Thanks all, appreciate the support. Please keep those submissions coming - we are getting there! There is one strange objection, which can be seen on the page with all of the plans. Something about being able to park their motor home, two cars and their quality of life. I think though they might be slightly confused by a) the purpose of the project and b) the location of the car park entrance. They mention you by name in their letter Jim, so might be worth corresponding to put their mind at ease. For the benefit of clarity, I have added an attachment of the letter. Attachments:

I’ve been trying to save the screenshot of that lengthy objection letter onto here but had some technical difficulty. As you say, it’s a strange letter - keeps referring to the plans as “charity” in an arsey way using inverted commas and basically thinking it’s just the football clubs training ground and that’s all it is.

Yeah I read that too. They seem to be under the assumption that the football club are building a training ground and are trying to mislead the public through a charity. Well, it’s nothing to do with the football club, it’s being done by a registered charity for the benefit of his/her community. 🤦🏻♂️

When I lived near there many years ago the field was used by a few local teams and there was a resident groundsman/caretaker who lived in a house just inside the entrance gates, I presume this is the house.

Yes, I presume it’s the old caretaker’s house and the car park behind it.
The planning application for the 3G actually relates to the field behind the police station and there is spectate access and parking for 100 cars being created rather than the KGV field. We do want to improve the grass pitches (desperately needed) and the pavilion (which is derelict) but we’re not guiding anything new on that site. Usage will increase but only to the level the playing fields have historically been used for - the only reason it has decreased in recent years is because the pitches and changing rooms are in such poor condition.
I can understand they have some concerns and hopefully we can find some common ground.

Sounds like your second paragraph there is the perfect answer to the guys concerns if this was raised at council level.

The deadline for submission of comments regarding the planning application is tomorrow (13th November). Thanks to everyone who has supported the application so far. It is greatly appreciated and helps demonstrate to the council that the sports hub is needed and wanted.

I’ve had a response from the Principal Planning Officer who has acknowledged my email of support. Only thing is I sent it from my works email address as it was done at the end of the day at work and they are seeking clarification that I’m speaking in an official capacity on behalf of a workplace which is located very close to the proposed development and employs thousands of people...

I am sure that the question has been covered, but will Chester football Club have first call on bookings. Say for instance , Can they decide that a block booking can be made for Tuesday and Thursday evening for first training? Monday and Wednesday Junior and Girls Matches etc. It will be difficult to be to be fair to all stake holders. When I played it was always first come first served, with bookings no more than a week in advance

When I played it was always first come first served, with bookings no more than a week in advance Peak time use (weekday evenings and weekends) is focused on community usage with a number of partner clubs and leagues taking priority. Chester FC is one of these so the junior teams, women’s teams and community sessions will be using the pitch. This is a prerequisite of the funding we have secured for the scheme and there are a number of other clubs who will benefit including Upton JFC and Saughall Colts. As the first team are classified as elite, they won’t have use during the evenings but the pitches will be available for them during the daytime should they wish to use it.

Fingers crossed all goes through. Do you have any timescales yet as to when the project is due to start/finish?

If all goes well, we would hope to start in March/April and the build time is estimated at 19 weeks.

I was copied into an amendment to the planning application but it isn’t clear exactly what the amendment was.
I notice the planning only refers to one section (to the right/behind the custody centre) rather than the full grass area which stretches further across to the left/behind the custody centre?

They added an u11 pitch at the top of the plot. I believe phase 2 is the complete refurbishment of the (very poor) grass pitches on the KGV fields and the pavillion which is in a state of disrepair. I think the drainage needs replacing on the grass pitches, and they run off at all angles so would want flattening out.

Correct. The planning application covers the new 3G pitch and clubhouse on the field behind the police station. The grass pitches will also be improved but we don't require planning consent for this phase as there's no material changes (the money for this is coming from the loss of Clifton Drive where 142 homes are being built).

Fingers crossed all goes through. Do you have any timescales yet as to when the project is due to start/finish? Everything crossed for this today. It won't make nearly the same amount of noise, but this is so much more important for our club and local community than what is happening over the border.

Yes, long term project with proper health and quality of life benefits for the Chester community. Wrexham voted tory, and have given their football club to Netflix. Night and day.

It’s lower down the items list on the agenda - they’re currently discussing the demolition of three houses and erection of a care home in Hartford, Northwich.
We are next on the agenda.
