There are a couple of people on here who are determined to make personal remarks about people with whom they disagree. Please stop or have a rest from this thread.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more reaction to the incident in the briefing yesterday. Oliver Dowden was trying to fend questions about Cummings away from Professor Jonathan Van-Tam in the same way as Johnson did, but the professor said he was happy to answer it, saying something along the lines of "the rules have always been clear, they're for the benefit of all, and they apply to all" while looking at the camera sternly.
Seemed a big moment to me. The first sign of visible disharmony between scientists and the party line during the briefings. Doesn't seem to have much impact though, except for a bit of reaction on Twitter.

But nobody made a mistake, apart from you - Athens and Thessaloniki are more densely populated than London. ONS population density in London - 5,700 per square mile Athens - 44,000 per square mile Thessaloniki - 18,000 per square mile

Oh dear have I offended you and your bussom buddy. Don't talk to me about humility you have never admitted you are wrong. I stand by my initial post to compare a country who's population is spread over 27 islands and has a total population the same as London.10 million. To an island with near 70 million is. Pointless

Or is the virus just attacking countries that elected stupid lazy right-wing clowns with simple slogans for the hard of thinking?

I don't really see what the relevance of 27 islands is anyway. It's not like the Greek Islands are isolated rocks in the middle of nowhere. They're well connect by air travel, see heavy tourism and are small land masses with dense populations. In a way those are the perfect conditions for a virus. Upsanddowns is right to an extent that there is little point comparing countries like-for-like, but our stats are awful and there's no getting away from that. www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countriesI don't really understand why anyone wants to defend these stats. Who are you sticking up for? It does come across as guilt from certain voters, unfortunately. Personally, I don't blame voters. Everyone votes for what they think is best. I'd just ask them not to be so stubborn as to vote the same way again. There's more nobility in admitting you made a mistake.

I think those defending this government are having to double down in more and more ridiculous ways (see: various cabinet ministers saying driving 30 miles each way to test your eyesight is acceptable and some of them have on occasion done the same) because they simply can’t face admitting they were wrong to support this government in the first place.
It takes a bigger man to admit they were wrong, doing the above just makes that person look more and more ridiculous.

I am not and never have said any thing other than our totals are high. Its more the fact that it is not a league table. So many people couldn't wait for twenty thousand then thirty thousand and now forty. I'm quite sure I'm not the only person who sees the little smirk when journos and TV reporters announce a snippit of bad news. This will kill anybody yet once again the whole country is divided. I don't think any other government has protected jobs with payouts as big as people in this country get.has anybody refused it on the grounds of it's not what I voted for. It matters not what other people do we all are responsible for our own actions

Ir’s being reported that when the PM was admitted to hospital, all staff were required to sign the official secrets act. Two doctors who disagreed with his diagnosis refused, and were sent home "on leave". One of the doctors said " if he has Covid19 I am not a doctor”. The doctors quoted are called Shirley Knott and Ashleigh Pullin. Read the names out loud!
I wouldn't put faking an illness past him, but seeing and sharing nonsense doesn't help our cause.
Dont blame you for trying to forget Ian!

1,328 UK Coronavirus deaths announced in the last 96 hours.
Schools open in 20 hours with ten times the numbers of new cases and deaths per day than on the day they closed.
The most vulnerable at-risk people who have been shielding for months have been told they can now go out - information which was sent via text message and with absolutely no consultation with GPs.
Horse racing is back.
Barmy.

Dont blame you for trying to forget Ian! Haha, fair comment but in my defence I did say ‘it’s being reported’ and not claim it’s was irrefutably true, unlike the ongoing Greek tragedy.

The one who saw him on second trip says he made it up for a bit of fun Straight from the front page of today's Mail on Sunday! It's irrelevant, or at least the first part of it is. That man, whoever he is, is in the wrong, but he is not chief strategist for the Government of the United Kingdom. He also doesn't have the government making excuses for him and basically bringing in a Dominic Cummings amendment to their own rules. If you can't understand the difference in reaction to what Cummins did and what some anonymous bloke did, I can't help you.
