I’d expect Elliott and Waring to keep their place in the side on Saturday after that haul last night, despite what the management said about their performance after the disappointing draw at Blyth. If you’ve got two forwards scoring six goals between them in a game, no matter the opposition, they’ve got to stay in the team IMO. I’d put Hughes wide left and have Elliott up front - Dudley and Asante are great players to have to bring off the bench. Disagree slightly. I think we need to get the pace of Matty Hughes against McNaulty

Waring has been bullied by centre half’s all season getting pulled and pushed with no help from refs. McNulty will be the best at that.

The problem with that, is that without Asente or Waring, as targetman, the ball may come straight back at us.

Doesn’t necessarily have to be a target man, don’t think they’d win much against the best defence in the league anyway. I’d have Dudley up top, dropping in between the lines like he did last season v Boston and tore them apart. Get him on McNulty, either he follows him and leaves a gap for Hughes/Elliott in behind, or one of the York midfield two drops off to mark him and that surrenders space on the ball for Glendon.

Totally agree! Pace and skill of Dudley,Hughes, Jackson and elliot will give york something to think about and hopefully allow Glendon to work his magic. I hope burton starts over Roberts just feel we will need his energy as previously shown before his injury

We fielded a team that would probably hold its own in the Northern Premier League. None of the outfield 10 will make the starting line up on Saturday imo. Some will not make the bench ! For me it poses the question can we afford such a large squad ?

For me it poses the question can we afford such a large squad ? Let’s go back 12 months when we had a crippling injury list and only youth team players on the bench so we didn’t have a single player who could come off the bench and change the game, if we could have had this squad last season I think we would be playing a league higher this season. Just my opinion but players who can come into the team and the team still performs to a high level is worth the extra money, after all we only spend money we have now so it’s not like we are running up a det.

My fear is we have too many senior contracted players which is worrying in terms of affordability and giving a decent chance for some of our home grown players to establish themselves in the first team. I understand the point you are making but I think there is a balance to be struck. I hope you are right about it being worth the extra money and my fears will not be realised. Time will tell.

Our main issue over the years is injuries and having a small squad Nothing to complain about the size of our team this season it’s a good thing

Depends on whether you want us to challenge to win this league, or hope to sneak into the play offs. We should give ourselves the best chance of getting promoted, while staying within budget. If we are doing that, great. You need experienced players to do that. They will also help the young players with their development. If by giving out home grown players a chance to establish themselves, you mean throw 4 or 5 in for 20 games, and see how they do. A lot of our supporters would soon drift away, if we weren't doing everything to get out of this league. I believe Bern and Jonno pick a team to win based on merit. A number of young players have been given chances. Some have done ok, others have struggled after the initial 2 or 3 games. That's why they are out on loan in a lower league.

I understand all the points you are making. However in my opinion we have become dependent on the money of one person, Stuart Murphy. Crowds have been disappointing given our league position so this situation is exacerbated. I fear we are in a very vulnerable position and it may not end well. I really hope I am wrong but as I said before time will tell.
