Asante found the net today alongside Cain Noble (who got two) in a 3-0 win against Accrington Stanley in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Deva.

Was worried what this message was going to say. Now it’s Saturday’s opposition who should be worried.

Asante only played the first 30 minutes and still found the net.

I’d have him on the bench for Saturday just in case we are losing in the last 30. Then I think it would be worth bringing him on to get the replay/winner - as we could do with a decent cup run.

If he's fit play him. Get our best 11 on the pitch. If we can't beat BPA we are in trouble.

I wouldn’t dismiss BPA too quickly - they have just re-appointed Mark Bower as manager I was basing it on the fact that they are bottom of the league, having won two games all season and we are at home. It's game we must win.

What is the update? Did he get through his 30mins unscathed? Is he eligible for selection at the weekend? Will Accrington come in for him when the transfer window opens?

Why,12 months to the day he first joined CFC, Asante sent 'thank you' text messages to Johnson and Morley - "The gaffers took a chance on me. They took a chance signing me in the first place then they took a chance when they signed me permanently. I've played for a lot of managers, some a lot better than others, but I've never enjoyed playing for managers as much as I do at the moment." www.cheshire-live.co.uk/sport/football/akwasi-asantes-thank-you-managers-17366633

Have to say the managers seem to be handling him superbly. You can sense their frustration when he's on one of his injury breaks but I get the feeling they have agreed to let him decide when he's fit, rather than trying to force him to play with niggles. I think that's exactly the way to get the best out of him. We know he will miss games but he's got 13 already this season and his strike rate is phenomenal. Good to hear he's enjoying his time with us...I fear someone will take a punt on him sooner or later because he's at least league 2 standard. Probably have to go back to Wilde in our first season since we had such an exciting striker. Asante and Dudley is probably the best strike force in our division. It's huge for a team to have a player like him because the lads around him know that if they stay in games he will stick one away.

Yes, well done Akwasi Asanti nice interview and glad you enjoy your football at Chester. The best Christmas present for both you and the Club would be for you to stay fit for the rest of the season.....but then you would be snapped up by a league club.

An honest article from the lad. Those who criticised him as a "sick note" and suggested we "get rid" will now hopefully see the mutual value between him and our Club.

Everyone can see his value, people are always going to be critical of a striker that’s injured as often as Asante when they’re injured.

I quite enjoy these interviews with players at this level eg Akwasi. They generally come across as genuinely rounded people who play for the love of the game. Possibly it's because they are often part time, have jobs outside of football and are consequently more "in touch" with people in the real world. Unlike those further up the pyramid who live in their little bubble and are media coached to within an inch of their lives.

Good article by the big man and you get the feeling, that for all the hairdryer treatment streotype, from the Salford documentary, that players actually love playing for Johnson and Morley. And I think ,they want to be here for the long term and see how far, it takes them. They understand the club. With a bit of luck and with a core of young players, we could hopefully do a Barrow?

I wouldn't be against that, I think stability with talented managers often gets rewarded. I think they need to deliver 2nd or 3rd place and hopefully promotion this season though with the money that Stuart Murphy is putting in.

I think they need to deliver 2nd or 3rd place and hopefully promotion this season though with the money that Stuart Murphy is putting in.Does anyone know how much money Mr. Murphy has put into the playing budget this season. i.e. What is likely to be our ‘real terms’ playing budget for this season? Winning this league gets us promoted, so that’s my expectation. Early season gifts lost us numerous points, and without such losses we would already be top of the league. Only two playing positions needed in my opinion. We previously found Ben Heneghan and John Rooney, also Antoni Sarcevic, so let’s hope for a cracker of a Christmas find, and a storming second half of the season. P.S. Agree that the managers are handling Asante well. Always said he is only with us because of his injury history, but what I am most impressed with is that his goals always seem to win us points. Not like a brace in a 5-0 victory.
