We are back on the road tomorrow as we will travel to Northamptonshire to play Kettering Town away where we will look to extend our unbeaten record. On Saturday we put in a lively second half display to overcome Farsley Celtic by 2 goals to 1, although we will be hopeful of recording our first clean sheet tomorrow.
I expect this to be another test for us as Kettering managed to beat Telford the other week. Just like on Saturday though we need to remain patient as we hit the woodwork twice, but eventually we ran out comfortable winners.
Kettering Town got promoted from the BetVictor Southern Premier League Central last campaign and will have that momentum with them. They started off well as they shocked AFC Telford United by winning 2-1, but since then they have lost their last 2 games. Back in 2011 Kettering went into administration in the aftermath of them losing their Rockingham Road stadium (a ground they had played at for over 100 years). It was a very nice ground, which is far better than the current one they play at. Due to that, Kettering moved to Nene Park to groundshare with Rushden And Diamonds but due to the problems at Rushden, Kettering moved to Steel Park (the home of Corby Town) the following year. Once again Kettering had to move, so in 2013 they migrated to Latimer Park (the home of Burton Park Wanderers), and ever since then they have played there. Kettering are looking to move to their own stadium in the foreseeable future.
We have a decent run of games coming up as obviously we have Kettering tomorrow, then face Gloucester City on Saturday where we should be aiming for maximum points. After that we face tough opposition in Kidderminster Harriers, Hereford FC, and Spennymoor Town so it’s vital that we build some momentum first to give us confidence. Come On You Blues!
Score: Kettering Town 1-2 Chester FC (Livesey, Elliott) Attendance: 758 (95 Chester FC)
My predicted lineup: Griffiths K.Roberts Livesey Grand Taylor Jackson G.Roberts Stopforth Dudley Elliott Waring
COYB!

Going to be positive and say a big 3-0 victory with a goal for Dudley, Waring and Roberts.
Meeting a Wimbledon supporting mate to this one so hope we perform! Never been to Kettering - Anyone know if there’s decent parking and what it’s like to walk to?

Win 2-0, Dudley and Asante when he comes on last 20.
103 Chester but won’t be segregated so we’ll never know.

I think we'll win this. Can't go myself, but don't care what the score is. I think we're (at least) 5 games unbeaten away. Let's keep that run going blueboys.

Anyone remember us getting beat 4-0 there in 2001? It was around the time Terry Smith was really going off his trolley, sacking players for standing in the wrong place for corners, getting Gordon Hill involved etc. I remember people saying it was probably our worst result ever at the time. To be fair in the days of only one team going up, there were a lot of meaningless Conference fixtures as the season came to an end.

I certainly do, my brother scored his first goal for England under 16's that night I should of been there but instead I was watching us get battered!

I’m afraid anyone who thinks this will be an easy Chester win may be in for a bit of a surprise. Kettering have some good players like Aaron O’Connor who’s done us over before with FGR. Daniel Nti is also a good forward at this level. A draw wouldn’t be a bad result.

Is Gary Roberts fit for this game? Not sure why he was subbed for Tantastic Not So Fantastic on Saturday. The difference between these two players is like night and day.

No result is a bad result, about how you react. Going to be some bumps in the road. Like that time my mate Big Scott had a fight with this kid. Should have been no problems for Scott but this kid, Sean, was lightning and an unknown. Sean shocked everyone there, as easy as 1,2,3. Scott lost his edge but came back stronger and became really successful, made loads of money. (Scott is a bit of a bum now but that's not important) Anyway... not the end of the world if Chester don't beat Kettering. Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re not in the slightest bit funny.

A draw wouldn't be a bad result but again, like Saturday, I think that to really challenge at the top end of the league we need to be finding a way to beat these.

Thought he played extremely well against Altrincham and was good against Farsley. Even worse we've got to rely on "Electric Beach" who looks so far off the pace it is unreal.

If Gary Roberts not fit, difficult role to replace. Sadly Scott Burton still not up to scratch, although showed up well before the penalty on Saturday. Could Kev Roberts fill in? Alternatively I wold drop Mahon and bring In Matty Waters on left hand side of mid field as he has more defensive capability, get Dudley to play a deeper role and bring in either hard working Matty Hughes or Asante.
