Ah Manky on Islam, this should be good. No doubt you are an expert on the Quran so can you answer these three questions: 1. The Quran describes the consumption of alcohol as being like? 2. Their steadfast refusal to even acknowledge that they did anything wrong has always made it hard for me to relate to them. I would be beating myself up for the rest of my life if I had ever done anything as stupid as left three toddlers alone in a hotel room abroad while I went out for tapas, if indeed that’s even what happened. |

Some of us were ahead of the game a few years ago on Oldco DC about the parents, but the less said about that fallout the better... It's never quite added up to me. Intelligent, well-to-do people with good jobs, just leaving three tiny children alone, out of sight, in a foreign country? Did none of those 'tapas seven' think that was a bit off? As a father now myself, it makes even less sense to me than it did at the time, and not only would I not do it myself, I would not happily sit and have a few drinks and a meal knowing that someone else among the party was doing it.
I'm not buying some of the conspiracy theories, but I can't help thinking they know more than they're letting on. In general, I think people have become more suspicious of them as time has gone on. A lot have things have happened over the last ten years in this country where people feel betrayed, like Yewtree, the recession, Brexit etc, and that coupled with the rise of social media has probably made us a bit less of a trusting society.
