Sounds a great win. What position are we now? Up to 3rd, four points behind BPA at the top. Great result! I’m probably wrong but it feels like we always win on the Saturday before Christmas.

Apart from that then. Pretty much a given that we lost this time last season!

Got to be happy with that I think. Last shopping weekend, raging hangover day etc. Shows we can get the crowds back but it will be a gradual process. About how many have Telford brought? They sound noisy going by the commentary. 200+

Another good performance, had to work hard for it but it was definitely a fair result. It really is enjoyable watching this team especially after the dross of the last couple of years, everyone working for each other and putting a shift in.
We did well to turn it around, their goal was completely against the run of play and that would have knocked the stuffing out of some teams but we regrouped well and got the win. Delighted for Dudley to get a goal, he's really deserved that. He's been playing really well but sort of gone under the radar with Asante's explosive start here. His lovely flick on for Asante's goal a good example of that. Both were very tidy finishes as well, you just knew Asante would finish after he was put through! We saw the game out pretty comfortably apart from their disallowed goal, I have to admit that it didn't look a foul from where I was and we may have got away with one there, but it would have been very harsh on us not to have got the 3 points. Everyone played well, they certainly deserve their win bonuses!
Good to see the attendance back over 2000, wasn't expecting that much just before Christmas. The last couple of years have seriously damaged the club and it's going to take a while to get some of the fans back, but attendances are creeping up and long may it continue. Anyone still not going, get yourself down the Deva if you can, you won't regret it!

Another enjoyable home game and a deserved win, although Telford more than played their part in the game. We were unfortunate to go a goal down but superbly came back. Asante and Dudley were superb. Hard to choose a man of the match because it was a good team performance but I'll go for my usual and pick Gary Stopforth. Has to be the fittest part time player in the country. A word on the ref, he badly lost his way which led to several players on both sides hitting the deck as soon as anybody came near them. Easiest decision he'll ever get with the red card though..

I thought Grand was deservedly MOM. Won his personal battle with their very physical no. 10, particularly in the first half and put in a flawless defensive play. Wasn't sure about him but he won me over today.

Yet another fantastic display which has started Christmas off with a bang. We were in disarray almost 12 months ago as we succumbed to a 4-0 trouncing at Halifax but now it’s just incredibly refreshing to be going to Chester FC matches with excitement again. Just 12 months on though we have come a long way as we are winning and scoring for fun. Stuart Murphy will have to cough up nice and early as our players will now receive a deserved £2,500 for this success. Mr Murphy himself was in attendance this afternoon which is great as he will now know the connection between us all both on the pitch and in the stands. This victory now takes us up to 3rd ahead of a busy schedule with clashes against Hereford and Southport to come - 3 games we can definitely win to continue our great run.
Our first half performance was very encouraging as we got a foothold on the game nice and early. Akwasi Asante found the net on the 10th minute mark which sadly got disallowed, although watching back it was the wrong call. In all honesty though he could’ve scored 4 today as he obviously later went on to score for us, but before that he had an effort saved, scored an offside one and was through on goal at another stage. Again, he was fantastic this afternoon so hopefully we will seal a deal soon. We played some good stuff in that half, but sadly it was Telford who went 1-0 up as Morgan-Smith scored a free header at the far post on the back of some poor defending. However, just 5 minutes later we managed to get back onto level terms as Asante Claus scored a one-on-one to ease the burden. As the half progressed we shown a lot of encouraging signs which foreshadowed the end result. Both Cain Noble and Asante had decent attempts but we had to settle for just the goal to head into the break level.
The second half was even better as our brilliant support spurred us on to record yet another win. On the 51st minute mark a different player scored for us which was a bit of a surprise (tongue in cheek) as Anthony Dudley followed up his initial effort to fire us ahead. We continued to thrive off that, but just minutes later Akwasi Asante was forced to go off which was a sorry sight. Hopefully it’s just a slight knock as this lad has been a revelation for us so far and it may cost us if he is to be sidelined for a little while. Telford had the ball in the net but thankfully it was correctly ruled out due to a foul on Grant Shenton. The match got even better for us as Telford’s captain, Shane Sutton, was sent off following an awful challenge to give us an even better advantage of seeing the game out. Eventually we saw the game out to record another victory as our performance was more than worthy of all 3 points. Bradley Johnson was effective when he came on as he was very dynamic going forward and could turn into a great player for us as he definitely carries pace with him. Simon Grand and Steve Howson both had assured games at the back, and so did Matty Thomson who is continuing to evolve into his new role with success. Jon Moran was rather shaky this afternoon, but I thought in midfield Craig Mahon was skilful as ever, Gary Stopforth was energetic as ever and Cain Noble did well following a last-minute change. Anthony Dudley was immense up top again as he is turning into a great partner to Asante, and fully deserved his winning goal today.
Again it’s just great to be heading home happy which seems to be a routine for us now. Despite Bradford (Park Avenue) defeating Hereford, Chorley slipped up at home to Blyth which is an excellent result for us, especially as we have moved up to 3rd now. The atmosphere was briliiant once again as we managed to attract over 2,000 for this game, and with us winning hopefully even more will back us against Southport. At long last our attendances are on the up as more and more people are taking notice of us as something is definitely building at our club. Onto Southport now which won’t be easy, but I’m sure that we will approach this match a lot more seriously than our FA Trophy fixture. Come on blue army, let’s all turn up in our numbers again to keep this fabulous run going. Wishing you all a Merry Blue Christmas. See you Wednesday!

