Isnt that the same for Dominic Cummings though "The Labour Party has demanded a "very swift explanation" from Downing Street over reports that Boris Johnson's senior aide Dominic Cummings broke the Government's lockdown rules. The Mirror reported that he was spotted at his parents' home in Durham when he was recovering from Covid-19, after travelling from his London home". Yes it is the same for Dominic Cummings. But you seemed to be upset that the Welsh police didn't do anything about Kinnock. All I was pointing out was that it would be hard for the Welsh police to do anything unless he was caught in the act, unless their powers have been extended to retrospective fines based on hearsay evidence. By the way I'm not a 'Labourite' or a Welsh copper. Not upset at the police it was in reference to a previous post as to how brilliantly the Labour led Welsh assembly is running Wales but obviously they are allowing their police to pick and choose who they let off

I’m sure that some will claim that the death of Cummings own uncle from coronavirus a few weeks after this occurred is merely a coincidence. It could well be. It might not be.
If he was to be sacked though, it begs the question - who will run the country?

Watching the Downing Street Briefing and unbelievably Grant Shapps is literally changing government guidance to justify Dominic Cummings's actions. Incredible stuff, even for this shambolic and shameful Administration.

As I said earlier in this thread, the official list of excuses for why you could leave your house is/was wide-ranging and ambiguous, and at odds with the much more curtailed advice given to the public. I suspect that was no accident, and was a way to allow high society who know their loopholes to do what they want while the rest of us do as we're told.
When I had coronavirus symptoms last month (think it was just a cold in the end), we followed NHS advice, which meant I stayed in one room for a week while my wife and daughter also didn't leave the house. If we could manage that in a small terraced house, I would've though he could in a mansion. If you're ill and worried about infection, how does it make sense to shut the whole family in a car and drive for hours anyway?

I think they thought sending Grant Shaps out there to tell us all about spending loads more money,we haven’t got, to prop up a public transport, we’re being discouraged from using, would take everyone’s mind off Cummings. Or maybe not. Poor old Grant fed to the lions as Boris hid behind his sofa til the nasty virus has gone away.

The government’s official statement defending Cummings has essentially just changed the law.
Anyone with symptoms no longer has to self-isolate at home, and are apparently free to travel wherever they like for basically any reason they see fit.
Of course that was the plan all along. Herd immunity, but blame rocketing infection rates on the people.

His excuse doesn't make any sense. I don't even believe him that childcare was the reason for his journey.
Yet again, awful UK journalism. What sort of question is "does it look good?" It just gave him the chance to make a smart-arsed retort, and then for some reason bring up Brexit simply as a gloat, which is basically all Brexit has become.

Multiple sightings of Cummings in Durham in late April, several weeks after he had finished his ‘self-isolating’ and returned to Downing Street. No doubt Tory lickspittles will be lining up in the Press and elsewhere to defend him.

Absolutely barnstorming performance from the Mirror this. Drop half the story last night and allow Tory minister after Tory minister to go on TV and Twitter today lying their faces off to defend Cummings, all whilst they were holding onto the other, equally indefensible, half of the story to drop tonight. Stunning work.

Best ever four-line summary of 2020:
"You can’t bullshit a pandemic; It doesn’t care what you write on a bus. You can’t manipulate people into not dying; and you can’t hide a decimated NHS when they do."
Historian Louise Raw.

The problem with the Cummings situation now is that the government has once again backed itself into a corner. Boris can’t sack him after his government colleagues have come out publicly to say he’s done nothing wrong. So the only way out is for Cummings to do the honourable thing and fall on his sword, and that isn’t gonna happen. But look on the bright side Boris will probably be upgrading Sir Colonel Tom to Field Marshall or Admiral of the Fleet by the end of the day, that should take everyone’s mind off the latest fuck up.

The Barnard Castle visit happened to be the day of his wife’s birthday. We know one of the Durham visits was for his mothers birthday. Another witness has said he visited Durham in early May also. What all this has done is create a massive headache for the police forces up and down England as members of the public can merely quote all of the high-profile MPs (including the actual serving Health Secretary who clearly HAS to know his stuff) and the Attorney General who have all said Cummings has done nothing wrong. What comeback does a police officer have now? Do whatever you want people, the government are saying you can.

I don't get how anyone can be anything but furious about this episode. Put aside whether you voted Labour or Tory, whether you're Leave or Remain or whatever, I would be absolutely livid if someone I voted for was behaving like this, and the party and PM fronting it were lying and trying to brush it under the carpet. I would say we should take it to the streets but that would be stooping to Cummins' level.
There's no shame in admitting you regret how you voted and are disappointed with how it turned out. I'll start if you like - I voted Lib Dem in 2009, and I've never forgiven myself. They don't represent me and never have. I just thought it was a way of telling the two main parties that I didn't like either of them and objected to the Iraq War, and I didn't think it would make any difference anyway. I was poorly informed about what the Lib Dems represented and what happens in the event of a hung parliament, and in effect I helped set up what's happened over the last decade.
Boris and his cronies should only appeal to a small fringe of far-right, ultra-rich elitists. Somehow he's got ordinary rational people on his side, and even when the indefensible happens, all we get from them is "well, all politicians lie" or "he's the lesser of two evils". It's so frustrating.

Reading back the Attorney General’s tweet in support of Cummings it essentially says the law doesn’t matter when it comes to protecting your family. Essentially, any right-minded parent can therefore choose to keep their children out of school without repercussion if the government are ploughing ahead with the mass reopening of schools next week.

It's hard to see how Cummings can keep his job after this. People have had their lives put on hold for the last 9 weeks and he goes and rubs everyone's nose in it. The arrogance of the man shows he doesn't even care what he's done. The public have had enough and this could be the tipping point for all hell to break loose if he doesn't stand down.
