It's a shame to drag small independent businesses into this, but the Oxton Bar and Kitchen near Birkenhead, for this bizarre and vitriolic rant at NHS workers from the owner. Nice PR move there, mate. Yes, I saw that, too. Hope he never gets ill or has an accident!

The Board of Deputies.
People are currently dying in the UK because we have a government which subscribes to a key tenet of Nazi ideology: eugenics. And the racist Board of Deputies continues on with its smear campaign against the Labour left.

I am no supporter of the government, but it is nothing to do with Nazi ideology. It is incompetence and lack of compassion that have hindered their response to the pandemic.

They hired eugenics fanatics into advisory roles, spoke of “herd immunity” and taking the the virus on the chin/losing loved ones and they’re coming out with things like sacrificing the elderly who are more likely to die within the next couple of years anyway in order to protect the economy.

Campaign Against Antisemitism.
They’re repeatedly making serious accusations against the Labour Party without any proof and ignoring requests for evidence, then they turn a blind eye to George Osborne’s newspaper carrying a blatantly anti-Semitic cartoon on its pages yesterday.

EasyJet has secured a £600m loan from the UK Treasury and Bank of England’s emergency coronavirus fund. On 20 March, it paid a dividend of £174m, £60m went to its co-founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou.
Looks like socialism does work after all. Socialism for the mega rich.

Could happen to your providers and you’d have lost everything. Capitalism eh.

Sorry I posted, I was actually agreeing with you about awful company's. I don't need to ask for my money back as my bank and insurance cover cancellation. Just stating that these companies are awful as a lot of people don't have cover

Saying that, all insurance companies are scam artists. If they can find any way to not pay out they’ll do it.

Ofcom.
An FOI request has shown that they received 37 complaints about the BBC Panorama hatchet job on Labour (which has, this weekend, finally been proven to be a complete fabrication) but did not open an investigation. They received ONE complaint about an edition of Russia Today’s Sputnik in which the Skripal case was discussed but did investigate. Please don’t tell me they’re impartial.

Victoria Beckham, who’s personal handbag collection is worth £1.5m and who is valued with husband David at £335m, is billing the taxpayer to furlough her 30 fashion company staff.

Shout out to the likes of “Jet2” and “EasyJet” with their emails encouraging everyone that “summer’s back on”. Record number of infections worldwide, invalid travel insurance and potential further lockdowns worldwide but I can go £450 all-inclusive in Fengerola.

Boohoo.
The online shop incorporates Boohoo, BoohooMAN, PrettyLittleThing and Nasty Gal, selling own label clothes, shoes and accessories.
Sweatshop conditions for workers who are paid £3.50 an hour at one of their factories in Leicester and face a choice of risking their lives by working during the height of a pandemic or facing the sack.
Their billionaire boss is set to receive £50million in bonuses.

I read all about liecester sweat shops not one but hundreds. The mayor of the Labour controlled council said about lockdown in the liecester area lasted about a week then everybody went back to normal. These people are working for a pittance and living in dreadful conditions some live twenty to a house. Most have bosses from their own countries. Why if this is common knowledge have we not heard of this before.

The decision to impose a lockdown in Leicester was taken by central government. The area covered by the local lockdown rules in Leicester does not coincide with local authority boundaries. So quite why you felt the need to mention that the local council is Labour-run, I don’t know.

Premier Sports. Offering a free 1 month trial for La Liga just before Premier League resumed, so I signed up for a free football fix. Then when it came to cancelling before I was billed for the first paid month the website conveniently doesn't have this function (it does if you want to subscribe!) and directs you to a phone line which despite whatever time you ring tells you they are too busy to take your call. Plenty of people on Twitter directed the questions to their Twitter account where the response was to DM them. Trouble is it then takes a while for them to DM you back, if at all. I found an email address and they replied within 3 days apologising and said they'd cancel my account but as I hadn't given the 5 days notice prior to renewal I was liable to pay the cost, despite the fact I'd be attempting to cancel for longer than that but I simply couldn't find a way of getting a response from them. It's only £5.99 but its the principle of it. In the meantime, their Twitter account finally DM'd me back saying they'd refund me, so I'm waiting to see which of their support arms is correct, the email one or the Twitter one! What company would have their main route of complaint as having to DM them?! Won't ever be fooled by them again, bastards.

I was offered £2.99 each month for the next three months and as the La Liga season ends this month I took it and will cancel later this month. Will have to do so in good time though considering the trouble you’ve gone through.

So quite why you felt the need to mention that the local council is Labour-run, I don’t know. The 2 main areas in Leicester for sweatshops are North Evington (estimates put it at 1000+ sweatshops) and Spinney Hills both come under the control of Leicester City Council which has 52 Labour Councillors 1 Tory Councillor and 1 Lib Dem Councillor so is definitely Labour run. Is this an example of how Labour would run the country allowing slave labour to be used right under their noses, its an absolutely despicable situation and begs the question how could it be allowed.

I was talking about the march nationwide lockdown and I mentioned the mayor because he knew all about the lockdown breaches but failed to report it.

He was talking about the Covid lockdown. I was talking about the thread title "Awful companies" but to be quite honest it doesn't matter what the topic is that fact that these sweatshops exist in this country is absolutley abhorrent. I am awaiting your condemnation of this Labour run council for allowing these disgusting places to exist under their noses or your excuse for why they are allowing them

The Health and Safety Executive is responsible for working conditions in factories and HMRC is responsible for enforcing the minimum wage. Neither is under the control of Local Authorities. Awareness is another matter however and I would expect the local council to work with the two bodies and the Government to tackle an unacceptable situation.
