I’ll bet his scouting ability stretches beyond Ramsbottom.

Met him on a flight coming back from Spain at the start of May, came and and sat with me and my daughter and had a chat and watched my bags at the airport while I took her the toilet. Really nice bloke, hope he’s a success at Marine.

I thought he was retired from football management. Couldn't stay away could he! Good luck to him, I think he'll do a job there.

Hope he does well. It would be good to see him stay somewhere for a couple of years again - see if he can work the old magic again!

I’ll bet his scouting ability stretches beyond Ramsbottom. 1st season he signed a load from colwyn bay, but carry on. Total bullshit. 35 players brought in, from 24 different clubs, and only 4 from Colwyn Bay, so you carry on! P.S. 7 further loans or trials in and only 1 of those from Colwyn Bay.

Trafford Burnley Wigan AFC Fylde Forest Green Ashton United Salford Altrincham Nuneaton Colne Fleetwood Chorley
oh and one from Ramsbottom..

Jon Pritchard Dominic Smalley Scott Burton Steve Howson Grant Shenton Gary Stopforth Guess who they have all previously played for? Why, Ramsbottom of course! How about Anthony Dudley and Danny Livesey from Salford? I won’t go on, but suffice to say there is a strong connection. No wonder you tried to disguise the connection by asking who they signed DIRECTLY from Ramsbottom.

Neil Young = Chester Legend. Good luck to him in his new role. I am sure he will be able to steady the ship at Marine.
Three in a row is a phenomenal achievement and the Conference North title was my favourite season being a Chester fan. You just knew you were going to win every game with that squad.

Your gripe was our scouting of no one other than Ramsbottom.
I've listed the club's we signed the squad from thus rendering your original point null and void.
I can see you can read. It’s unfortunate you can’t understand. I’ve pointed out at least six playerswith connections back to Ramsbottom, hence my original comment implicating a strong connection to them. As for your foul language - shows the limited vocabulary you have.

Always the same tone of attack the club/manager/board with you. You're boring mate, you go off on the attack at them yet never offer any help yourself despite trying to act like an intellectual on here by speaking down to other posters.

So this season we've signed 6 with Ramsbottom connections and Neil Young signed 5 from Colwyn Bay in his first season. I make that 1 player more by the current managers, not the loads that you were mentioning!
As Neil Young signed about double the number of players our current managers have then % wise that is roughly double.

Foul mouthed big man behind the keyboard. Why embarrass yourself? Mobile phone actually. I ask myself that about you on a near daily basis tbh. Mobile phones have keyboards.

Can’t believe people are rowing over this, they clearly have played a bit of “getting the band back together” but they’re players with a history of success at this level.
It’s too soon to make a real argument about whether they’ve been successful or not so whatever side you’re on it’s pure opinion. If RCB doesn’t like it that’s up to him. For most of us we wanted more local recruitment akin to what NY did.

I hope Neil has done some due diligence on Marine (who I believe are a well run club) as both Stockport and Altrincham were both basket cases when he accepted their offers of a manager's job. No way should he have joined them. Ask any Halifax fan what they thought of him when he was caretaker and you'll only get glowing endorsements.

For most of us we wanted more local recruitment akin to what NY did. I fully agree that I wanted/expected more local recruitment, perhaps expecting a more diverse scouting network, that’s all. I’m not rowing, merely stating a low key opinion based on what has been published so far in respect of player recruitment. Clearly, there are some who choose to interpret any such general comment in the extreme and appoint themselves as defenders, much as they have done previously in jumping to defend McCarthy, Maguire, and Bignot recently. I have previously stated that I will make my first judgement after the opening ten games, and this remains the case.

Good luck Neil. A great bloke who achieved a miracle. Will pop down and take a Marine game in. Great little club.

For what it's worth, out of NY's first 13 signings for Chester 7 had previously played for him - either under contract or while on loan at the Bay. No real surprise there, a managers default stance (particularly in non league) often seems to be go with what worked in the past.

Bern & Johnno have been successful everywhere they’ve managed, and have put faith in many of the players who helped them achieve that success. It’s hardly the same as McCarthy insisting there’s a place for Liam Davies at Southport.
