Yes. It could.
As could fielding a full team and getting through one round of the FA Cup. Same £10k raised.
As someone said on the Alty match thread. Someone from the Board should have stressed the importance of a cup run, to the Managers in order for them to strengthen the squad.
I presume there was a conversation and the Board said to them, you pick the team, not us. I believe there should gave been a clear steer given about the need for boosting the income.
I already contribute to Squadbuilder, and have done for a few years. I was looking to increase that monthly amount, but after last night I'm not so sure I want to.

The board is not there to direct team selection or god help us as has been said before there is no one on the board with football experience. If the managers don’t understand our financial position then the club will fail. They will be judged on results over (I hope) the whole season.

I believe they get the club, and our situation. That's why I was surprised, as Bern thinks Alty are the best (football) team in this league. That's why I asked about the team selection last night. I was wondering whether a conversation had taken place, and if so, what was said. I could understand Macca doing it, but not them. Unless there were more problems than we knew about. I hope Bern and Jonno are here next season too, or longer.

I understand your pain Harry Lime as do most Chester fans. I think we were all praying for a good Cup run. However firstly I don’t think it helps to ‘imagine’ conversations between the Board and the managers. I It was massively disappointing but if we keep going in this league then we are going to slowly pick up attendances which will build up finances and with good consistent football will build up more solid support rather than the glory hunters who piggy back on a cup run. But the club must grab the opportunities that a successful season brings and I think we can see this happening. Saying that though we must make a good fist of the FA Trophy this season and break that Wembley duck!

Actually there did used to be conversations between Managers and the Board over priorities before Cup games. Both the Board and Burr and Macca admitted this a few years back at a CFU meeting. Probably Lawrence mentioning money! I do take your point though. I probably over reacted. Bern and Jonno are open and honest with us. That's why I was surprised there was no mention of knocks etc until yesterday. Because of that it looked like we hadn't picked our strongest available side. We only had 4 or 5 first choice players starting. Actually I'm not that fussed about the Trophy. Wouldn't make any money until the QF, and adds a few games. I'd love to see us at Wembley, but knowing us we'd go out to a Canvey Island in the semi.

Did our managers REALLY say that the cup wasn't a priority or are people reading between the lines?

Did our managers REALLY say that the cup wasn't a priority or are people reading between the lines? Moderator Nathan Aulty started it all off, although he’ll probably deny it.

I think the only way we'll ever get back to the EFL is though a cup run to the 3rd round proper.

Getting back on topic, this from OWS:
Football will return to the Deva Stadium on Sunday 20th October when a football match will be staged to raise funds for the Squadbuilder £20k #PushForPromotion initiative.
Bernard Morley’s Step-Father, Gary Bleackley, manages a football team that features a number of players that have turned out for Chester FC and others with Premier League experience such as Paul Linwood, Leon Mike, Danny Webber and Steve Halford. They have agreed to play a match at Deva Stadium on Sunday, 20th October against local league players to raise funds for Chester FC. Bern & Jonno are also expected to don their football boots. Kick Off is 2:30pm. Entry is free although there will be Squadbuilder donation buckets. Gary is an upholsterer by profession and he has made a unique armchair featuring the Chester FC logo (see picture in poster on OWS) to raise funds for the club. The back of the ‘chair will be signed by the First Team. The club wishes to thank Gary for his tremendous support.

Thought I was going to be paying up for the first time this season (£10 for any win when we come from behind) but still a good performance and don't think the highlights do justice to us really.

Paid my Goals Money this morning, Realised that technically Jones, Roberts & Waring aren't classed as Academy Products but as they've come through a version of the Chester Youth at point so I'll be putting in the extra money for them in shortly. £1,140.50 for the month is a great sum and shows that all these seemingly small efforts add up to make a difference.
