What really amazes me is that we've had 24 posts on this thread, and not a single pun about shepherds yet. This forum is losing its ways. Don't worry, when one does, the rest will follow

From Solihull forum It was the club that Twitted he wanted to be closer to home. Ive spoken to him myself and its not the case. He gave his part time job up to go full time with us. Hes asked for a bit more cash to help him out. He wa told no. Chester offered him what he wants and he hasnt got to train with them just join them on match days. His own words were he would he would jump at the chance to come back to moors he loved the club and the fans. He's gutted he had to leave Probably knows them all personally.

Looks like the RHJ deal is dead in the water. Could still happen according to Dave Powell.

Having seen a lot of him. I think some on here may be pleasantly surprised by this lad Every time we make a signing Rio is on here saying 'good signing' but he hasn't done so - that worries me Let’s see what people think at 5 pm tomorrow. He’s quite versatile has some pace and get beat a player. How many have we got that can do this?

IF what was quoted on the solihull fans forum is true thats not very impressive that he has left a club he loves and would want to return. solihull are fighting for their national league status along with us so if it came to say the last game of the season and if by us winning it would send the moors down how would he approach the match?( i hope as a professional in the right manner) with regards to training once again IF true i wonder how other players who live away from the city feel that one of the squad can train closer to home and just turn up on match days while they have to travel a distance each day(as quoted tom shaw had to ) you assume the new signing is just on short term contract say till end of season but if he helps to keep us up and returns to solihull next season i for one wont mind

They’re splashing the cash at the moment and even just paid a fee to sign a top defender. Sheperd must have been on £2 a week at Solihull if we’ve been able to out muscle them financially.

Been told that a stumbling block in the RHJ negotiations is Grimsby wanting a clause included so they can recall him at 24 hours notice if they wish.

Rather have him here wth a chance of being recalled, than not have him here at all. Who knows, we could play this new lad at right back and he could be ace and we can drop our interest in RHJ. Ideally though I’d be wanting the new lad to play as a winger and we could get RHJ in. Sorry, I’m referring to him as the new lad as I can’t spell his name.

What about the right sided midfielder/Winger we've already got on the books? And who has another year left on his current deal? We lack a left mid. If it was a toss up of signing RHJ or adding some much needed balance to the side. I'd play the new lad at right back, use existing personnel at right mid and bring in a proper left mid if the budget allows it

I think some need to cut the slack a little. Wait until 5PM tomorrow then judge him. This is a solid signing. Watched him before and he seemed good enough. It’s a tiny bit worrying about RHJ, but I think Bignot said that there could be news at the start of next week. Murombedzi has obviously played under Bignot before so would know him well already. Welcome to Chester FC Shepherd! 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

I hope you stay positive as the years go by, as Chester football club has the ability to kill the hopes of mere mortals. You are certainly the lifeblood of the next generation of supporters for this new football club and I can only wish you well for the future. Danny also.

If I may be so bold I predict he will do so well that we will one day name a pie after him, but it's depressing that the usual suspect are already bleating about this signing.

Surely that is something we have lacked this season? Having seen plenty of him, I feel it’s a decent bit of business. To think with RHJ staying if that happens it will give us plenty on the right hand side.

To think with RHJ staying if that happens it will give us plenty on the right hand side. Hopefully so. By the description he’s exactly the sort of player we’re lacking. Someone with pace who can run past players and put a cross in to the box. We’ve looked improved for switching back to 4-4-2 since the new year but it’s fair to say we don’t have the personnel to see it to best effect. We’ve looked solid but very unspectacular at the same time in those games, admirably digging out points but it’ll only get us so far. We haven’t scored more than one in 90 minutes against 11 men since Eastleigh in early November, which surely informs everyone that we just don’t create enough. Four central midfielders across midfield might make us difficult to beat but we need more than that in our position, we’re lacking someone who can run forwards with the ball and create something for the strikers. I want to see Akintunde and Mahon in the same starting XI myself, two players who can carry the ball forwards themselves. At the moment we have James and Dawson on either wing getting the ball and immediately turning their backs to goal and passing back or sidewards. We won’t win enough games doing that.

So our truly committed manager signs a friend he's signed before, who has played so well this season that his team is even lower in the league than we are - and then tells him he needn't turn up for training, just roll up on match day! Then his friend even tells his previous supporters he wished he could stay! Just about says it all!

Spot on they were out in force after Myles Anderson signed and he did well for us at centre back. Remind me, regarding Myles (away) Anderson - his playing record? And how many matches has he played for us since signing? Forgive me, he’s injured, it would be good to hear from the club what the injury is and when he might be fit to return. I’ve not seen him at the club or near it for ages. Was going to say I think he's only played one game. He may have "done well for us" in that game but I genuinely can't remember.

I remember playing footy for a team who started picking lads who only ever turned up on a match day over lads who were turning up and training week in, week out.
It didn't end well.

Anders thanks for your as ever constructive comments. Having seen a fair bit of him he can play at right back or on the right midfield or wing. He is quite pacy and can beat a player. At Solihull they made the pitch as small as it could be as they were getting done frequently in wide areas. I believe he was frustrated with this as obviously it didn’t help him having little space to work with. His arrival will allow others to play in more natural positions which has to be a good thing. Let’s hope we beat Gateshead today

Tom Shaw is important in our position. If necessary we could have “cut him some slack” to stay with us until the end of the season. Instead our esteemed manager lets Tom go and replaces him with a part timer who has come from a club lower than us in the league who only needs to show his face for the matches. And Bignot is the best manager for us? There are members on here who would do a better job.

The lads on a short term contract it’s a good deal for the lad and a good deal for us, we have been crying out for width on the wings and now we have it . Let’s give the lad a chance and you never know, think of him down the right and Mahon coming on on the left to stretch teams when we are at home.

It's boring reading how this lad isn't going to train with us. Absolutely no credibility to that claim whatsoever.
As for the signing, it looks to me a good one. He is the right profile for us. Young, athletic and can be improved by Bignot. Give me this type of signing over another 29 year old, injury prone central midfielder any day.

Using fake news against our own manager Danny, I respect you as a really positive supporter and poster on here. Two reasons why I’d never tell you to “shut up” one being the respect I’ve already mentioned and secondly this is a message board where supporters, usually of the same club, can discuss their various views on the club. We we don’t agree on Bignot, I’m sorry, but I’ll still be there this pm praying for the right result COYB

Time for Bignot to herd the players together following the signing of Shepherd. By hook or by crook we will avoid relegation.

By Shaw going we have a chance to turn Reece H-J's short term loan that we previously were told we would be unlikely to extend due to having no money left to a long-term loan until the end of the season - and the evidence that the two are linked is that MB could only try and contact Grimsby to do this when the Shaw deal was done, but as a result it was not enough time to get RHJ re-signed as his loan period had officially ended (but with any luck we will have him back next week). It has also I strongly suspect also allowed us funds to sign Shepherd who appears to be the creative style of player we have been crying out for all season (and I prey that he is). Now with your nasty anti-manager bile against MB none of that will register, or if it does you will just find something else to use as a stick against the club, but in a situation where any manager we have has to rob Peter to pay Paul the changes in the past couple of days will hopefully make sense going forward. It is a chance as everything is without a budget left to buy other options, to buy depth and to have plan B's, but in my opinion a chance that was worth taking. Now, what mud do you want to throw next?

Shepherd had an impressive debut? From today do you think he looks like the best of the players available to us? Bignot is out of his depth, was the wrong appointment and I think more people agree with my viewpoint than yours. However you are a supporter of the club too, so I wish you all the best. No malice from this end.
