Hughes passes the goal keeper but hits the post with an open goal. Turning out to be not our day! That is not being unlucky though.

Finished 2 - 2. Annoying. At least we aren't losing games.

FT 2-2
Whether it’s as a team or as individuals we really do need to sharpen up defensively.

Bit of a disappointing result, but it sounds like Blyth are in a bit of a false position and have turned a corner. We know from last season it's a tough place to go, and we're clearly creating chances.
Not great, not a disaster.

If we don't have our best 11 out we struggle. 5 without a win now. York will be relishing playing us.

What an attitude. It’s a forum and everyone has a right to an opinion. I don’t bother reading Rio’s opinion because it’s more wishful than thinking. Great that he’s so optimistic, but I prefer a reasoned opinion. He has many virtues which I find of value, but it just happens that I don’t find his predictions of value. For those who are simply saying what effectively amounts to lower teams never beating higher teams - you know that’s nonsense. Lighten up Victor Meldrew I don’t believe it!

2 points lost today we really do need to take our chances and tighten up at the back 8 scored in last 3 games is a good return, 8 conceded in last 3 games is a disaster. Really need to get a grip on this if we are to be serious about promotion!

We've put needless pressure on ourselves for next week. Lose and we're 5 adrift and York have a game in hand.

That said we failed to beat basement side Leigh Genesis twice in our first season and still won the league. Our form has to be a cause for concern though, no matter how optimistic you are.

Obviously didn't go today. What can we do to stop conceding so many goals. Only 2 clean sheets all season. Worrying.

It's disappointing certainly, but if this is our rough patch it could be a lot worse. We've come through two of the longest away days and a direct opponent for the title without being beaten and we're still scoring goals for fun, whilst currently sitting second having only lost once and still with the chance to go top next week. Can't understand how Grand and Livesy have become so susceptible to crosses though. (I dare say Livesy has been at fault for more goals than Griffiths so far) A loss to York next week would be damaging to a title bid, but far from sealing the title for them, there's an awfully long way to go yet and they've got to move grounds yet which could upset their apple cart.
On to Saturday #UTFS

Frankly, a bit of perspective is required. Its the end of October and we have lost one game.. Saying if we lose next, its looking like the play offs, is somewhat dramatic. If it were the end of March, I might agree. Plenty of twists and turns in this before the end of the season . Yes. We need to take our chances and tighten up and I think Bern and Johno are aware of that?

It's a long season, Stockport were 10 points a drift at Christmas. We do need to pick up a win soon as we always see how negativity can quickly creep in.

Now 6 draws accumulated so far, along with gifting goals to the opposition. Today the problem was compounded with glaring misses! Yes, the managers will be aware of the obvious, but these weaknesses are becoming a bit of a habit now.

Not really game related but I’m wondering if people had a choice, would they have our starting 11 or York’s?
Sitting on the fence I’d have a mix of players but if I had to pick one side I’d argue theirs is a tad better and so if we do compete with them this season we’ll have done a brilliant job.

