The staff at the youth team (all voluntary other than Callum) do an amazing job with recruitment. The facts are that Chester sits in a few big catchment areas; Liverpool, Manchester, Crewe/Stoke and now Shrewsbury (apparently). So it is tough to lure players to the club with larger clubs knocking on the door.

I'm afraid that's not how this works, we don't get first choice of all local lads before they're snapped up by other clubs. Also by the very nature of the two clubs league positions Crewe will have a more extensive scouting network than us. In terms of scouting and infrastructure we had only existed for 6 years when he signed professional terms with Crewe.

Pixie has been at Crewe since he was 11 years old and he joined an academy with a history of bringing youngsters through and onwards to higher league clubs, no brainer for his parents.

He won't be at Crewe for long, I think Derby are looking at him.

Best not mention Ben Woodburn to you then Bluey7 Got his kid brother though haven’t we. We also had Wayne Rooney’s and Tom Davies’s kid brothers and they both worked out good for us.
