Santander, Lloyds, HSBC and everyone else who has whacked a 40% post-Brexit rate on overdrafts with hardly any notice.
Banks are just scum as far as I'm concerned.

Banks. All banks. But particularly this week Halifax and Lloyds (or rather Lloyds Banking Group that own both of these banks).
A mother sadly lost her severely disabled daughter last week but seven different forms of ID and a death certificate were not sufficient enough for Halifax to close the bank account and return funds to the family. To make matters worse, it took a Twitter appeal by the grieving mother to get any sort of a response from Halifax, and even then there appeared very little sympathy for the fact that her daughter had just died (“did my colleagues in the branch state what documents you needed?” was the tactful response).
As for Lloyds Banking Group (which also own the aforementioned Halifax bank), they’ve announced that 780 employees including customer advisers and bank managers will lose their jobs after profits fell 26% to £4.4billion. So they’ve made a profit of £4.4 BILLION and are hastily axing jobs because of that.
You know those social media memes that ask you if you could get rid of one thing in the world to make it a better place (usually out of money, war, fossil fuels etc etc)? It’s money, lads. The root of all evil.

Oh that's alright then, never mind the family of a young dead girl struggling to get her funds returned. Perhaps your daughter should up her game with their in-house quality assurance procedures so this sort of thing doesnt happen again? Or is she more to do with saving money for the company, in which case witholding a dead girl's money works I suppose.

You are one nasty piece of work.my daughter is head office q a not branch and has no face to face contact. I bet you be right into your manager screaming I don't want that bonus. You come over as a very jealous man. Does your company give bonuses. If it doesn't perhaps you should think of moving

I would like an apology from you. You're accusations that my daughter has withheld money to make herself look good with the company she works for. Think very hard before you jump in with. Contentious posts

Your telling her to up her game and then go on to imply she doesn't care about people and maybe holds up money to enhance Company profits that is clearly what you said. Read it through and ask yourself could you have worded it better.

I apologise if I offended you but I did not suggest your daughter withheld any money from the relatives of a deceased customer. I made it clear the company did, because it actually did. You replied to the original post on this subject by saying your daughter works for them and got a big bonus so they can’t be a bad company, in direct reply to the harrowing story of what the deceased’s family have gone through so I, as a right-minded person, took offence to that. Perhaps they should treat their customers as well as they treat their staff (the ones they aren’t sacking because they “only” made a 44 billion pound profit).
Anyway, you can report the post if you wish.

Apology accepted. On the other side of the coin she worked in the fraud department for 3 years. The figures involved were astronomical. I don't doubt the girls mother was unfortunate to be dealing with someone who had no empathy whatsoever. But it is no excuse.

Starbucks and Nespresso.
Did anybody watch Channel Four’s Dispatches the other night? Child labour on coffee farms that supply beans to the above two companies, Starbucks who have questionable U.K. tax arrangements too.
Our club has a partnership with Starbucks - discounts for CFU members etc. Not good considering we try to sell ourselves as different - especially after our previous kit manufacturer’s support of a racist, apartheid regime.

Didn't see it, but the problem is that I know what Starbucks' response will be. It will be the same as Primark's a few years ago - to say that they're going to stop child labour. That on its own solves nothing, and just puts these families deeper into poverty, as they can't earn as much. The issue is not so much child labour as ridiculously low wages.

Forgot to mention Wilkos on here for their cynically timed changes to sick pay.
Oh, and Wetherspoons again. I could accept his Brexit stance as a difference in opinion, but his behaviour this past week has been an absolute disgrace and he should be ashamed of himself.

It's the usual suspects who are being uncooperative - Wetherspoons, Sports Direct etc. Their owners think of absolutely nothing but money, which is a poor way to live your life.

It's a shame to drag small independent businesses into this, but the Oxton Bar and Kitchen near Birkenhead, for this bizarre and vitriolic rant at NHS workers from the owner. Nice PR move there, mate. Attachments:
