Great point that, I see we're doing the "Russ Griffiths cost us a goal every game" chat again, despite him only costing us 4 goals in 15 games. I understand that he has lots of improving to do and is far from the finished article and I would like to see Roberts given a go at some point, but some of the over reaching blame dished on here is simply untrue. A bit of perspective is needed.

I dont understand why each season we select a player to bully on this site. Mistakes happen in games, and it's always easy to blame a keeper. Nobody has mentioned any missed chances or a poor pass to the keeper so let's not get on Griffiths back

playing poor. I mentioned weeks ago that this Keeper will cost us points in a big game, wasn’t wrong. He’s prone to big mistakes, I also said this. He is a liability and absolutely no upgrade on Shenton whatsoever Shenton who today lost 7-0 against FC United. No improvement 👌 lets get a 21 year old in who’s never played at this level and can’t even commit to training I’m sure he won’t make any mistakes!

Good point after a few weeks off. We needed the break as the injuries were piling up but it does mean it takes a half to get up to pace.
I agree with the last few comments, I think Russ is an improvement and is young and I think we really need to get behind him.
The online bullying that happens these days needs cutting out and we need to stay positive if we are going to lead and take the fight to York.
In Bern and Jonno we trust.

A bit of perspective is needed. You’re missing the point though. We’d be top of the league without his mistakes. We’ve conceded 13 goals in total and I’d dare say half are his mistakes. Keepers are hard to get at this level but if someone’s making mistakes he needs competition pushing him at the club, not out on loan. Today he’s cost us two points, no matter how you look at it, it’s not like he’s made a save and not quite got enough behind it to push it around the post etc, it’s straight forward basics he’s getting wrong at times. We could forgive a miscalculated save. Overall a good point away from home but a shame we couldn’t take advantage of York dropping points. Different game if we don’t make that mistake after two minutes and go 2-0 up in the match though. I don’t like bashing individual players, at all. Overall it’s a great result away from home but I can’t help but feel we’re potential champions with more reliability in the net.

Understand what your saying, but one of the points I was attempting making is people keep exaggerating how many mistakes he's made. In no world whatsoever has he been responsible for half the goals we've conceded. If you can demonstrate that he is responsible for 7 goals we've conceded this season, then I will concede to your point.

I don't get this clamour on here to give Theo a chance every time Griffiths makes a mistake. Not sure why we even signed him on, cannot commit to the hybrid model, send him out on loan so not even a back up keeper! Promotion is looking a real possibility let him go and get someone in who will provide competition for Russ. Calls to get a loan keeper in and only got just over £5k from the Squadbuilder initiative so far this season. I would prefer any extra cash to go towards keeping Glennon and Hughes here for the remainder of the season.

I have at no point pushed for Theo Roberts getting a game as I have never seen him play. Last year Shenton rightly got hammered on here and we were all pleased to see him go and were hoping for a more reliable keeper. I don't think we have that in Griffiths (yet). Maybe he'll find some form and prove me wrong. Hope he does.

Stating that I don't think the keeper is that good is hardly online bullying. It's a football forum for airing opinions. I seriously hope the lad comes through and proves some of us wrong.

My view of the goal wasn't great but I'm not sure it was Russ's fault.
Will take a draw, but I'm slightly disappointed we didn't win. Thought we were better than them.

I’ll happily take a point here and a win against York at home. Anything more than that and I’ll be ecstatic. Am just a bit concerned the long lay off may work against us in terms of match sharpness. Listened to it online. Sounds like i was right to be worried in the first half but the cobwebs from a long lay off were well and truly blown away in the second. All in all very happy even tho it would have been fantastic to hold onto 2-1 it was a great result. Today and Sticking 8 past Blyth next week will be good prep for York - it’s my birthday that weekend and I’m hoping for a top of the league present boys. COYB!!

