There have been more locked threads in the last few weeks than at anytime since this forum was created. Most are hijacked by a small minority and for mainly non footballing issues and in some instances are further fuelled by moderators! The number of regular contributors is slowly declining and whilst most of us just want to debate the club issues, impart our "professional" experiences or just find out whats going on at the club there are some who just can't help getting personal, disrespecting others and bringing non footballing matters into the debates. The laid back moderating style has been welcomed and continues to work well in the main but I feel that some individuals are pushing the boundaries too often and need reining in.

Thanks for the feedback. I must admit I've not been on here too much lately, but I'll endeavor to keep a closer eye on things.
Mods should only be closing down threads that have completely derailed or spiraled into tit for tat between posters. I'm sure the majority would rather just continue to debate maturely rather than threads getting locked, and I really don't want to have to go down the route of banning people as that's not what this forum is about, but I recognise there are limits. Probably a good time to remind posters to keep threads on track, and by all means have a healthy debate even if you disagree but to respect others entitlement to an opinion.

Interestingly, on the way to Brackley I was listening to the Radio and they were talking about Arsenal and the fact that there is a default crisis response within their fanbase due to years of on-going issues at their club, which means they automatically act in a certain way to any issue as a crisis. I think is replicated at Chester. There are things that happen at the Club; Changing formation at home to York; Running out of Pies or hot drinks (which by no means is ideal.) Yet as a fanbase we seem to respond in the same manner, referring to the managers as 'Clueless Gallagher Brothers' or demanding the Club take action ceasing services with a provider with no feasible alternatives.
That's not saying that any of these things are not issues, but we seem to believe we are in 'Crisis' as a Club immediately something doesn't go our way, rather than being rational in responses and looking at the bigger picture. A perfect example of another Club like this is Wrexham. If you look on their message board it makes Devachat look sensible.

In Si I Trust I'd use the singular and not the plural because we all know which moderator causes the problem on this board since his recent appointment. Whenever he gets on his false soapbox the thread usually descends into a farce and then is shut down.

Apologies for taking umbrage to someone making a thinly-veiled xenophobic remark, in future I shall let them be racist.
Wonโt happen again.

How long before the thread about locked threads is locked?

The poppies thread was not derailed by any moderator. Read it - it started off as a sensible enough suggestion about adding a poppy to the shirt for Remembrance Day. It started to go awry when a misreported, health and safety story was mentioned. That thread wasn't really the place for it. That caused another poster to not very subtly, and completely inaccurately, blame Muslims for it. Not only that, but he won't accept he's wrong and won't have anyone challenging him over it.
It's stuff like this that makes me unsure about wearing a poppy these days, frankly. The overzealous attitude with which certain people insist we should be all be forced to wear one, plus the fact that these views often seem to go hand in hand with outright xenophobia, makes me wonder whether I want to be part of it. Maybe some people need to remember what we fought against in the war. To their credit the Royal British Legion do their best to stay out of the politics and I have no issue with donating money to them.
I think it might be best if we all tried not to post political views in the main forum. I was biting my tongue not to say that King's Lynn was a classic Brexit town a few weeks ago, but I knew it would only go off on a tangent if I did. The off-topic forum is underused, let's keep politics on there.

Only one person was the problem with that Poppies thread and yet again it was Hannibal. How he escapes a ban on this forum for thinly veiled racism is a disgrace tbh.
