Alex Reid. Same name, different guy. Doubt that would worry her.

He started off well then went down hill. Didn’t they say the same thing about Jon Walters? Let’s face it Wrexham fans are hardly the brightest bulbs out there. Just needed to look at the South Stand last month. Like the “Hills Have Eyes” on a night out! Didn’t you lot release Lee Dixon and give us Gary Bennett on a free? Worked out well for you. On Reid, if you get him and play to his strengths you may well have a decent player. He looked the part when he first arrived, but went off the boil dramatically. He does come across as arrogant and full of himself. He also looked lazy and half arsed at times. Though I do think our style of play didn’t help. Needs a big lad with him and play on the shoulder of the defender.

If its Alex Reid he definitely has ability. For whatever reason it didn't really work out for him at our place, but a different system could bring the best out of him. I get the feeling that when it clicks for him somewhere he'll score goals. After missing a sitter in his final game against Aldershot he went back to Fleetwood and put 4 past Southport for their development team.

On dear, Hannibal is wrong yet again - Lee Dixon left here to join Bury. ANOTHER FACT.

According to On the Borderline we received £3,500 for Dixon after he opted to join Bury when his contract expired. An absolute pittance given what he went on to achieve but he wasn’t released as was originally suggested.

I think he moved to Stoke then Arsenal from Bury. I said that without at least checking on Wiki. If I remember correctly he wasn't that great when he played for us.

He was good getting forward but defensively not too hot.

If I remember correctly Dixon was partnered by Martin Lane who was considered the better player, although Dixon was very young. They would probably be better than Halls and LRT even now.

Would I be right in thinking Chester finished bottom of he football league with two future international players in the team Lee Dixon and Andy Holden Around early 1980s

New striker is a young lad, coming from Crewe. Not what we need in my opinion.

You aren't wrong on that one. I'm confident MB's approach is beg, borrow and steal until he finds someone who makes a difference. Lets hope it works.

A degree of trial and error is to be expected, I think. We need to remember this isn't his team, it's someone else's team that he's trying to turn into something half decent with nothing to spend. It should've been him with the budget to spend during the summer as he's been available since April, and then we would've been able to judge him differently. I keep comparing his job to Atkins, who also inherited a very poor team and had to make wholesale changes with nothing to spend. He got a solid team together, but it didn't happen straightaway and some of his early signings were quite forgettable - remember Ally Pickering (ex-Premier League but looked past it when playing for us), Jamie Robinson (mostly injured) and John Keister (decent at first but then kept out of the team by a young Paul Carden)?

I am hoping that Biggers has got the team behind Dolly the Sheep to clone Matty McNeill, Graham Barrow, Trevor Storton and Mickey Stowell from DNA samples, and they play on Saturday.