In general this clash was a brilliant advert for the National League North as the second half in particular was very end-to-end. Both sides were attack-minded which made for an entertaining spectacle, and from an overall view I believe that a draw is a fair reflection of the game. It is a shame that we couldn’t keep our lead intact, but at the start of the day I would have been really pleased with a point. King’s Lynn Town haven’t lost a home match for over a year, and we can count ourselves unlucky to not have broken that streak.
Our first half performance was decent, but we got off to the worst possible start as Adam Marriott latched on a Russ Griffiths gift to make it 1-0 to King’s Lynn Town after just two minutes. Griffiths attempted to play the ball out from the back, but his kick found Marriott who easily slotted in. The hosts went close to doubling their advantage, but thankfully a Rory McAuley header from close range went wide. King’s Lynn’s early pressure died down which enabled us to come into the game. Joel Taylor started out our attacks, we kept the possession well, but on the downside we didn’t have that extra nous to go that extra mile. Our first chance of the half went to Brad Jackson who fired over quite convincingly, whilst at the other end Marriott also lashed an effort miles over. We moved the ball around really well, but our only downfall was that we left too much space when King’s Lynn went on the attack which caused us problems. Our only other chance of the period went to Danny Livesey whose header was straight at Alex Street, although really he should have found the net from that type of range. We did show some promising signs in the first half, but that wasn’t enough as we trudged off into the interval a goal down.
The second half was much more entertaining on an overall scale, as both outfits had plenty of possession and chances. One thing I noticed in particular was that the referee was much more in favour of us as he had a terrible first half. We came out of the blocks much quicker, and that rewarded us as Simon Grand turned in a Matty Hughes ball for us to make it 1-1. All of a sudden that goal gave us momentum as we dug in even deeper to go in front. Just seven minutes after Grand found the net, we made it 2-1 as Akwasi Asante stabbed in at the back post following a great delivery from Brad Jackson. Both on the pitch and in the stands this clash turned into a energetic, full-blooded affair as the hosts had a five minute spell where they were constantly in our half, whilst the atmosphere was lively between both sets of supporters. King’s Lynn Town threw everything at us, and unfortunately Adam Marriott scored for them to make it 2-2 by scoring his second of the day. There was pinball in the penalty box, and eventually Marriott found a bit of space to fire past Russ Griffiths. Just a few moments later he went close to finding his hat trick as his effort went wide. That would have been all! The final 10 minutes was less one-sided as we had a few good spells that could have carved out a winner. Deep into added time Danny Elliott couldn’t keep his composure as he blazed over, and that turned out to be our final chance. Neither side couldn’t find the winner so the spoils are shared.
My man of the match for this afternoon goes to George Glendon who was a maestro in midfield once again. He made some brilliant passes to the likes of Brad Jackson out wide that stretched King’s Lynn out, and as a result that enabled us to get more crosses in. Brad Jackson was excellent too as he made some storming runs with the ball which caused the hosts havoc. He also assisted Akwasi’s goal as his inch-perfect ball found the big man to fire home at the back post. Joel Taylor was excellent as usual because just like Jackson, his runs forward supported our attack and pushed us up as a unit. Simon Grand put in a good shift at the back as he won a lot of aerial duels, and did his best to deal with the strong partnership of Adam Marriott and Michael Gash. He also netted our equaliser which certainly made up for his mis-kick in the first half. Anthony Dudley did well today too as he linked up quite well with Asante and Matty Hughes, and he found a lot of space as well.
We will endure another long journey next week as we will make the trip up to the North East to play Blyth Spartans away next Saturday. They have won their last two league games so will be up for a fight, although I watched them in the cup last week against Hednesford Town where they were toothless. To keep up with York City we have to be putting three points on the board which will boost our confidence.

I'll take that, well played Blues Agreed but it would appear that the keeper has cost us another 2 points. Not at all. First goal was the fault of Glendon. Second was a cracker from Marriott.

Listened on seals live, not a great first half, but second half game came to life.it could have gone either way ,but at the end of the day another tough away game out the way and with York drawing a point was an ok result.

Agreed but it would appear that the keeper has cost us another 2 points. Not at all. First goal was the fault of Glendon. Second was a cracker from Marriott. It really wasn’t though. Glendon passed the ball back to the goalie (like happens 10+ times a game) and he, with all the time in the world passed it straight to the striker.

