AFC Fylde have, within the last few minutes, announced the departure of manager Dave Challinor and his assistant, former Blues defender Colin Woodthorpe, after eight years in charge (since the Evostik Division One North days).
Fylde are struggling at the wrong end of the National League at present, putting in jeopardy their plans for a Football League place by 2022. Still, it’s a shame to see such a long-serving management team (the second longest-serving in England’s top five divisions behind Morecambe’s Jim Bentley) get the boot.
If you’re wondering about the strange timing of their announcement - around 3.30pm on a Saturday afternoon - their game against Sutton United was postponed.

Coincides with Danny Rowe's goals drying up!!

They will find another Club no problem. Fylde lost a lot of key players in the summer, Rowe has handed in a transfer request and to top it off Blackpool have their Club back. They're sub 1,00 now. Think that'll be it for them.

Challinor seems a decent manager.Didn't he take Colwyn bay into Conference North after Young left them for us? befor dropping down a league and a division to take over at Fylde.

Think that'll be it for them. I know their owner is very very wealthy but even he must be frustrated that all his investments have only yielded crowds of such a low number. Of course the situation at Blackpool was always going to have an impact and, as you say, you now wonder how much further they can go. To get out of that league they'll need serious moneybags on crowds of 1,000 odd.

Their off field activities go some way in making them sustainable and I believe that Stuart is/was using their set up as a "blueprint" for our future. Haythornthwaite has also ruled out any further bids for Blackpool, preferring to focus on Fylde but hey this is football.

Barrow have turned down an approach for Ian Evatt from Fylde.

If you’re wondering about the strange timing of their announcement - around 3.30pm on a Saturday afternoon - their game against Sutton United was postponed. Presumably if that game wasn't postponed and they had won it, they wouldn't have been sacked. In effect they've lost their job because of Network Rail, and specifically because of a fatality on the line, sadly.

Amazing the mention of Jim “Mr. Morecambe” Bentley in the original post. He’s just resigned his role as the longest-serving manager in the top five divisions to drop a division to replace Challinor at Fylde.

Challinor was at the York game, sat in F block. He probably kept an eye on a few players possibly for his next appointment? Or it could be something as simple as being an out of work Chester lad, and his home side were playing in a top of the table clash.
