the cards. They’re not. Season over. Loan players to be returned immediately to save the wages. The rest of the players are obviously on the beach already. Hotels for potential play off weekends cancelled. See you in August. ‘Director of football’ we’re a non league side not a prem side. We have no money as it is but yeah let’s waste it on someone who’d fail anyway as we’d have even less money to compete than we do now

Alfreton won the game before a ball was kicked - they won the toss and therefore the game by simply switching the ends. Is there anyone that still enjoys home games? We've been so depressingly boring for a while now. Hardly muster any shots or any meaningful pressure. Tactics are sterile and easy for teams to play against. Calum gets a bit of a free hit from me cos he's Chester through and through and we've had some good moments with him, but in all honestly if we continue to play like this at home next season then I just can't see myself continuing to write off another load of Saturday afternoons down there in the vague hope we might nick a 1-0 win. He's got to get us looking better at home because it's killing the enjoyment of watching our team. Chasing the game and the best we could muster up was a shot from Norton....fuck off. Where does his 'free hit' stop tho?

Could you imagine how toxic this fanbase would be right now if cal didn’t support Chester Absolute disaster of a season shambles This is spot on. If this was Bern & Jonno they would be burnt at the stake. Today was clueless, toothless and useless

Many teams in this league are funded by owners and not fans like us. Having said that it is a crap end to the season and we need to take a good look at our approach of trying to play ticky tacky football to get out of this league and get some physical presence back in the squad

Difficult to describe today as anything but a tactical disaster. The first half was particularly appalling: we played like an away team. No width, no pace, no urgency, and worst of all, no passion.
Their full backs were there for the taking but instead we had a flat back four with Tollitt and Thomas ahead of them pissing about in the middle of the pitch for most of the first half.
The midfield was non-existent. Unable to rely on Weeks and Glendon to pick up the ball and play it, Stanway and the defence resorted to hoofing the ball Alfreton-esque. Predictably, we lost almost every single battle against a team literally built for that type of anti-football.
The changes were too long in coming. I know he's come in for some criticism on here, but once Joel Taylor came on, suddenly we had a bit of pace and urgency down one of the flanks. He actually looked forward and ran with the ball down the wing, putting some balls into the box. The delivery wasn't there, but even if it was, the only player in the box was Peers who couldn't compete physically with their centre-halves, even if he wasn't having a stinker.
Big fan of Callum, but there's no shying away from his responsibility for today's defeat. Utterly depressing.

Why are there so many new posters suddenly appearing? People are angry and coming on to vent. I’ve not been this annoyed after a game since Marske.

He literally has the shackles removed to be the ball player/creator and all he does is slow the game down and pass it sideways.
