Well he averaged a point a game exactly what he averaging for us ,hardly breathtaking and was sacked because most of the players were refusing to sign new contracts because of him.like I’ve said before it’s all about him and his ego,why would he come here and say I’ve got things to prove and put right,if he had done a good job at Grimsby.Football is a results business and he’s not getting the results ( 2 wins)please don’t go on about how we’re improving because we’re not,we are in the relegation spot simple.yes you will go on about how jm left him in this trouble.Well I can assure you teams have been left in a worse position then us a the new manager comes in and wins 5 on the bounce so let’s not go down that route,I never wanted him in the first place and never will. What if we finish mid table and next season go on a play off push ? Will you be saying you don’t want him then ? To say we haven’t improved is just plain deluded. Why is it deluded?. I’m my opinion we haven’t your option we have,so you’re right then.we might have improved as in style of football but not in results, were still in bottom 4 that’s all what matters.yes if he manages to get us half way and then go on a play off push I will admit I’m wrong. Where as if we continue to improve as you say and still go down will you.

8 Games played so far for Bignot and 2 wins, 2 draws, 4 defeats = 8 points from 8 games. Prior to that we have played 11 games and gained 8 points.
On paper it doesn't look like a lot has changed but some of the fixtures Bignot has had i feel for him. Tranmere, Maidstone, Eastleigh away is not easy, home to Woking and Boreham Wood are tricky games but we were still finding our feet at that stage, we still are now as its going to take a while to get rid of the McCarthy stench and get the players up to speed with the extra training.
The last few games have seen better performances, but we are struggling to get the results. Last minute v Barrow was superb, unlucky to go to Maidstone and get done 96th minute, then better side against a Wrexham side who had one shot and scored and finally the draw at Eastleigh where we should have won. Mixed bag.
Things are improving but it will take time and we could do with a couple more players and get rid of the dross, but once again it will take time. Bignot is most certainly the guy for the job and that has been a marked improvement with this bunch and we are only 1 point from safety.
We have some not to shabby fixtures coming up, Bromley away will be tough but following that we have Orient away who are struggling, Daggers at home who are nowhere near hitting the heights of last season and have had a few poor results of late, then we Halifax, Guiseley twice, Solihull and Hartlepool, all very winnable fixtures.

Bignot has made us full time. Brought in players for nothing who are now our better players. Shipping out the poorer players, those coasting along stealing a wage. He’s improved performances. A much better style of play. Players have much more confidence.

a miserable run of results up until the new year and fans will be calling for his head. That’s how it works. Itchy feet and all that. Has the CFC board got the balls to back their man? I somehow doubt that. He's got a good CV and the only one calling for his head is a WUM. We would have finished bottom with about the same number of points that Hyde Utd got 4 years ago if we'd stuck with McCarthy. He's having to make do and mend with an awfully unbalanced squad. If we do go down it won't be his fault, it'll be McCarthy's.

Poor squad, new manager etc. Our board backed Keates and a allowed him to start planning from the off. Carl Darlington was a done deal almost immediately. Keates was backed too in the transfer market financially and he steadied the ship. The Chester board need to back their man in pretty much the same way because like us 12 months ago some of your squad are clearly not up to the task or fight ahead.

I've been following FootballWebPages all season, particularly their predicted final table. Today they have us finishing 23rd with 30 points and only one more win the season (Guiseley {h}). They've actually been quite generous to us predicting the Dagenham game to end 1-1. They have Halifax 5th from bottom with 42 points, which is interesting. It's worth looking at. I see us either drawing or losing next Saturday as we're developing a bit of a losing streak v Solihull. All very depressing. I'm spending 3 weeks in Glasgow over Christmas, so when I return for the Gateshead match it could be clearer which league we'll be in next season, although I'm convinced we'll be playing Altrincham again next season.

The way Football Web Pages predicts the final table is very mathematical. It assumes everybody's recent form will continue for the rest of the season.

In our case that's very accurate, although it has Orient safe which suggests your theory is wrong.

