A lot of us could see from the start of the season that Griffiths was not going to be good enough for a team hoping to get promotion, so why couldn’t the managers see it. I did say earlier in the season that the goalkeeper would be the difference between having a chance of automatic promotion and making the play offs and probably failing in them. Yes Walter's in hindsight should have cleared the ball but what was the keeper doing being where he was if he isn't coming out to smother the ball! Griffiths's isn't an awful goalkeeper, but what he lacks isn't going to improve with age, basic communication skills with his defenders, and an ability to dominate his 6 yard box. To many goals have been conceded from lack of communication or crosses coming into the box, we can't keep a clean sheet against anyone and it must be playing on players minds even subconsciously. It's a shame he can't be taken out of the spotlight but with no competition for his place its unlikely to change.

It is a terrible piece of goalkeeping, sadly. I've seen pensioners pick up their dropped bus pass with more urgency and conviction.