A very frustrating afternoon all round as we had tonnes of chances in the second half, but we just couldn’t take them. We’d be waiting ages for our third because the longer the game went on, the more despairing it was that our missed opportunities cost us. To sum the game up, it was basically a mixture of two poor defences and two inconsistent attacks because both defences were very leaky that were carved open on a regular basis, whilst the forwards for both sides rued plenty of chances. Blyth Spartans gave us a good game this afternoon as they were very dangerous on the attack, and they too had a number of chances. Despite us fielding a weaker side today, this is still a huge opportunity missed as a draw is simply not good enough, and we need to tighten things up at the back. There are no problems with our forwards at all because it was just an off day for them, although it’s just typical that Akwasi Asante couldn’t play as he is a natural finisher who would have relished playing today.
The first half was really entertaining as there was plenty of goalmouth action in both halves of the pitch. On a general point of view we were second best in this period as our style of play was very uninspiring. We failed to take our time when on the ball which resulted in us having a lazy habit of lumping it up to George Waring in hope. Also, we were fortunate to be level at the break because Blyth should have been at least two ahead, but thankfully they didn’t take their chances which was the story of the day. At King’s Lynn last Saturday we conceded after two minutes, but the roles were reversed this afternoon as Danny Elliott struck an impressive free kick for us to make it 1-0 very early on. Just as we were getting over our great start, we switched off at the back which enabled Blyth Spartans to score to make it 1-1. The goal began in similar fashion to King’s Lynn’s first last week, as Simon Grand played the ball back to Russ Griffiths who sliced his clearance out for a throw in. Following the throw, a cross went in which found Michael Sweet who glanced a header towards the far corner. At the other end a speculative George Glendon shot went out of the ground, whilst we received a huge let-off as a Callum Roberts attempt somehow went wide. Blyth Spartans continued to go at us, and to their credit Adam Wrightson scored a really good solo goal to make it 2-1. He sprinted with the ball for about 50 yards, cut inside, then fired the ball past Griffiths to put them in the lead. Meanwhile, George Waring missed a sitter from a couple of yards out as hit effort somehow went wide, but our errors at the other end were still evident as a Joel Taylor slip put Sweet through on goal, where thankfully Simon Grand was on hand to clear off the line. Five minutes before the interval we got ourselves on level terms as Matty Hughes finished a fine move to make it 2-2. George Glendon should have had a shot in the build up as he had plenty of space, but he decided to play it out to Brad Jackson who found Hughes to tap-in from close range. That was the final action of a frantic first half.
Our display was improved in the second period as we had more of the ball and were more dangerous. Although this half didn’t contain any goals, it was still action-packed as both sides had their moments to snatch a winner. Russ Griffiths has endured a forgettable last few weeks, but to his credit he kept us in the game as he made a remarkable stop to deny Robbie Dale who was clean though. A below par Gary Roberts hit missed the target from long range, but moments later there was a huge goalmouth scramble that was one of the biggest I have witnessed in a while. We must have had about four bites at the cherry, but Danny Livesey was closest to putting us back in front as his header was cleared off the line, before the move was ended as Matty Hughes’ shot went wide. Livesey went close again as his powerful volley was straight at Mark Foden, but our biggest miss of the game arrived two minutes later which well and truly summed up our afternoon. Matty Hughes rounded Foden which put him clean through on goal, but his effort somehow cannoned off the post. At the other end, Blyth hit the woodwork themselves as Lewis Hawkins nodded against the post which gave us a lifeline. Towards the end of the clash a flurry of chances went our way as firstly Simon Grand planted a header into the stanchion. George Glendon then fired an effort over, before Hughes slotted wide. Both sides could have won it, but Blyth will be the happier of the two as it just wasn’t our day at all.
Once again my man of the match goes to George Glendon who ran the show in midfield. He orchestrated our second goal as he picked out Brad Jackson who assisted Hughes, and he was never afraid to get stuck in either. Brad Jackson was one of our very few hopes when we were on the attack because he was the one who started off our drives forward (mostly). Matty Hughes took his goal well, but he should have had a hat trick because if he had brought his shooting boots with him, then he would have put the game to bed. Russ Griffiths was better than in recent times. Granted, his poor clearance resulted in the throw for Blyth’s first, but other than that he had a strong game as he made some very good saves. Our defence was not it’s usual solid self as Blyth’s pacy forwards carved Simon Grand and Danny Livesey open a lot. Grand made an impressive clearance off the line in the first half, but he needs to remain patient when on the ball because he hoofs it up too many times.
We have got a busy week coming up in both the league and cup as our next match is on Wednesday night where we will make the short journey to Runcorn Town away in the Cheshire Senior Cup 1st Round. This will be a good opportunity to field our younger/fringe players against a senior side who are doing well this season. Most eyes will be looking ahead to next Saturday against York City though, as the team we field should be a lot stronger than it was today which will give us a bigger advantage. Ideally it would be nice for York to have a midweek replay in the FA Cup that could tire them, although with how things are going right now I can’t see it.

York 2-0 up against Stockport into added time they are going great guns at the moment Stockport were shocking, noticed York’s strength was to cross the ball, it caused several problems all game, Taylor and Roberts will be busy next week it’s also a problem for us defending at the moment. I do fancy us against McNulty at the back with the likes of Jackson’s pace and Asante. It’s going to a case of who out scores the opposition, it seems that’s the type of team we’re becoming.

Every time we've played against McNulty I've fancied us but we've never got a sniff. He's a barrel of lard but clever. Just sits in the middle, plays it simple and reads the game brilliantly. Just hope we give it a go next week, as should be a decent crowd.

Have to agree here, York are full time and it's widely considered have a fair bit of financial clout as the signing of Durrell and McNulty show. We'll do very well to give them a run at the title which I believe we are more than capable of doing.

If we had Asante playing we would of beaten Blyth
We had enough chances to win it and they had chances to win it the biggest one hitting the post
Glendon is on another level i seriously hope we can keep him till end of Season
Hope Matty bounces back after that miss

I think if there is any money in the budget in January then I’d like to see us bring a younger centre back in who can put their head on things. Fed up of constantly seeing us ship cheap goals from out wide. Or perhaps play Kevin Roberts in the middle and play Morgan at right back. I do generally like Grand and Livesay but questions need to be asked when two experienced guys are getting caught out on the same thing week in week out.