What a difference a year makes? This time last year ,we had to witness the utter dross signed by McCarthy, go down to a humiliating defeat, at Halifax. Abject, lacking passion and zero heart for the fight. Fortuately, this team is everything, that those gang of wasters were not. The turnaround in fortunes is staggering and down to a cracking management team. Last year, we were staring certain relegation, in the face. Now if we can sign Asente and he stays fit, we will have a good crack at the title. Effort, work rate and a determinatiion to win, saw us through today. Cracking performances from Grand, Howson, Stopford, Mahon, Dudley and Asente. Also, our own academy lads were excellent. With young Matty Thompson pushing for MOM . For once, we can look forward to the New Year, in the hope that exciting times lay ahead. Finally, great to see the amazing Stuart Murphy in attendence, who can see what he is helping to create.

A very hard fought game in the end but we could / should have been 3 goals up in the first half, before they scored from there first effort on target. Disappointed not to see a cameo from Green for the last 5 minutes instead of Smalley.

Thought Dawson was superb today. He was as well at Stockport and is fitting in nicely. What’s also pleasing is we now have a bench of players who can make a difference when they come on rather than youth/fringe players. Speaking of youth players - Thommo at right back is playing out of his skin and cain is really looking the part. Feels like we have critical mass now and just need to keep on keeping on and we’ll be in the promotion mix ... but I have a sneaking suspicion we’ll lose to Alty in the promotion play offs - hope I’m wrong. 🤞

Cowan seems like a bit of a tit. How on earth could he be upset about the red card?! It’s the clearest decision the ref will get alll season. The ref was pretty poor for both teams, as often is the case at this level. Was certainly a hard fought win. Telford look a pretty decent side, knocked it about well at times and carry a threat up front. Having said that, they did seem to pass it out of play an alarming amount of times! Was nice to get revenge on them after we made them look like Brazil earlier in the season. Our work ethic won us that game. I don’t think we have masses of quality but we force teams to panic with our press and work rate, and finally in Asante we have someone who can provide a real cutting edge when we do work it into good areas. It was a real team performance, and the MOTM could have been any of the defenders really who were kept on their toes by some lively forwards. A massive result when you consider we had two academy products playing the 90 minutes and we were missing one of our most influential players in Roberts. Disappointingly yet another opposition player gave it the big un in front of the Harry Mac after scoring. I really can’t stand it, and the FA wonder why there is an increase in bottles and coins being thrown on the pitch. If that plonker Udoh had been struck by a bottle today it would have been entirely his own doing. Take your shirt off and you get booked, but inciting opposition fans holds no punishment. Still, guess it made it a bit sweeter sticking one over them at the end.

Telford are a decent side but it really did seem like their cup final today. Maybe I am being harsh, but they were so keen to make enemies of themselves - the goal celebration in front of the Harry Mac being a good example. They just seemed like a bottle of pop, desperate to be outraged by everything.
We have that lovely habit of winning games whilst not at our best. To go a goal down today and wrestle it back is seriously impressive, because Telford are no mugs. To do so with two of our own YTS players shining through is even more impressive. I love Cain Noble's energy, but how good does Thomson look right now? As Jonno said in his post-match, he looks like he's played 400 games at this level.
Running out of superlatives for Asante. The lad needs signing, he's a machine. Defenders just cannot cope - if we can get him over the line, he is money in the bank. There's no way on earth his natural level is the Conf North, if Stuart Murphy was in the crowd today then I wouldn't be surprised if we see some movement on it. Hope the injury was just precaution, but in a way it might work in our favour. I think you could see the standing ovation he got as he hobbled around the pitch meant something to him.
A mention for Dudley today, who was different class. Not massively pacy, but his link-up is outstanding and his movement causes problems. I think he'll probably find his way towards 18-20 goals for the season which will be a great result.
Good crowd today, slowly but surely we're getting there. You can't help but admire everything the managers have put in place, to turn it around in such a short space of time is incredible. Up the Seals!

Good on Dawson getting frustrated in coming off that's no doubt the Gaffer's and we want to see players wanting to play for 90 mins working their socks off instead of strolling around doing nothing

If he had issues with his short stint with us, then it certainly wasn't with the fans. Looked a bit of a plonker tbh

I thought Dawson had a very good game as he did at Stockport. Although he hasn't got the worldie finishes of Mooney he brings so much more to the game. Covering , tackling and playing safe rather than dribbling and losing it in our half. His chest pass on the first half was class, he and Dudley are intelligent players.

The lads never stopped running today and gave us the complete effort we've been fortunate enough to come to expect. Fully deserved the win. Telford are a good side who will finish high up the table but we're better and that hopefully tells us something.
The ref had a bit of an odd afternoon I thought. He missed some blatant pushes but then gave silly little 50/50 challenges as fouls. He got the sending off right though, anyone who says otherwise doesn't know thw rules.
