Tomorrow evening we make the short trip across Cheshire to take on Winsford United away in the Cheshire Senior Cup 1st Round. We picked up a fantastic result at FC United on Saturday, although I expect us to field a much weaker XI tomorrow ahead of two important home games. This match is a good opportunity for some of our fringe and younger players to impress, as well as Scott Burton who could play a part after a long lay-off.
The Cheshire Cup isn’t high on our list of priorities, although I wouldn’t mind if we went all the way as this is the only cup competition we are left in and a decent run does build momentum. In the Preliminary Round we scraped past Witton Albion at home so we will be hoping to make it a bit more straight forward tomorrow against a Winsford side who we managed to batter 10-1 back in 2015.
Winsford United ply their trade in the North West Counties League and haven’t had the greatest of seasons so far. As it stands they are only 2 places above the relegation zone so will be fighting for their lives down there. By the looks of their ground though it doesn’t look a bad set-up at Winsford and I’m sure they’ll be up for this game.
Ahead of our more important league fixture against Guiseley on Saturday I expect us to make quite a few changes as I’m sure a few of our few regular starters will be rested. This will be a new ground for me (and probably everyone else making the trip) so hopefully we will be able to progress to the next round. COME ON YOU BLUES!
Score: Winsford United 0-4 Chester FC (Brown X2, Murray, Moran) Attendance: 102 (58 Chester FC)
My predicted lineup: King Jackson Livesey Moran Waters Mooney Noble Roberts Marsh-Hughes Brown Murray
COYB!

Att 160 with 75 Chester

Would have thought that Green would feature to continue to get to full match fitness with his suspension looming. In any case I think 3 - 0 to the Blues

As a kid I used to love Cheshire Senior Cup final day and dreamt of playing in one myself one day. Just not the same now that the big clubs play weakened teams. Things need to change.

Realistic chance of a trophy. Go for it. Thanks for your encouragement but I think that you should really be more concerned with wasting your cup money on a couple of donkeys and your usual post Christmas implosion than come on here patronising us thank you

Gutted for Marsh-Hughes not getting a proper start. Another injury to deal with but only sounds like a groin strain. We’re not having any luck this season.

I am wondering if it's a one man bad tonight with regards to the media team. Albert Davies Tweeted that he was on the camera for the first time tonight and it has to be said, usually the lads are pretty good with updates, regardless of whether the game is a bit dull. Dave Powell has been updating pretty consistently on the Chronicle page.
