Ross Hannah has added another Twix to his value by scoring twice for Southport tonight

He says he wont play in the north, and yet he is. As for him scoring 2 goals, he has a good game, then has 6 bad ones.

Ok surely if they both refuse to play in the North for us while under contract then we could sack them on the spot

I donât think Hannah and James have flat out refused to play in the Conference North. I think maybe thereâs been a bit of Chinese whispers between what was said by Laurence Kirby at the meeting and whatâs appeared on here.
To me, Laurence seemed to be hinting at the meeting that the two players donât see their future in the North and are looking to move on. I donât think he was trying to make a point of them being big-headed, but simply trying to reassure us that they do not intend to just sit out their contract.
Naturally, they want to play at Conference Premier level, but they have to accept that theyâve been poor at that level this season, and must know that we want them out, so they may have to take the best offer they can get, even if itâs a bit of a sideways move. I suspect theyâll both end up somewhere like Southport, Stockport, York, Harrogate, Chorley, FCUM, Boston - one of the more financially backed or better supported North clubs.

I think James will be able to pick up another contract at National League level but it's going to be more unlikely for Hannah.

Personally I would take Tom Crawford Gary Roberts and Cain Noble over the likes of James Dawson sand Turnbull any day of thr week.

Absolutely, I'm amazed it took some people so long to suss Dawson out. Very disappointed with how Hannah and James have turned out for us. With James he seemed to have an attitude problem from day one, never really found out why.

So what is the current situation with these 2? They are contracted to us until end of next season, but currently on loan at Southport and Barrow who presumably will be paying the wages during this period. Does the loan end at the end of the season? And what then?

Thats the 65 million dollar question, as they revert back to us, unless they can find clubs. However; both have indicated they dont want to play in the North and we need them off the books.

Laurence said at the meeting the worst case scenario is they're still with us next season and picking up a wage, as their contracts entitle them to do.
I really don't think it will come to that. It's got to be in their interest to move, even if they'd be earning a bit less?

I'd assume they will return after the final game of the season. Then stay with us until 1st July when any new contract would kick in.
That's assuming they can get a decent one elsewhere. If not, they might hang around until just before the start of next season, then move on.
Either way, we'll likely end up subsidising the move. Sooner we know that we can plan better for next season. We can't 'hope' they'll go nicely at no cost. We need to know the cost implications for certain.

You would think the Low would be a good fit for Hannah, they pay top money and he would be a big name at that level but the standard of football of the league is lower because it hasnât got the strength in depth of the National league. This would give him a few more years of playing at a decent level.

He and James are both from South Yorkshire though so I think it's more likely they'll end up at a club like York or Harrogate.

I thought loan players were no longer allowed to play against their parent club, but looking around it seems as though it's at the parent club's discretion. Even though we have nothing to play for and it's in our interest for James to do well at Barrow, I'd hope we wouldn't be daft enough to let him play on Saturday. Imagine the stink it would create if he scored the winning goal and it kept them up!

We certainly don't owe Barrow manager Ady Pennock any favours after when he was boss at FGR he recalled Matty Taylor from us earlier than planned.

Indeed questions would be asked by Woking if James had a meaningful impact in keeping Barrow up with a positive result against the club to which he is contracted.

If heâs allowed to play against his parent club then thatâs the terms of his loan agreement. Theyâd hardly be in a position to complain about an on loan player playing in a game that heâs perfectly entitled to.

Southport canât stand the âhas-beenâ âmercenaryâ âwage wasterâ just a few words on their forum. I canât believe we managed to get rid if only for a couple of months, thatâs saved us about ÂŁ10,000+ on the wage bill. Donât understand why the experts on the FWG were pissed off that Young helped Chester out by moving him on.

Seeing bits and bobs on twitter, I think Barrow have been happy with James and would like him to stay. It's almost in our interest to lose on Saturday so they stay up and take him on permanently next season?

On the flip side, if it's true that Barrow are interested in signing Astles, he's more likely to go there if they stay up.
