So in Old DC there apparently had to be some kind of manual acceptance by a moderator of new users - that does not seem to be the case here. Why did they have that? And why did they stop accepting new members?

I joined old Devachat early 2016. To this day my account has still not been accepted, meaning I was unable to post, comment, anything. All I could do was view the pages, felt like I had tape over my mouth haha.
I believe the two admin neglected the site and never really used it anymore, leaving it in a mess, plus no-one to accept new members like myself. I'm happy to finally have a voice on here!

As I understand it there was one admin: Krankie, and 3 mods. 3mm was a cracking mod. And he was/and still is, active. If it was a mod issue why would someone like 3mm not accept any new members for the last 2 years? Doesn't make any sense.

I feel when we reformed many people ditched DC and the club in general!...
My hope is if we return to the FL we'll see many return.

Mods on that forum are not able to approve new members, only administrators can, and they no longer seem to take an active role.
I remember Krankie made it more difficult for new members to sign up in around 2008-2010 as we suspected a lot of Vaughan cronies were trying to set up accounts and do a bit of spin. In fact I remember one case where threats were made against some members in a way that didn't seem entirely jokey.

Didn't it also cost to keep DC classic up and running where as DC 2.0 is free. You would think the Admins would be more active if they were spending money on it.

Would have seemed logical if the the Old Co DC, if they had no interest in continuing for whatever reason, would have passed the reins on to someone else. Its quite bizarre there is is no apparent reaction from them that a new board seems to have taken over.

I tried to sign up in October because someone (think it was MB) was having a go at some of our ball boys, but as is the case they never let me register.

Krankie accepted me in my other identity in 2012. I'm still banned on the other site.

Not trying to cause trouble .i am a wxm fan always have been . I had no trouble signing on your other page . Always had a small amount of stick but am a follower of fans owned and that . I think I only signed up to your other site about a year ago and it was easy for me .
I got accepted straight away . Maybe it's just because I'm an old fart .

I think we should remember as well that nobody got paid for being an admin or mod on that site. If Krankie or anyone else decided they'd had enough or found something better to do with their time, that's up to them and they're under no obligation to find a successor. Handing the admin privileges over to someone else might well be a tricky and time-consuming process.

I was told the club didn't approve of deva chat , and was trying to set up its own forum. it was about the same time as the club had said it would no longer recognise d chat

I didn't start a critical thread, I just happened to agree with the original poster. Our ball boys show terrible game management. If we're losing in the 85th minute I want to see them BUST A GUT to retrieve a ball (for both teams). If we're leading in the 85th minute, let the opposition player get his own ball.

Unsure but Devon Blue would've been asked to moderate in a way that benefited a certain former employee. Mind you, he banned posters for having an opposing opinion to him anyway.

I think you were talking about the ones who sit at the back at the South Stand. Just to let you know, I'm the one who sits at the Harry Mac, so don't have a go at the people who actually care about the club, and the people who treasure being a ball boy.

It tells me nothing was going on, to be honest. Simply that nobody was taking an active enough role to accept new members. A lot of conspiracy theories here, but I think they're way off the mark myself. People just get tired of doing things sometimes, and running a forum can take it out of you if you've got a lot else going on in your life.

Deva Chanter asked if anyone was running the old site in January and I raised the question behind the scenes. I found it hard to believe there had been no new members since December 2015 and asked if maybe there had been new members, but they just didn't show on the Board Statistics indicator (which still shows PaulC as the newest member). No reply as yet, but the number of people on this website who have said "been trying to register for ages" shows there probably haven't been any new members and that there was a need for an alternative, and this website is it.
I do know it was harder to register with Hotmail or Yahoo email accounts on original Devachat, those were the ones where most inappropriate posts came from. People registering with (eg) btinternet or sky email accounts tended to be more responsible. As has been said, new accounts can only be approved by one of the board admins (krankie or devachat), and for whatever reason, that just hasn't been happening.
I also wonder if this forum has inadvertently preceded one that the club or CFU intend/ed to launch, because board member Mike Day has had "Devachat.co.uk" registered for the last couple of years, but it has never been associated with a website (to my knowledge).

I joined the old DC when we reformed the club ,and tried repeatedly to register and eventually had to ask Krankie to do it at a CFU meeting as it was impossible to get approval

I registered devachat.co.uk to help Campbell out a couple of years ago when devachat.com was hijacked and appeared for a few days in Arabic. There's still a reminder of that top left of the homepage ' Deva Chat - افتح يا سمسم!' . Campbell managed to rescue things and so the domain wasn't needed. Quite happy release it if anybody wants to take it on, please get in touch.

Sounds good to me....but no idea how to go about sorting it! You'd need to get access to the domain name via the dn provider and then just point the address of this one to it.
