Need to take this opportunity to play the youth and some fringe players if we have any! The money’s nice but not worth risking putting more players out injured.

Both arguments have merit. For me we should be starting some of the young lads who are on the fringes of the first team; Marsh-Hughes, Noble, Jordan, Miller (if he’s still with us), Brown are all capable of doing a job & have all been in & around the first team & would give some of the first team players who have played a ton of games back to back a break.

He looked quite good in his first couple of games, been less effective recently.

In my opinion it’s important that we treat this competition seriously to build momentum and more income, as our FA Cup run turned out to be disappointing. By all means play one or two younger players, but the financial incentives at stake need to be played to our own advantage - especially with our club’s model. This draw will be regionalised, whilst we will now have to enter the FA Trophy at the 3rd Qualifying Round stage which is earlier than we’ve had to previously, but it will still start us off with a bit more cash.
I’d obviously prefer us to have an easier draw at home to start us off with the likes of Halesowen Town and Marske United still in this competition. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us drawn away at South Shields, or even worse Blyth Spartans. Therefore, my prediction is an away tie at the former.

The money’s nice but not worth risking putting more players out injured. we have another competition for the youth players its called the Cheshire cup That’s classes as a youth competition now and doesn’t take up a Saturday, whereas FA Trophy does require a Saturday so there is potential for a 2 week rest for some players if we got an easy draw.

This is just my opinion and not talking on behalf of the rest of the board, but I've always believed we should put everything into this competition.
One of my ambitions in my lifetime is to see a Chester side run out at Wembley. With the exception of EFL play off finals this is the only realistic chance of seeing that happen, and when you consider the likes of Nantwich were actually in the semi finals not so long ago, there is always a chance for us.
So I would personally want us to treat this seriously. Especially given the failure in the FA Cup.

Need an early run in it if only to fill the possible blank Saturdays in and keep the momentum going

Still upsets me when I think we scored 4 goals in the 1975 semi-final matches and did not get to Wembley.

To put it bluntly, we need the money from a decent run after the FA Cup adventure failed to materialise.
Ideally, a "straightforward" home draw, play a strong(ish) team, wrap it up by HT, then relax and/or substitutions to rest key players!

Anyone away please for obvious reasons !! Selfish git. While the games are on a free Saturday, it's not too bad. Once you progress and move League matches to a midweek, they could start to actually cost us money, as the crowds would be lower. I'd love to us at Wembley, and this is the only realistic chance, but our squad is only just big enough for the league campaign. Hopefully we'll get a crap team languishing at the bottom of the North West Counties (away just for Baz), and we can rest a few legs.

I just hope that the managers can state their intent regarding this competition. We must have one of the worst records of any team in this tournament.

Wow! One defeat and now we are fearing Southport away! Have you seen where they are in the league and who’s helping out the manager! We will smash these even if we stick 5 of the youth out.

An easy train journey, a couple of pints in Southport, a good chippy by the ground, beatable opponents and a stop in Liverpool on the way home for another pint or two.
Really don't get some of you, one defeat and everything is doom.

I for one am really happy with this draw as Southport is a great day out, whilst we have a chance to put one over McCarthy earlier than expected. Yes, it is a potential banana skin given our last cup tie at Haig Avenue, but there could’ve been far worse outcomes for us. We certainly have a good chance of progressing if we are on our game. Can’t wait for it. COYB 🔵⚪️🏆!
