The whole play off thing is a farce. Already seeing players in the football league who say they won't take part in matches, because they don't want to get injured and risk moves away that have been agreed already. Others who were on loan saying they won't play either. For argument's sake let's say one of our out of contract players has his eye on a move to a national league or L2 club. Maybe a deal has already been agreed. Why would he risk it by getting involved in a play off game for us, on a hard pitch in an empty stadium. It’s a point I was thinking about too. Asante as an example is being linked with Gloucester and Solihull who are apparently throwing huge money around. If he can go and double his money now he’s out of contract here, why would he risk playing in the playoffs? I didn't name him, but seeing as you have....exactly. Doubt we will see him in a Chester shirt again. He got a decent number of games in, given all the question marks over his fitness, but I get the feeling that the support hasn't really taken to him. Top golascorer in the league and he didn't get our player of the season. He would be crazy to go to Gloucester and I've never been a lover of Solihull but I guess money will talk. He's too good for our league. Changing the subject, Sarcevic is being linked with move from Plymouth to Fleetwood.

So, as predicted, we now have the ludicrous situation of potentially going in to playoffs without the league's leading scorer. It's a total joke that the authorities still haven't made a decision and we are now well into June. Theoretically, we could be forced to play and have to cobble together a team for one game, presumably at great cost to the club because most of the players are out of contract.

I would hope, in the event of football authorities ever making a decision on playoffs, that only players registered with clubs before the lockdown would be eligible to compete in playoffs. In the event that such registered players have moved on then they would have to be available for selection by the clubs they were registered with at the commencement of lockdown.

I think you are right that they will say only players registered pre lockdown will be allowed to play, otherwise clubs could assemble an expensive team to buy promotion. However, as we are seeing at clubs such as Charlton, players who know they will be leaving or were on loan are already refusing to play. Do you seriously think Asante gives a shit now whether Chester get promoted, and that he will agree to appear in playoffs? Call me a cynic but I have a hunch he would be injured if that rule was enforced. 😎

Contract has since ended. Can't see how he could be in breach of a contract that he hasn't entered in to... Read my statement again, hopefully to see that I was merely being reflective on what would be an honourable outcome. Probably fantasy, I know, but whilst contracts may have dates, they would also have the intent to be “until the end of the season”. As such, with the season suspended, it would be nice to see a legal justification that contracts could be similarly suspended with precedence given to “end of season” over dates. Two interesting articles: talksport.com/football/688053/fifa-extend-player-contracts-end-of-season-coronavirus/www.sportinglife.com/football/news/football-legal-questions-answered/178960

Shouldn't there actually be a Transfer Rumour Mill 20/21 thread, rather than extending this one?
Mods maybe you could freeze this one and start another?

George Green signs for Ossett United. We could’ve turned Iwan Murray into the next paycheck but the LADS wasted time on that waster.

James Hurst displaying his man management skills - Mr Allan added: “He said he is from the Queen’s country and all Scottish are slaves to him.” Hurst repeatedly threatened to spit on the officers and continued to hurl abuse. He said: “You are not the law, you are civilians in uniform, Queen’s country rules, you live in Scottish slums, I am superior.” Keith Tuck, defending, told the court Hurst, who now plays for non-league Hednesford Town, has aspirations of becoming a player/manager on his release. www.clydebankpost.co.uk/news/18503226.footballer-james-hurst-told-cops-covid-19-coughed-face-officers/

Kingsley James joins Hyde United. How the mighty has fallen. He was only ever mighty in one place, his own mind! Ask yourself what did he really do for us, with the exception of that glorious ball from left midfield that landed perfectly for Ben Heneghan to drill it into the back of the goats net 🤣

He was decent for a few months, but that was it. Let Richard Brodie wind him up in to a red card and then never the same. I'll never forget on another forum when James got called up to England C a Woking fan randomly went on a rant about him calling him the biggest myth in non-league football!

I have a theory that Kingsley has an identical twin brother, who is an awful footballer and can't pass a ball five yards. During that abysmal second spell we were actually paying a wage to the twin. Then we had to pay to get rid of the guy when someone at the club realised what was going on.
