Very sad news a true legend. It speaks volumes really that there is a thread about Gary on red passion. Nice comments about Gary on there, just shows what a lovely person Gary was when even our rivals can spend time thinking about him

Very sad news. Over twenty years ago i took my son up to Chester to watch his first match and went to Gary's studio showroom nr Grosvenor Bridge. As a fellow photographer we had both our mutual interest in it and Chester FC. He was warm, welcoming and open. He recalled his rapid hatrick v Crewe and made reference to Alan Shearer who i believe had just completed a faster one. A real gent and pillar of the club who represented all that is good in football. Sadly missed.

Evening all...
Just to let you all know if you hadn't seen it already, the FEWG have taken on board a suggestion from a Chester fan to have a minute's standing ovation for Gary Talbot during the 9th minute of tomorrow's match.
Gary's family will be there and I'm sure they will be proud to see how much he meant to Blues fans around the ground.
Please spread the word about this if you haven't already and on the 9th minute let the ovation begin.
This is separate to the pre match tribute planned for tomorrow.
Thanks Jeff

Very moving tributes at the match yesterday. Thank you to those who organised them. So lovely to see family members on the pitch. It has been a very sad week to lose Gary. He and the ‘20 goal’ forward line put Chester FC on the footballing map in their day and probably did more than anything to build the family following for generations to come. It would be a very fitting tribute to Gary and his fellow forwards to make this a season to remember too. Sadly yesterday didn’t live up to our expectations but we are moving into a new decade and a year with 20 in it! So onwards and upwards we need to keep Gary’s blue flag flying very proudly for more generations to come.
RIP Gary and thank you.

Liked the tributes at the last game, very fitting his family were all there to see what Gary meant to the supporters of the club and people of the city. Bit surprised that the players never wore black armbands though.

I think it requires league approval and there probably wasn’t enough time ass we know the league and county FA don’t move quickly and it was Christmas so they are all probably off!!

Knew there would be a reason. Petty but what was done was classy and a nice send off to a lovely man.
