Out of interest, how many active Deva Chatters are there? The shirt sponsorship is a great idea, and as we all waste so much of our likes on here without having to pay a penny there's no reason why it shouldn't earn a fair few quid, if you market it as a sort of fee for going on the forum. Optional obviously. Let's buy up the back four!

I hope that is the case. The last campaign didn't do very well, if I recall, but that was of course pre-Covid and takeover bid. I wasn't expecting a huge response, but would have been disappointed to get zero. The pledges above, and others I have privately, probably amount to about £1,000 a year and all on direct debit. They will be sent to the club, saying they are from posters on Deva Chat, so who knows may even help open a new spirit of co-operation. On the subject of Deva Chat, I'd love for the messageboard to sponsor a player next season. Preferably lots of posters pledging £2 or £3's here and there so everyone has the chance to feel represented and for the price of a pint. Kidderminster's forum do this - proudly sponsoring an academy graduate - harriers-online.co.uk/khfc/

See Harry Kane is sponsoring Leyton Orients shirts next season as a Thank You for kickstarting his career. In the absence of Ollie Mc doing the same for us then DC sponsoring a player or two is a fantastic idea. Lets do it!!

I'm happy to contribute to the player sponsorship. If whoever is organising wants to PM to arrange payment etc. Happy to chuck in some more if we want to sponsor a couple. Just let me know!

I’d also chip in to this.
Let’s hope the appreciation of the wider fanbase is better this time - in one of the early Newco seasons players from Deva Chat FC, the only supporters team at the time, sponsored Neil Young and went up on stage at the end of season awards/presentation evening as all the kit sponsors did but to a chorus of jeers and boos at the mention of “Deva Chat”. It was pretty galling considering we’d chipped in cash to support the club.

Pleased that there's been some positive responses to that idea. Once we have an idea of when the season will start and what our squad is then I'll set a Crowdfunder page up and take it from there.

Perhaps I shouldn't have thrown eggs and rotten vegetables though. I regret that.

Not taking my own advice here, by telling you what to do, but why not set up a page now and get it going? Once it's clearer on what's happening we can find a way of agreeing who we sponsor and will have an idea of how much money we have. Would give us a head start. Just a thought but will suport whatever you choose to do.

The reason we sponsored Neil Young back then was the likelihood of it being a safer bet than sponsoring a player who may leave during the course of the season - especially during the Young revolving door years!

Probably time for me to draw a line under the original aim of the thread. Thanks to all those who supported. Had a nice email from the Nick at the club also expressing appreciation to everyone who has set up new direct debits

Well done for your efforts. Hopefully the club/CFU will continue with what you've kick-started.

I too will be signing up for the Seals Lottery and am happy to chip in for the player sponsorship. I’ve noticed that Woking are currently doing a scheme where you pay £25 to have your name woven into the fabric of both their new home and away shirts. As of today it has been supported by 1,000 people - raising £25,000 and they are aiming to have 1,200 backers by Sunday’s deadline. It’s just little things like this that can go a very long way to preserving the future of football clubs. Perhaps this is an idea for us to consider one day.

Not only do I plan to do a sponsoring effort and other stuff but I am going to commit to attending every home game next season. Not only that but I am going to pay for the whole season up front. Not only that but I will buy a match program, food, a couple of pints in the BB, pay to get into the BB and I'm going to buy a 50-50 ticket. This must make me a super fan?

I'll chip in to sponsor a player. I reckon we just see how many are interested & split the cost between them then raffle the shirt between the sponsors for an extra fundraising push at the end of the season.

Sponsoring a player sounds good to me. Count me in.
