Just reading through the threads about the Harry Mac, dwindling attendances and the Atmosphere. There have been a few debates over the years about a "Ten Pound Terrace" I think with a little thought and planning this could easily be a reality next season and a huge Marketing initiative. This season, you could get an "early bird" Harry Mac season ticket before 24th June for £255 = £11.08 per game By introducing and heavily promoting the "Ten Pound Terrace" Season ticket as an "Early" Early bird offer, maybe purchase before 10th June, we could create a huge buzz, get in some earlier revenue and have an initiative that could increase the number of season tickets sold. The "Ten Pound Terrace" Season ticket would need to be priced at £230 = £10 per game or £240 if you included the first FA Cup match with it. I don't know how many Early Bird or Full Price tickets were sold this season, but with the right Marketing message to the right people, I'd be confident of a huge uplift in sales. I remember, I think, Bradford, Hull and Port Vale selling huge amounts of great offer Season tickets in the past. What says you Devachatters  |

What says you Devachatters I think it's a great idea, problem is it has fallen on deaf ears for years With a new chairman who seems pretty active and engages with the fans, this idea could at least be considered. The atmosphere at the ground is like a morgue, let's that get that terrace bouncing and be the 12th man. |

Bradfords season tickets cost £149 for adults this season, which works out an average of £6.50 per game, why can't we do this,fill the ground, get money in before the season to build a decent squad instead of having a half empty ground week in week out, and the more people that buy will buy food, drink etc each home game, and with not having to pay £15/18 each week they will have money to spend, not rocket science is it

However I believe the issue is the lack of youngsters, not just for the atmosphere around the ground but for the clubs future sustainability. The middle section traditionally populated by young lads is now virtually empty with the sides busier. The 'ten pound terrace' initiative would be targeting a completely different demographic, and whilst it might improve attendance on the terrace (not neccessarily overall) and help the atmosphere it's questionable just how viable it is for the club. |

I know this is a question of atmosphere rather than money but if we are losing out on income it is very unlikely it will be implemented. He has had experience of this at other clubs and clearly knows his stuff. Tough situation to be in.

If we want to make ourselves seen as a true community club, then we must make it affordable football. Nobody wants to pay £15/18 to watch conference football. Yes, I understand the need to have the increased prices, to help us "compete". But we seem to have lost our way with our community ethos these last few years and that's why people have become a little disillusioned with it all.
As a previous poster has said, Alan Povey is very proactive and it gives us belief that our voices on here and social media might be heard. If we made it cheaper, the crowds will be bigger (you'd hope) and the 12th man (the fans) can push the side on to "compete".

I'm a massive supporter of the Ten Pound Terrace idea but the upfront season ticket payment suggestion will not solve the problem as the sort of people we felt would benefit from a Ten Pound Terrace will or be able to afford it if done in that way. It's about inclusivity, community and returning to our roots of reformation.
You always get the feeling that as long as the elite in the LL are looked after, the plebs can take care of themselves and that's wrong.

It would attract lots more people in but as our chairman and Mark Maguire have pointed out we would get no more money as we do now. But i would rather see a full Terrace than one which has a big gap in the middle.

Do you all really think that a ten pound terrace would get the harry mac full. It might get a bit busier as some will migrate from the stands but it will not attract hoards of new supporters. It's what happens on the field that will determine the amount of support we attract.

I'm a massive supporter of the Ten Pound Terrace idea but the upfront season ticket payment suggestion will not solve the problem as the sort of people we felt would benefit from a Ten Pound Terrace will or be able to afford it if done in that way. It's about inclusivity, community and returning to our roots of reformation. You always get the feeling that as long as the elite in the LL are looked after, the plebs can take care of themselves and that's wrong. I think you rather undermine your point with that unnecessary comment at the end. The Legends Lounge is not for me personally, but if there are people who will pay top dollar to watch us, then I imagine it's high profit and pretty easy money. I think the idea of a Ten Pound Terrace is romantic and I would applaud the club for giving it a go. Would it work? Not sure, people with more marketing nowse than me seem to think it wouldn't. |

