Never taking throw ins from where the ball went out. The player picks up the ball, walks up the line a bit the takes a run up before throwing. Why? To get more distance? They've already pinched 10-15 yards! You see it at all levels, even in the Euros and the officials never do anything about it. Put a wall up 9 yards from a free kick and they're all over it.
What happened to the old days when they stood on the line roughly where it went out and throw it back into play?

On the linesman theme what irritates me is when the ball goes out for a throw in and the linesman waits for the ref to point who's got the throw before raising his flag Point of order from ex Ref- if the ball is in the refs half of your side of the pitch as a linesman you follow his lead to stop getting different decisions which seems more of an irritation to the crowd. On your side of the pitch it’s your lead, the ref often gives a secret signal to the direction he thinks. Sometimes you are too close or simply don’t see who touched last. In that instance you don’t give anything but look for guidance from the ref. It’s about getting it right and good communication really. Lining is the toughest job I’ve ever done !

Linesmen in games with VAR must wonder what they're there for. They're basically told to only flag once a goal is scored or if its obviously offside, although Shaw was flagged offside in the England game on Saturday when he wasn't. Maybe it would be better to just not have linesmen in these games and let the on-pitch ref call the obvious offsides. Better still, get rid of VAR.

Some Euro-related ones...
- The obsession with showing 'fan zone' celebrations. Yes, we get it, they're cheering and throwing beer!
- Camera cuts to a fan looking utterly devastated, who then sees their image on the big screen so throw their arms about wildly with a huge grin on their face.

Seeing yet another bloody Holywood star in a wrexham shirt... Saw a picture of Shaun Wallace from The Chase wearing one yesterday too 😔 - always preferred Anne anyway!!

Can never quite make my mind up about Keane. Sometimes he hits the nail on the head, other times he can just come across as a bit of an arsehole. He's obsessively task-minded, almost to the point of a psychopath. It's probably what made him a great player though.

The linesman could just drop a marker on the ground where the ball went out and the throw would have to be taken from there. If the player takes it even one yard away from the marker it's a foul throw

I read this morning that Messi has now 'cemented his greatness' now that Argentina won the Copa America. Ridiculous that players seemingly can only be considered greats by some when they achieve certain honours - even the greatest player I've ever seen!

You would need an extra person on each side to run up and down to throw down the marker, or extra linesmen to cover the length of the pitch. It could end up like American Football with a cast of thousands on the touchline.

When the camera is zoomed really far out for a goal, but the cameraman all of a sudden finds the zoom in button to zoom in for the celebration 🤦♂️.

AFCON Special... Players taking their mobile phones to the trophy presentation The attempt by the organisers to get Koulibaly to lift the cup amongst the dignitaries and not his teammates That was a bit weird! Not sure whether it was some sort of demand from the president of Cameroon that he had to present the trophy.

I hate the BBC's opening sequence for the World Cup. A mess that I'm finding more annoying every time I see and hear it.
Also, adverts that are trying to monetise both Christmas and the World Cup at the same time, e.g. "get these Christmas pizzas for the big match!"

People moaning about VAR. It is here to stay. Moaning about off sides that a millimetres off. Who gives a shit. It is off side. Only change I would make is do it off the players feet. Not arms, or heads etc. Their feet.
Dissent towards officials. It is their decision end of. They're not changing it. Yellow card for you, yellow card for you, everyone arguing is given a yellow. Ref talks to the captain only.

WORLD CUP SPECIAL... Countdowns to kickoff "Let's see what the reaction was back home..." [footage of people throwing beer]
The need to label players the next Messi / Gerrard / Xavi etc Does anyone who actually likes football watch the game from those sorts of venues? All the genuine footy fans I know either go to the pub with their mates or just watch from home, not from those awful ‘sports bars’ or open-air viewing parties. Whenever they cut to footage of lads in replica shirts, chucking beer in the air, the whole atmosphere always feels so forced, and most of the supposed ‘England fans’ they interview on the news clearly couldn’t give two hoots about the sport apart from during major tournaments. Perhaps I shouldn’t get as annoyed as I do when I see everyone jump on the England bandwagon but it always gives me images of John Thomson in the Fast Show. More than anything else, though, I just see these beer showers as a waste of a perfectly good pint - especially considering I can’t imagine pints at these places are cheap.

Bunch of tryhard bedwetters who buy an "England 1990 retro shirt" from Top Man and buy a pint of donkey piss to throw when we get a corner against Estonia so it looks good on ITV news. Some of the England "fans" make it very hard to support England. Don't even start me on the goat fans and that Yma O Hyd song they sing. Most of them know nothing beyond araf and diolch.