Listened to Seals Live and sounded like we were poor first half and didn’t have much of a sniff. Second half sounded much better and I was hoping that we’d go on to win, but I’d have settled for a draw before the game. The other league results weren’t bad either.
Next weeks game at Blyth is a big one with York and Kings Lynn not playing, it gives us the chance to go level with York or even go top if we win by 3 goals. Blyth have improved in recent weeks, so no doubt it will be a slog and let’s hope we don’t get the same ref we had at Spennymoor. I’m sure that those players involved in the same fixture last season will also have a point to prove too.
I’m already looking forward to the York game, but I just hope that we can go into it level on points, otherwise they would move 6 points clear of us if they beat us and will have a game in hand.

Draw fair result, first goal poor back pass but definitely keepers fault, garbage first half, much better second half, going to be lottery of play offs I'm afraid and we're still going to be in this division next season.

I felt sorry for the Gk. All the time they were passing back to him and putting him under unnecessary pressure. That's ok in the PL where the GK sometimes acts as a sweeper, but not at Level 6.

Listened to Culverhouse on Radio coming back and he was full of praise for Chester saying we were just as good if not better than York. First half wasn't as bad as some on here are making out, it was fairly even apart from an awful error from Griffiths. Second half I thought we were slightly the better the side, moved the ball around well. I know we are concentrating on Griffiths error but for me Livesey was just as culpable for the second goal, allowing the leading marksman for KL to chest the ball down, turn and get a shot off in the box - should have been far more tightly marked and judging by Danny's reaction he knew it. Griffiths today actually did start coming for some crosses and caught them - something a lot of us have been critical about. His handling today in those situations was excellent, no hint of him punching the ball. Dudley had another quiet game, that position is becoming a bit of an issue, Taylor time and again has no one in front of him to pass to when he's under pressure because Dudley drifts inside. Teams are figuring that out and trying to close him down quicker. All in all that was a great advert for the 6th tier of English football, both teams playing some decent stuff.

Should have won today, it’s not a point to complain about I suppose as they’re a good side but considering Griffiths’ mistake and the position we later found ourselves in, we should have more.
Can’t understand the criticism about the first half at all, other than the early howler it was the most even game of football you’ll come across. Both sides had a couple of half chances but had largely kept each other well at arm’s length. It was certainly uneventful but Jonno’s assessment of 6/10 in his post match interview is bang on, very solid away from home to a top side apart from a gaffe.
We came out with more purpose after the break and stepped it up, they couldn’t live with us at times. Our second goal was outstanding, Glendon (somehow) pinged one from the halfway line to the right touchline to Jackson who crossed over for Asante first time. Watch the highlights as Glendon’s ball over is out of this world good.
We were good in the second half and shaded it overall, but they’re also a good side and looked decent going forward at times if a little suspect at the back.
Glendon was excellent, calm and composed and his part assist for our second was a highlight. Jackson also had a good game tearing down the wing but can’t help but feel he should have caused even more problems, maybe it’s just that I have such high standards for him now but thought their left back was desperately weak. Difficult to sum up Griffiths, it was an absolute howler for their first (not his first either) but I thought the 88 minutes that followed were his best in a Chester shirt. He wasn’t overly tested with shots, but the confidence he showed to throw himself out and firmly catch (not punch) balls aimed in to a big, lumpy and annoying forward line was impressive and a welcome change from him.
Ventured in to King’s Lynn for a look around before the game, not the best of places really with little there. Got a friendly welcome from the locals though to be fair, definitely had some proper strange fans by the segregation fence though.
A neutral would have been pretty impressed with both sides I'd say.

Not wrong there. I spent the whole game by that barrier and that one chubby guy in a black shellsuit-type garb was definitely on day release from the local asylum. Your point about Dudley. I feel he is wasted as he is. Don't forget he was our leading goal scorer last season where he scored his goals in the first half of the season playing as a striker.

It was a bit of an odd place. I imagined it to be quite affluent round there, instead it seemed a bit forgotten. Still, friendly locals in the pubs. That lot next to the fence were proper weird though. Who sings "you're shit and you know you are" straight after the other team equalises?
Also one of the most boring journeys ever, unless you like flat fields and cabbages.