For most of the season Wrexham have been below us yet get twice as many people watching them. Too many people in Chester are armchair TV supporters |

We seem more interested in making a profit than actually being a community club with a feel good factor. Hats off to Jim green and the community team for yesterday's south stand being packed with kids, this needs doing more regular! The attendance would have been piss poor without them. |

This idea that Bradford City have got selling adult season tickets for £149 is brilliant, only downside is what if you only sell the same amount of season tickets that your selling now, there's a massive shortfall in lost revenue. its a tough decision to make selling £10 terrace tickets as I'd think more people that usually sit down will stand up if it's cheaper. Again it's a catch 22 situation.

I don't see a lot wrong with the Blues Bar really - it could be bigger, but there's limited expansion space with the car park and everything. Legends Lounge customers are essentially paying for luxury, and like I say I don't have the money or inclination to pay for that, but if others do then I'm not going to complain about it going back into the club, and the Blues Bar is perfectly adequate I think. |

I'm glad this post is creating some debate, thank you.
Although I don't have the time to serve on the Board at the moment, I would be happy to look at the feasibility of the initiative.
We can all hypothesise, but without cold hard numbers that's all we can do.
Does anyone know the breakdown of season ticket sales for this season?
By each area of the ground, Adult, Child, Concession, how many early bird, how many full price etc.
Would be great to do some calculations if anyone can supply that information.
Fully agree that simply reducing prices carte blanche would likely lead to loss of overall revenue, however an initiative (Marketed correctly as all Marketeers are not created equal :-) ) could significantly increase the sale of season tickets.

One of the televised games would have been good to trial it, any potential loss would be covered by the TV payments Also don't think the season ticket idea would work, the people that would benefit from the ten pound terrace are unlikely to have a spare £230 to pay in a lump sum. I do believe we are looking to make it more affordable for older teens / young adults next season which is a step in the right direction |

I am really in favour of exploring more options for getting the Harry Mac full. Lowering the ticket price next season may be the key to attract teenagers and students. A lot of supporters that used to be in the Harry Mac have moved over to the East Stand so may be they would gravitate back if the there was a significan saving. However, it will have to be throught through very carefully as I know Mark Maquire is mindful of current season ticket holders and their value for money.
I guess a bit of research around other clubs may be the key as I am sure others have gone through the same dilemma and it is very difficult to attract the casual fan nowadays with so much competition and the QUEUE DOWN BUMPERS LANE DOESN'T HELP! (Any feedback on that one Sirfred?)

I would like to see some sort of loyalty scheme for under 16s. Could even link it in with signing up for CFU. Attend a certain amount of games before Xmas and then pay half price after Xmas etc. It is a risk to go for the £10 terrace so I can understand the reasoning against it, but at some point we have to be brave/creative in terms of developing the next generation of our fan base. I'd be interested in what ideas Mark and Alan have for the pricing and ways of enticing younger fans into the ground. I'd really like to see us work with Chester Uni - that place is full of young adults looking for something to do for cheap at weekends, and as a community club we need to be developing links with places like this.

I like the idea of CFU members getting a discount and early access to tickets. I support a 10 quid terrace, or like others have said, loyalty schemes, goto 4 games and get the 5th free or something.

Just ignore them sorts of people. It's really enjoyable going to places like Torquay and Gateshead, not watching premiership. |

If it about getting teenagers in, then the argument is invalid, as they only pay £3 up to 15, £5 up to 17 and £10 up to 21 as it stands.
The idea of £10 for adults is a good one, whether its feasible is up to people paid more than me. Whether it would make more people attend we will never know until we try I guess?
To me the idea of a loyalty card is superb. Like the coffee bean stickers. Buy 5 get one free. If aimed at teenagers, coupled with the 12th man appeal, it could be a real goer. The idea of free stuff (even if it is only saving you a fiver) is very appealing to everyone. Look at nectar points, or shell points etc.
Something needs to be done, the Harry Mac is dying on its arse at present.
PS - I love the fact I can type "arse" and it reads "arse". Now, what if I was to type "m*&*£f*$*$"?
