Apparently they were sent on July 6th so should have arrived early the following week. A copy was also sent to Lawrence. We will go and hunt for them Monday. Not found their way to the shop yet. Fingers crossed will be on sale next Saturday.

Thanks. The club shop has been sent five copies for free as a tester, so will be curious to see if they're in there next Saturday. Otherwise I'll be flogging it from my car boot on Bumper's Lane. Hi can you confirm please when these were sent? We will put them out today if they are at the ground? Ordered mine from the publisher Thursday, looking forward to receiving and reading it. First chapter is excellent. There were none in the club shop today sadly.

A word of warning. If you start reading this book, it's very hard to stop.
My Sunday plans have gone out of the window for sure. It's just brilliantly written and so many laugh out loud moments.
Highly recommended and a must read for all Chester fans and long suffering non league supporters.

Particularly like the one about the railway sleeper and the goat ! NB His family need medals!

Well, it took me less than two days to finish this brilliant book.
Laughed so much at the part where Laurence Kirby ended up on his back when a chair collapsed on him in a social club before an away game. Lots of moments like that. The sleeper and the goat.......classic.
Hope your marriage is still in tact. Congratulations on the card and the ripping read😁

BREAKING:I will be at the club before the Spennymoor game tomorrow to sign copies of the book. Current plan is club shop at 2pm although just heard it might be moved to the Blues Bar depending on space. There are 20 copies available - when they're gone, they're gone (until the next match).
Many thanks to nwas and his wife for organising this.
Up the Seals,
SH

Sadly not. Got a wedding in France next Saturday which is going to sabotage it early doors. With any luck, in a couple of years I'll be writing The Card 2: Back In The League

I appreciate there's not much passing traffic down there at the moment, but the book is apparently back on sale at the club shop (no water damage). Otherwise, I might have a couple in my car at Telford.

Do the club have any of these in stock? I believe so. I'm hoping the game goes ahead at The Deva as I'm happy to come in and sign some more copies if there's the demand.

A great read, it really made me laugh and put some kind of perspective on my last 45 years supporting this club. what an achievement for a southern based supporter.

Game on so I'll be at the club shop from about 2pm to sign books if anyone's interested. They went pretty swiftly last time so promptness recommended. Thanks.

Quick bump for this as I'd like you all to be the first to know that The Card has been longlisted for the William Hill Sports Book Of The Year. Very exciting, and not bad for a shitkicker from Bouverie Street. More being printed soon, but there might be a few signed copies in the club shop. Otherwise, Amazon is your best bet. www.amazon.co.uk/Card-Steve-Hill/dp/1910906131Talking of which, I've been given a free £500 bet at William Hill, so if anyone has any tips...

Put it all on CFC to get promoted via the play-offs - should be able to get reasonable odds.

An idea for the follow-up book... Place 100 £5 bets on various games (including Chester obviously) - talking about your adventures at each of the games. On holiday from tomorrow and have bought your book to read whilst I am away. looking forward to it!