If you look at our form throughout 2017 we will get relegated. Unless there is significant improvement and luck, there's no way we will stay up.
December is a bit month for MB, and us. We've got Solihull, Halifax, Guiseley, Hartlepool and Guiseley. He's been unlucky with injuries, and the fixtures haven't been too kind either. However, we've been really poor for parts of games. That has cost us. We could have won, or drawn, games that we haven't. Those lost points must be stopped. When you play ok you need to get something.
As I said, big month for MB. He's been mainly immune from criticism so far, for obvious reasons. This is the month for him to show whether he's the man to lead us out of this mess. Or whether he takes us deeper into the mire. We'll have a good idea by then.
If you look at the other teams down towards the bottom of the table. Some will have money to spend to get them out of it. Barrow, Orient, Eastleigh probably will. Guiseley usually do too. We'll need all the stars aligned to get safe.

I think it is far more likely that we will survive than 4 teams will finish with 36 points or fewer. However I do think we have to have a major upturn in form to get there. It does at least look like there are 8 teams in the mix.

If we survive this season, which I believe is unlikely, Marcus Bignot's feat will deserve the Freedom of Chester.

We should have gone down last season and our awful board totally failed to recognise that.
Rather than taking proactive steps to address the problem (like we all begged for) they chose more of the same for this season and then found themselves making the changes on the backfoot when the damage was done.
We don't just look a bottom 4 side now, we look a bottom of the table side. I want the best for this club but the fact there continues to be no accountability is shameful.

Very sad but good accurate points made above. Agreed next weeks game against Solihull Moors is massive. A win would give us a boost going into the xmas programme of games. A defeat would be disastrous and you can’t see us staying up if we loose next Saturday

You will not be relegated. Yes they will unless there is a massive improvement. 18 points half way through season chasing 32 more to survive it's not looking good but who knows what will happen.

Heartbeat of the fans at least 30 % of the posters on here do nothing but winge and wine about just about everything connected to Chester F.C. this Manager is not going to get a fair crack of the whip, the hate mongers are working overtime to rubbish everything he does. Its not his team he can’t do a thing about the players under contract and we have no money to spend on new players hence the low cost lones being the only way he can bring new blood in, give the man a chance and get behind the team.

This is his team. He needs to coach them, manage them and start winning some games. He doesn't have the skills and the board should of seen this.

The mind boggles.

I sense the level of criticism directed towards Bignot will probably increase should we lose on Saturday, a day where we could climb our of the bottom four or end it bottom of the table so tight has it become in the bottom five. Outside of that group the only side I can really see offering us any potential salvation are Halifax, on a dreadful run and I don’t think with the sort of resources to buy their way out of trouble (not in the way that Eastleigh etc probably can anyway). They’ve still got a fair cushion at the moment, but a win for us there just before Christmas would suck them into it and I guess they would have to then look at whether to make a managerial change. There’s some good opportunities for us to pick up points in the coming weeks, but a failure to do so doesn’t bear thinking about.

Trying to think of some positives. When we do go down MM will have to walk ... surely. If he does, who do we get to hold the boards hand then? I'm more in the camp that we need an MM type figure to keep us in one piece. There appears to be very little leadership on our board. I fear we'd just crumble without a "professional" holding their hand. On the plus side the Board would then need to communicate themselves. We could do with a Durkin or Ollerenshaw type on there.

Sorry, but for me, the idea that Maguire's position would either be tenable or affordable for a club relegated to the Conference North is just nonsense.
The board should be contingency planning for relegation as we speak and that includes accepting and preparing for the potential removal of the CEO's position.
I have little to no confidence that the current board will have even considered this - they will be absolutely horrified at the idea of not having a CEO to hide behind.

Without a professional working during the day, who would contact and deal with our business sponsors? Firms expect to be contacted during the day, when they are open/working. They may also expect and need a day time contact. Our Board would mainly work at the club outside their normal working hours. If they put money in they will expect something in return. It's naive to think otherwise.
Our Board can't even communicate with us, the members. Sponsors would have no chance, and soon drop off. It can't be easy trying to market us at the moment. Even the customers are unhappy with the product.
If we were winning games, and playing well hardly anyone would give a second thought to MM.
As someone else said earlier, we need to separate the football side from the community side. Run the football side professionally. Get the best we can afford and drive it hard.the Community side should be run in conjunction with, but separately. Different goals, different people, different skills.
