What do people make of this lot?
I'm torn between thinking they're just inconveniencing normal people trying to go about their lives, and suspecting that time will show what they're doing to be a very necessary act.

I don't disagree with their cause but their methods are totally unacceptable. If they want to be taken more seriously they're going the wrong way about it, in my view.

What would be the right way to go about it, in your view ?

Haha, see you what did there.
Come on mate, there's loads of ways you can promote causes.
Can I take it from your reply you support their highly disruptive protests?

Judging by Mark Carney’s intervention and the front page of today’s Mirror, they’ve done their job in highlighting the issues they wanted to highlight. Fair play.

Demonstrating about cars clogging up the cities, by clogging up the cities is hardly productive.

Its not like these people are just tree-hugging students either. An experienced lawyer who helped broker the Paris Climate Agreement was one of them.

Not totally sure that disrupting people's commutes to work, meetings, hospital appointments etc is 'fair play' myself. It risks coming across as shameless self promotion.

You might not agree with it, but to be honest, you don't have to. What they're doing is necessary in my opinion. Humanity needs to change it's ways regards to releasing of greenhouse gases, burning of fossil fuels and the dumping of plastics in the Ocean (including the use of micro-bead plastics in some cosmetics).
Good luck to them.

I thought climate change was a myth and that these things are cyclical. You thought wrongly. Do some reading up on it. Here’s a good starting point. Pretty much every climate change denial argument refuted with sources - grist.org/series/skeptics/

I think you missed my point, they clogged up the cities with cars being unable to move, thus creating a worse situation for the amount of fumes not being able to go anywhere. They then decided to have a go at the tubes, which again is demonstrating a complete disregard for people that have decided to leave the car out of the city.

The three who glued themselves to a DLR train at Canary Wharf have had their case referred to Blackfriars Crown Court and have been denied bail.
We have a system where those responsible for Grenfell walk free while those fighting for our future lose their liberty.

Incredible to see people on here echoing the likes of Julia Hatley-Spewer and moaning about traffic jams in London. Boo-hoo.
Newsflash, the world's on fire, ice caps are melting and whole species are being destroyed. These are the sort of people who will be sat in their panic rooms crying into their avocado salads whilst we're hurtling towards oblivion wondering how it could possibly affect people like them.

I'll try and refrain from civil disobedience and causing trouble for the already over stretched police while I do. I've got better things to do after all.

Yes, you have sussed me out, I do have huge sympathy for the cause, so much so I joined the organization, along with the other 3000 people per day they claim are joining I can see that causing disruption to joe public trying to go about their everyday lives may not be the best tactic, however I feel the time has come that something needs to be done about the way we are destroying the planet I have just come home from work along the A483, the roadside verges are an absolute shit tip, full of all manner of industrial plastic and detritus, this cant be right Common sense suggests that all those hot gasses emminating from the exhausts of internal combustion engines plus jet engines must be having some effect on the environment What about extinction, well look at the advert for WWF and elephant is killed every 26 minutes for what ? pure human greed. Rhinos are suffering the same fate Try googling Arabian Oryx, Shot into extinction in the wild just for fun by American oil workers [since returned by conservationists] No such luck for the Passenger Pigeon though, now extinct Scimiter Horned oryx ? how are they doing ? Google it Asiatic Lion ? Sorry but the time for action is now upon us before it is too late

Burning of coal should be internationally banned immediately. Purely new diesel and petrol engine cars should be banned asap to be replaced by highly efficient hybrid engine vehicles or 100% electric.
Energy needs should be provided by a mix of renewable energy/nuclear (for now) and a joint cross nation effort towards an operational nuclear fusion power plant should be the aim (if you're not aware of nuclear fusion I suggest you read up on it)

Robin Boardman’s actions on Sky News when harangued by that odious toad Boulton were also admirable.

Would’ve thought it’s better to be encouraging people to use the Tube rather than crawl around Central London in an old banger.

Sorry but the time for action is now upon us before it is too late I know I'm in the minority on here but the impact of these protests on normal people is beyond justification. It's shameless self indulgence. They pretend to be winning the moral argument but they're losing it. Only a total fool or the completely delusional would think that intensification of these protests will increase public support. Quite the opposite. They're undermining their own cause, it's futile pretending otherwise.
