Jonno has quashed any rumours of signing's coming in

Every rumour so far is nonsense. Why are you bothering to share them on here? We are not entering talks with anyone until the playoffs are finished. “But while Johnson and Morley have a list of players that they are keeping tabs on it is understood no approaches have been made for any player as they are still unable to make their retained list for next season known.” This, under an hour ago in Cheshire Live. www.cheshire-live.co.uk/sport/football/anthony-johnson-quashes-connor-dimaio-18522367

I heard a rumour that Astles could be returning. I also noticed Jason Oswell has been released from Wrexham. After turning us down to Morecambe I hoping we could get to him but Telford have managed to get him this time with a 2 year contract. I would guess given the current circumstances any signings we can make will only be 1 year deals. Telford seem to making some good signings minus Russ. I suppose thats the advantage knowing what league you'll be in early.

I note that we can only use, in the playoffs, players who were registered with us at a certain date in March. Does anyone know the legal status in regard to players who have subsequently left at the end of their contract? In our case, could we have a right to call on Asante?

Even if it was allowed, can’t see Gloucester agreeing to it.

Could you imagine if he got injured? in fairnes i can see gloucester moved back into the south if its only chorley and fylde coming down as rumoured

The rule is designed to stop you adding to your squad to strengthen it unfairly.

The rule is designed to stop you adding to your squad to strengthen it unfairly. Outside of a pandemic the rule is that playoffs happen straight after the final league game, within the contact time of that seasons squad. You could say that the pandemic has served to deplete our squad, and losing our leading goalscorer has weakened us significantly. That’s not part of the normal ‘design brief’.

For me this should have never been allowed happened and it has put us at a disadvantage, no deals or transfers should have been allowed until a decision was made on the play offs. Even if we was allowed to play Asante you have to question how committed he would be knowing he has a contract with a new club and would he risk injurie or would he be told to take things easy by his new club ? I find the whole thing shocking but I guess we have to live by the rules of the tin pot league we are in

In truth they have snuck in and snatched him from under our nose knowing the gaffers and the club were in no situation to offer him a contract until they knew how the season would end.

If you want someone bad enough you sign them soon as you possibly can which is what they did i can't really blame them we should've offered him a contract our loss really

Reece Hall Johnson released by Northampton, I’m sure he’ll get signed up to a League 2 or Conference side for next season, A good right back what I remember.

Personally, I am not losing any sleep about losing Asente. A decent enough player when he feels like it or is fit, but if he doesnt feel like it or is nursing an injury, then you may as well play with 10 men If I am going to pay a player top money, I would expect him to play week in, week out, not spend a third of his time sitting, in the stand.

Can't get angry with the club or Asante about the whole thing myself.
For the club, too much is up in the air to justify offering him a contract, not least the small matter of Murphy not having coughed up what he pledged.
For Asante, he needs to work. We all want job security right now and if Gloucester could offer him that, you can't blame him for taking it. You can't argue with his goals to games ratio for us, which must be up there with the best we've ever had.
A shame, but nobody's fault.

I had the privilege of working with Harry at Blackpool for a short while, and Mellon was one of my favourite members of the playing staff.....for a Chester fan!

Chorley have now signed 8 new players for next season after releasing most of their squad. Most of the new signings are NLN players and below with a couple of young players from Crewe and Stoke.

John Rooney left Barrow and signed for Stockport He's definitely not cut out for league football but he's hit the jackpot there with a 3 year contract. Stockport must be serious contenders next season, they are throwing big money at it.

Rooney is a decent playmaker and probably could play, in the football league, but to get the best out of him, you need to play a 5 man midfield, with him as the number 10. Any other system and he is likely to struggle?

It was the problem for us when he and Shaw we partnered together in the middle I think, both were good players but not good for each other. Needed a ball winner alongside to be seen to best effect.

I know. Technically, Rooney is a really good player. He has good vision and an eye for goal.
