We are back on home turf tomorrow as we will host Farsley Celtic at home where we look to record our first win of the season. On Tuesday night we came from behind to secure a deserved draw against Altrincham, although we will be wanting to keep the ball out of our own net for once. We shown a lot of encouraging signs in the second half as our energetic drives forward reaped its rewards in the end.
I expect this clash to be another tough one as Farsley have been the surprise package so far. They have emerged from clashes against Darlington and York City without a defeat, so we mustn’t underestimate them. In a selfish kind of way though these are the sides we have to be taking points from, as 5 points from our first 3 won’t be a bad start at all.
Farsley Celtic will be making the venture from Yorkshire in what will be their first season in the National League North as a reformed club. The old Farsley FC got wound up on March 10th 2010, which was interestingly the same date Chester City went out of business. They reformed during the Summer of that year under the name of Farsley AFC, and started off in the Northern Counties East League. In the space of a few years Farsley won 3 promotions which has got them to the National League North, whilst in 2015 they changed their name to Farsley Celtic. There will be two former Chester players making a return to the Deva tomorrow. Lewis Turner and Nathan Turner, the Turner twins, now play for Farsley so hopefully they will receive a healthy reception. Defender Lewis was here from 2012-2014 and is most notable for scoring in our 1-0 win against Boston United, which won us the Conference North title. Midfielder Nathan was also here from 2012-2014, and was a regular starter for us.
I predict Farsley to make things tough for us, but we will just have to remain patient. This will probably be the type of game where we will be in control of most of the possession, but Farsley will be waiting to pounce on any mistakes. It is important that the likes of Danny Elliott and Anthony Dudley bring their shooting boots with them as we can’t afford to miss loads of chances. Up The Seals!
Score: Chester FC (Dudley, Jackson, Waring) 3-1 Farsley Celtic
Attendance: 1,872 (80 Farsley Celtic)
My predicted lineup:
Griffiths
K.Roberts Livesey Grand Taylor
Jackson G.Roberts Stopforth
Dudley
Elliott Waring
COYB!
