RIO I think you are likely to be correct in predicting an away following of around 100 for this game. So therefore you would hope that segregation isn’t put in place. It’s a nice little town but not great for those that like to do away days in the trains. Car travel or the Hipkiss express will Probably keep numbers travelling down. That’s interesting Re their new terrace

So It's worth having a go in the Trophy if it's 60K for the winners Maybe another 20k in additional gate money. Plus a day out at Wembley. What more incentive do we need.

The prize money isn't that great, until the semi. You'd think the FA might put a bit more in the pot.

This is a difficult one. Ideally we want to get out of this league this season. That said we are way overdue some sort of a run in any cup Competition. Last reasonable run under Burr Stockport and Barnsley I think? I agree with the previous point that the fa could make the Prize money a little more which would add extra incentive

I don't see that a Cup run and getting out of the league are mutually exclusive. At our level tend to think that so much is down to confidence and winning becomes a habit. We followed up the FA Cup defeat with a very poor home performance and haven't really been firing on all cylinders since. Players are just as likely to get injured in training and it's not as if we are playing twice week now anyway. Also means likelihood of blank Saturdays if we crash out early.

Maldon and Tiptree who play in the 8th tier are through to the FA Cup 2nd round, only lost once in 20 league and cup games this season, so a definite case of winning becomes a habit and also pocketed about £50k in the process. It won't happen every year but great when it does, we still talk about the Leeds game 45 years on and I still have great memories of our Debenhams Cup victory in '77. Its time for todays youngsters to grab a piece of history to keep them engaged for the next 45 years and keep their kids/grandkids hoping, wishing and believing that they see the next great cup run.

Several of the successful clubs I have seen over the recent past have not had excellence throughout the squad. Importantly, they have had one or two big hitters in the team who they managed to keep fit. The likes of Matt Rhead springs to mind. In our case we have had Michael Wilde, George Horan, and Antoni Sarcevic. Imagine having a ‘fully fit and firing’ Akwase Asante all season! I’d say a speculative £30k - £40k post Christmas could get the two or three players we need to get us out of this league. The current squad is good enough and only needs a bit of good luck and a boost.

Agree with those who think Bern and Jonno made a bit of a mistake in how they approached the FA Cup game. Not only did we go out at the first hurdle, but it seemed to knock our momentum a bit in the league games that followed. If you're in good form, ride it!
Both Stockport and Chorley had FA Cup runs last year and still went up, plus Stockport reached the Trophy. And Chorley really weren't that great last season.
I hope we go for the Trophy. I think I'd even go as far as to say I'd rather we won the Trophy at Wembley this season than we got promoted.

Sort of get what he means to be fair - it was either last season or in the summer I ran a poll asking us to choose between Wembley showpiece or promotion and it was a mixed bag of results. We’re one of a tiny number of proper clubs now to have never ever been to Wembley.

Actually just checked and it wasn’t as I remembered it - the question was “Football League in your lifetime or Wembley appearance in your lifetime” and FL won 26-6.
I’ll get back in my box.

Yeah I remember that poll actually.
Would take getting out of this league over anything.

My logic is that promotion from the National League North to the National League would go largely unnoticed, even in Chester.
If we got to Wembley, it would be a club first and I think everyone in the city would know about it, and it would be national attention. It could be a real springboard.

I doubt the FA Trophy final would really register with the wider Chester public. Would be interesting to see how many we took to Wembley if we ever made it. Would love the day out, but for the future of the club playing national rather than regional football is more important IMO. Why not both?

I note that we have declined the opportunity to finish the tie with a penalty shoot-out on Saturday, should it end in a draw, and have instead opted to go for a replay at home next Tuesday evening.

You just couldn’t make it up. Having to go there once a season is bad enough but twice in less than a month - arghhhh! RIO it’s awful isn’t it having to go back there so soon. It’s a difficult draw that’s for certain. I wonder if they will decide to come up with the silly segregation again resulting in us not being able to access the bar and having to Put up portacabin toilets and no shelter from the rain. Anyway no doubt I shall see you there Segregation will be in place again: www.chesterfc.com/2019/11/18/fa-trophy-the-blues-are-heading-to-brackley-town-this-saturday/

This is frustrating and ridiculous at the same time. Ok they say that facilities might be better this time. There was 400 odd for the league game so won’t be anymore for this game. Not one iota of an inclining of any troubles. Although it’s a nice little town there appears to be nowhere to get food other than cold sandwiches in the town. If they wish to treat me as a second class citizen with absolute contempt I may treat them with the same and not give them my entrance fee frustrating
